The interesting thing is that if Luke had listened, the Emperor would've won. The problem with Jedi was that they had become too duty/responsibility driven instead of letting the force guide them to protect life.

@jaquariusrodgers7299 He didn't abandon his friends, which let them to disable the shield and his compassion changed Vader, which led to the destruction of the Emperor - imagine if he got to know who Vader is when confronting him on the second death star in the presence of the Emperor and the shields were up.

I really don't see that happening. Vader had valuable hostages he'd just wait for Luke to come. By then Luke would be trained up and he still would have spared Vader out of love. They could have teamed up. The old republic jedi hate is insane, wanting to train someone so they're fully prepared just makes sense.

@@ranfan1820 no hate here - criticism is not the same. In my opinion it's more that the way of Qui-Gon Jinn was right than the Old Republic wrong. You have all valid points, however in my opinion scenario you described would end up with Han, Leia and Chewie dead and Luke on the dark side (he was getting closer throughout the movies, just facing the reality of him becoming Vader - artificial arm - shook him up) and Vader would have never changed back if it wasn't for Luke refusing to turn and facing death - not much space here to elaborate further, but lastly the scenario you describe would've happened orchestrated by Emperor and Vader with no support for Luke by his friends and without the experience of Bespin - he'd kill Emperor using dark side under the influence of his father and never came back as his friends would've been dead

@@ranfan1820thing is, would Luke have spared Vader out of love, not knowing he is his father? In your scenario, Luke does not go to Cloud City, but stays with Yoda until sufficiently trained to be judged to be a match for both Vader and Palps. Assuming he defeats Vader, he still does not know he is his father; Vader may tell him at that moment, but that does not necessarily means Luke spares him (in the canon turn of events, it’s only long after dealing with the shock of the news that Vader is his father that Luke realizes his internal conflict)

That farmboy upbringing did more to strengthen Luke against the darkside than anything jedi training ever did.

"i dont want to lose you to the emperor the same way i lost....vader"....damn that hits different...in the movie its seems like obi wan said it so effortlessly but inside he was struggling inside even as a force ghost

Their insistence on remaining silent after the revelation reinforced the idea that they manipulated him to kill his father.

Neither Yoda or Obi-Wan believed Vader could be beaten and Anakin redeemed anymore. They both thought Anakin was lost forever. Neither of them thought there would be enough love and compassion in the galaxy to bring Anakin back.

I truly dislike Yoda, Obi-Wan, and most prequel jedi, they are just awful people, and Yoda and Obi-Wan still thought they knew best. They constantly lie and manipulate people.

@meinvolkuberalles Dooku while right about the Jedi, but he is still responsible for his actions. He could have exposed the sith to the galaxy, which would have proven to the jedi that they were wrong. Even if the council refused to see it, other jedi would have. Anakin is also guilty of his crimes, even if the jedi raised him to be capable of those crimes.
That is actually a major gripe I have about star wars I have, it seems any jedi that realized the jedi order wasn't right basically had a 90% of turning evil. Anakin, Dooku, Barris, the Grand Inquisitor, and Prosset Dibs were all jedi that lost faith in the order and turned to the dark side.
