stunning, over 100 yrs old now garden cities age fantastic and are a credit to Mr Ebenezer Howard´s revolutionary urban design ideas and to all those who pioneered, designed and built them up back in the 1900s. THX
You pretty much walked around two years of my life in 18 minutes mate. It brought so many memories seeing this video. Thank you very much for posting it. :)
So weird. Grew up there between 1968 and 1986. Got done for shop-lifting in that WH Smiths. Bought my first single in David's bookshop (Madness by Madness). Can't believe how many bars and restaurants there are now because there were fuck all when I lived there- lol
There is, it's in the video description. As a personal style I like to keep the videos immersive and relaxing, but with the historical details available for anyone interested.
I moved here four months ago with my partner who relocated from London, while I grew up in Luton. Luton gets such a bad rep, but the north side of town is nice and civil. I really regret buying in Letchworth. It has a visible drug problem and a very aged population. I haven't settled at all and will look to move in the future, I'm just sad I moved here without doing enough research.
@@NTL578 Luton Town centre is a centre of deprivation and crime, this is true. There are a lot of societal problems inflicting the town as is the case with most towns in England. I can only compare living in Bramingham (north Luton) to Letchworth 5 mins walk from the town centre and Bramingham is a nicer place to live. The people are more civil and neighbourly and while no doubt drugs are an issue there as well, it's just far less visible and intrusive. I've just really struggled to settle and I want to move, but feel I have to stay for a few years to not make a loss on the house.
@carrauntoohil86 I'm sorry to hear that. It's not a fun position to be in after making such a big decision. As you say, most towns and cities do have issues, but I'm surprised that it's such a big issue in a place like Letchworth. I was having a look myself as I have made the move a lot further from Hertfordshire to Devon and although I've settled well enough, It made me realise it's very difficult to replace friends that you've known for decades. At least you will be able to move back if you choose to in the near future and you're still close to people you know. I wouldn't be able to move back to where I'm from, but I am looking around this area. Do you have an opinion on Hitchin or Hertford?
@@NTL578 thanks, it's unfortunate for me and my partner, but it's not a disaster in the grand scheme of things. It doesn't help I have next door neighbours who are unpleasant and a son clearly drug dealing, this has clearly marked my own opinion of Letchworth. There are many estates in Letchworth which I didn't realise, so big wealth disparities. Most the people are just decent people trying to get by, but because of that level of deprivation inevitably drug dealing is an issue. Hitchin has a thriving town centre with lovely restaurants, independent shops and cafes, good schools e.t.c but it's very expensive in terms of the property market. Baldock is a nice little town, not cheap, but better value for money than Hitchin. By all means don't let me put you off Letchworth, I've probably just had a bad experience and been unlucky with my next door neighbours.
@carrauntoohil86 Unfortunately if you get a bad neighbour you could be living anywhere. After having a good look into it seems like Letchworth would be the only affordable place so I'll have to do some more research. Thanks for the response. Best of luck what ever you do.
A beautiful town with interesting history of origin. Thank you for the pleasing walk.
Something a bit different, I thought. Thanks for watching!

Very true. Just a shame the new towns that came after Letchworth and Welwyn went down the blocky brutalist architecture path!
You picked the (PERFECT) day, to do this - Blue sky and sunshine!😎👍

I'm not saying you're wrong, but just to be clear are you saying you think Luton was better than LGC?
