Just finished watching this. I'm having goosebumps while writing this. You can't go pass this, you need to watch this documentary, what a truly masterpiece. Much love to Kevin and Sarah. Snowboarding is a passion of mine but also got me some problems, have 6 surgeries, all different parts of my body, the hardest being last year when I fractured 3 vertebrae. I came back last month after not riding for 14 months, 5th day I try some stupid stuff, fuckin meniscus broken, minor, but have to go to surgery next week. Yesterday a friend that I haven't seen for like a year told me when I told him about all this stuff "men, you will end up like the guy from that snowboarding movie", asked him "what movie!?" and he didn't know the name of it. Did my research and here I am. Sorry if I make you read and it's not worth it. I don't use to post this kind of long things about me on the internet. But this touched my heart, I almost cried like 5 times haha, and I think I have never cried watching a movie.
Hope you’re still riding 4 years later. I can read the passion you have for snowboarding and I think it’s something a lot of us share. Keep shredding my dude
Top notch film about a top notch dude. It takes courage to snowboard like Kevin, but it takes even more courage to set aside who you've always been and say to yourself "okay, I can't be that guy anymore. I have to be someone else now." That might sound deciding to some people, but man, from where I'm sitting, it's a privilege to be anyone at all.
I suffered a mild TBI after a car accident last year; since then I've had problems with my vision and balance, and have had to wear prism eyeglasses like Kevin's. I was so inspired by this story; it motivates me to not give up, keep looking forward and stay strong. I am so glad I stumbled on this while channel flipping!
"Its realy hard to understand why i would want to get back on a snowboard after what ive been through if you dont understand how i feel about snowboarding" Wow
Holy crap, I'm teary-eyed just watching the trailer. My first time on a board was 1989. I don't ride as much as I used to, but once it's in your blood, it never goes away.
Kevin Pearce, I've seen your story on Tv tonight and ... dear, i felt so much love and sympathy for you. I cried for you so much ... I never cried that much... Shall you receive all my prayers!
I can relate to a lot of what Kevin says; I have a traumatic brain injury from an automobile accident six years ago; thanks for honestly telling your story and creating the LOVE YOUR BRAIN Foundation! You are making a difference in many people’s lives! THANK YOU!
I've had almost the exact same story exect mine was skateboarding and I'm not in the xgames. Literally the whole trying to go back to your passion and the rehibilitation. I had a huge trip watching this
Thumbs up if you still think about this documentary in 2019/2020. TO this date, I truly believe its the best sportsdocumentary created. So emotionaly strong.
YAY for helmets! I had to recently swallow some of my lifelong cowboy pride and wore a helmet while ridin' a little shortbacked mare, doggone those little sumdeguns can sure buck hard. Ate some dirt from that one, but helmet helped for sure. I like the big'ns for a smoother but still tough ride. ;) My Dad raised us kids never to even sit on a motorcycle without a helmet. good thing too. dropped mine on ice once, 'n still here ride again. :) Again, thank you all for your great comments here!
Very powerful and touching movie. It makes you realize a lot. Maybe only the people who have this kind of passion (snowboarding, skateboarding e.t.c.) can realize it completely.
I suffered a severe TBI in October of last year. I was competitively riding horses and the horse tripped on it’s own feet and fell down with me on it...this is so inspiring, my dream is to get back on a horse and complete....one day I’ll get there...
I thought "Into the Mind", "All I Can", "The Art Of Flight" was the best snowboard/ski movies that i've ever seen...but that was before seeing "The Crash Reel"...People MUST watch this movie (documentary). Well Done Kevin Pearce!!
Also a TBI survivor myself, he's right. no one has the capacity to understand why you'd get back out there and do it again. It's not about "the rush" of adrenaline. It's about following your heart. SO WHAT if you die. why does that matter? If I ever was to die when I ride roughstock, it would been just fine with me - I'm doing what I LIVE for. It's a GREAT way to go. in my opinion. I've been riding rough horses most of my life, and it's not selfish not caring what happens to you. those remaining behind need to respect that. It's not suicide, "it's just part of the game." The majority live just fine. twenty some broken bones and that one fella is okay. let people be. Others who want to, just like his Mom says about "I just don't want him to die", protect someone from getting hurt, well excuse me, but also as was whispered at the end of the clip "it's just part of the game." People who live a protective/protected life don't LIVE at all. Mortally alive but mentally in neutral (protected state) is NOT a fair trade off to doing what you live for. Follow your heart. It means everything.
You are entitled to your opinion and also entitled to live the way that you want to live, but I don't agree with the saying at the end " living cautiously is not living at all"...Well excuse me but we're not all adrenalin junkies and those of us who are not feel that we live full and happy lives without the rush of risky behavior..
***** what it really comes down to is simply "to each their (or "his or her" if you prefer) own". Not criticizing anyone else's choices in their own life, but from my perspective, yes in my own , doing whatever fulfills your need for joy and happiness in your life is exactly what you ought to be doing. Some are in extreme sports, some are fishing on a quiet lake somewhere. Some are programming the next solution to an obscure little bug in a program. Again, to each their own. (rereading what I wrote to begin this thread - wow, what bad grammar.) sheesh. ;) anyway...Thanks to you both for chiming in. Have FUN, we're not here for long, so let's make the best of it. :)
"snowboarding's my true love" Anybody that rides knows the pain when it is taken away from you. Currently nursing an AC separation and a torn ACL and MCL..glad to see he's back on a board though
haven't seen it in a lil while but from what I remember it was Above and Beyond "sun in your eyes"....the inspirational positive motivating D.J's from the U.k or it was "one day/reckoning song ".by Asaf Avidan ..the mojos....it's actually a very popular song in hipster scene here in Austin......zero radio play but it's an underground biggie

Incredibly moving film. Tears in my eye rewatching the trailer many years later…
The love & support from this guy's family is what really stuck out to me. He's really lucky to have them all.
Absolutely! He has an amazing family! They are for a lot in his healing

amazing film about an amazing athlete. I went out and bought a helmet after watching what his family went through.

If only I could say so much in so few words. doggone verbosity. ;) Thanks Lee!
Lee Keeves the point of the whole movie is largely how wrong that statement it

I have to say something. I like The Crash Reel. It's moving and inspirational. However, more than 50 percent of the documentary is false.
