Chuqin is really scary good
It happened so fast too. He used to be just like Sun Yingsha where they had rocket FHs, but then he just rounded out his game while Ma Long and FZD were dominating and now here he is.
His footwork is ridicolous, and his tactical awareness too!!
I wish to see Truls playing for long time. His style is so unique, can't wait to see how it would evolve.
He'll add some more shot variety on the BH. He'll figure out how to defend the FH with more consistency. He'll have to get better footwork to create better angles with his already unique shots.

Wang Chuqin made this game look so easy, great game.
Truls is a very creative player who usually gives opponents problems except the very top Chinese players, namely, WCQ, FZD and Ma Long. WCQ is the player he has the most trouble with. WCQ has fast paced game with quality shots from both wings and he is the most aggressive among Chinese top 3. Truls usually is under severe duress during the game and unable to play his style effectively. Plus, Truls needs confidence playing against WCQ. It may take some time, but I believe Truls will further develop his game to meet the challenge.
That’s true. Truls is very young so he has a lot of time, but if fixes the issues in his game, he can be a great World championship contender.

Truly shows how big of a difference between a western player against chinese dominance in table tennis. In women's is even worse for western players. I was expecting a closer match for #11 player in the world. Wang Chuqin simply massacred Truls Moregard game and future is not looking good for us, it seems Chinese players will dominate another decade of Table tennis worldwide. Getting bored to watch if you ask me, always getting same predictable results..Kudos to China.
Truls is not without skill but is clearly outpaced by a player like Wang Chuqin. I'd look to Anton Kallberg as the potential next big thing for European TT because he is faster and can keep up. He had some fantastic matches against Chinese players (lost to Ma Long over 5 games, def. Zhou Qihao)
I think Félix Lebrun is already better if not much better than Truls
Good comment, but I don’t think gap was that big, Yes, gap is definitely there. Truls’s defeat yesterday was more a style thing than pure level. For example Liang or Harimoto often found top European players difficult to play against. But Wang never had that dominance against Liang. On the hard, Harimoto has often found Wang tough to play against, but not so much other top Chinese players such as Liang and Lin, even not Fan and Ma Long.
Well said. My speech since 2 decades but as u stated Kudos to them and their hard work and dedication to the sport (and ofc samplesize of players and talents they can choose from).

WC is too fast and powerful, if Truls cant get the first attack in its over. Staying up close to the table may work in Europe for him but maybe he can learn to back up a bit more often to get the counter and initiate more looping rallies against WC where he might have better chances. Even Lind took similar approach and gave WC hell with his lobs.
unfortunately in a game of percentages, the Chinese are simply more likely to win the point in a longer, loop to loop rally. Its almost impossible for the europeans to compete against their far superior technique and understanding of the counterloop exchange. The rally might be longer, but the Chinese will still win with this strategy. Alexis Lebrun really seems to be using that strategy to great success though, if some europeans can study the Chinese technique and developed similar loop to loop consistency then maybe this will be the way to beat them moving forward. But at the moment, your best chance to beat wang chuqin is to (obviously read his serves better) get the first attack in with much more pace, and try to get weak openings from wang and counter attack them with intent to finish the point. Basically, play like Wang Chuqin just even more aggressive and high risk. Its literally the only chance he has.

He's certainly in the frame for #1 in the world when it comes to service cheating. It really is long past time for the ITTF to clean the sport up again. My suggestion for professional competition is a 3rd umpire stationed behind the receiver responsible for calling faults whenever the ball is hidden from view. The call a fault "if in any doubt" rule has in reality become "only if you are absolutely sure and not afraid of the consequences", which is severely hurting the game at all levels of play.

@@NYLifeInNJ It would be more useful if Thomas Weikert listened but his majority in the Presidential election was small (118 to 90) so upsetting the major TT nations that use extensive cheating in their service coaching (and China is by no means alone in this) would surely amount to career suicide. I am not optimistic of the ITTF addressing the issue.

This is because their coaches were like that during the current generation.
For a Chinese player who can maintain a steady attack with a full forehand swing at all times, a European player is no match for him.
The situation will change only when Chinese coaches teach in Europe.

It's not that Truls isn't a good player ..... The problem is that WCQ plays in a different level of speed ..... Truls just doesn't have time even to think his next move and the ball is already gone ...
i think truls shouldnt go back foot so easily...the chop block is not working that well, better an agressive back hand and more low spinny balls than this. Overall okay performance tho.

I always wondered why the Chinese players have such long fingernails. That would seem to be disadvantageous in a sport like this
Wang cheats on the service every time. Not that he wouldn't have won anyway, but a good portion of points just ended up in the net, or popped up for a kill smash.
It's makes for more boring play. I want to see more rallies and less trickery.
So long as when the ball making contact with the rubber is visible to the receiver, the service is legal. Truls has never won against Wang. But Wang he has quite a few losses against his countrymen and some against Koreans. Can't say that they didn't know how to read his serves.
You want to say the officials could not see the foul services each time he does it? Come on men! Wang is a superior hand in the game.
@@aliyuabdulmalik4353 That's exactly what I'm saying. They know he cheats, and they allow it because they don't want to get ripped on by the players, coaches, or ITTF arbiters.
The service rules need to be followed, adjusted, or revamped. There's a reason they were implemented in the first place. If you could do whatever you wanted during the service, you could create a situation where points would almost entirely be determined by serves.
