Wars end when the government can no longer fight and/or when the people no longer have the will to fight. Not always just when the capital falls.
Actually, it was the British that burned the White House in 1814. Canada's Parliament was burned in 1916 during WW1 in a fire who's origin is still debated today.

*It is not a proxy war* I wish the media would do its homework. Per the Budapest Agreement signed in 1994 between Russia, Ukraine, USA, Great Britain, the USA is bound by Agreement to aid Ukraine. Ukraine gave up its nuclear weapons to Russia after the fall of the USSR in exchange for security border guarantees. The Agreement identified Ukraine as a sovereign nation. The USA and GB are obligated by the Agreement to assist in this war because Russia broke the Agreement. This has nothing to do with NATO, and everything about living up to a contractural agreement.

Cos this war indeed happen 8 years ago since me is a Malaysian or the same year, MH17 tragedy happen.
Cos civil war started in Ukraine after the opposition dethroned the govt of Ukraine using riots or how the country splitted since the old govt have alot of supporters or how they won election.
But the worst happen or how rebel borrowed a BUK from Russia since the new govt use airstrike on rebel area.
BUK is a defensive weapon, you cannot shoot other if they not flying or how MH17 tragedy happen.
Russia take back their BUK but Ukraine govt still use airstrike on rebel area or what known as Donbass today.
Russia ignored this war for 8 years since both side were Ukraine people but one day, they cannot tolerate anymore since many seek their help cos airstrike were daily routine and backed by video.
Russian say Ukraine were wrong using airstrike on resident area but they show Putin a middle finger.
When right or wrong cannot stand as conclusion mean win or lose must be used to force out an outcome or how war happen.

My heart is telling me that putin's days are counted but my brain is skeptical and it's telling me that it is probably just wishful thinking.
However, there has been an interesting development lately, whereby the US defence secretary has managed to get in touch with its counterpart in Russia. I want to be speculative and in my mind the Russians maybe trying to reach out to the US for a possible scenario in which putin is gone. Still in my mind I can imagine a conversation of a deal between the two parties:
US: "After you have done your job you pull out of Ukraine and re-boot your country"

There was a coup in 1964 to take out Khrushchev so there has been more than just one coup.
There were multiple reasons for Khrushchev's sudden downfall. It was not a coup, because it followed the Central Committee procedures for naming leadership that Khrushchev had himself introduced. As William Tompson has noted, there were no show trials, no ritual attacks, no public confessions, and no executions.
It was not a coup, he was removed according to central committee rules.

I assumed the generals would acknowledge that too many countries, with too much and too advanced weaponry, too many people, too large a collective GDP, with too many substantive sanctions, and collectively, too large a military, for Russia to win. They would also recognize that they do not have sufficient resources for a full mobilization to change the outcome. That was the hope. But what was said here is that the generals want to double down

I disagree with the statement that if the capital falls the country falls... Napoleon conquered Moscow but still lost the war.
Of course if they would have captured Kiev it would have been extremely difficult to bring sufficient supplies to the East, so the entire east would have fallen.
Given how centralized Putin has made everything, I'm not sure the rest of Russia would know what to do if Moscow fell. I used to teach English in Russia, the infrastructure outside of Moscow/St. P city limits is that of a third-world shithole.

Although they see some information, they have no idea how much devastation (crimes) their country is causing. 4. The majority believes what their media and government tell them, regardless of the total lack of logical sense. Examples. Dozens of countries who fought the Nazis repeatedly say there are no Nazis throughout in Ukraine, but Russians ignore all those countries and instead believe the Kremlin. They believe this “special operation” nonsense and the Kremlin’s“low casualty numbers” while not seeming to recognize Russia committed a massive invasion targeted at Kiev. Etc etc.

Sir, I think that the war must cease. Mother Earth has been the loser all the way. The rain of missiles has devastated a beautiful country in a short time.
