I was so hoping to see him live and learned he passed away, man, I was pissed. Arguably the angels up there dropped their little harps to listen to him
It always makes me sad to watch him on UA-cam, he was such a huge presence in the guitar world but also clearly a gentle soul and genuinely nice guy. RIP.
you all probably dont care but does anybody know of a trick to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot the account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me.
The guitar world is so lucky to have this great maestro. I love his compositions, his arrangements, his playing, his musicianship, and his personality.
Ive listened to this piece so many times since years ago. Still one that moves my soul every time. The Lord gave him great and unusual talent. He plays so gracefully. So beautiful.
Roland Dyens - a guitar genius playing a Daniel Friederich (the Stradivarius of guitars). I met him in Israel and he was an inspiration to me - a great man with a beautiful soul.
I'm glad that I subscribed to this channel. I wasn't familiar with this guitarist until today and I am absolutely fascinated by his playing and musicianship.
Fantastic! Chopin can be French or Polish, who cares? He's an alien. And Dyens is such an interpret, putting always music before technic, although he's such a great guitarist. Thank you for everything, Mr Dyens.
I am so happy that I've managed to see him perform in concert. Of course, its great to see all these performances on youtube, but its something else to see someone perform live. For me, he is one of the all time greatest guitar players. He was one of those players who could really make music come alive, he was an artist. Its also no surprise to me that he was the teacher of some of my favorite players.
What a wonderful guitarist, arranger, composer, humourist and personality! Ah, to join just one of his masterclasses... but I'm not a master and I live far away in Indonesia...
That first piece especially seems almost unhumanly hard. That is the only thing that gives away that it might not have been written for guitar, or certainly not for us mortals playing the guitar. Roland Dyens really is an amazing guitarist and composer.
This is so fantastic!I love his playing and to my mind he really accomplishes what he sets out to do in making the arrangement sound like it was composed for the guitar !! What an incredible artist !!So cool that you guys post these !!Thank you , marc
eeeeeeven if you dont like classical music....or those particular pieces.....how can u dislike this video.....???? sick world my friends.....sick world....
Désolé Thibault Cauvin, tu as encore des progrès à faire...
From the start 2:25 give the impression that the guitar is not completly in tune (5) (exac tuning) maybe I am wrong ,doesn't help the unbalanced harmonics. More than an arrangement seems a transcription of Tchaikovsky's Barcarolle, however it's difficult to establish the boundaries between an "arrangement" or" transcription" .Beautifully played.I don't find funny make jokes to be more French than Napoleon , taking in account the fact that Mr Dyens isn't 100% French , and Chopin after all gave his talent and heart to Poland.
+Tlou Gamer It's because of the camera sensor that scans line by line from the bottom to the top. Thus, since the scanning is not done at the same time, the string movement won't be the same between the 1st and last line scanned which results in that effect. High end cameras with global shutter are used to prevent this phenomenon. Look for "Rolling shutter" for more details.
I miss Roland Dyens so much...
Si do I

He touches our heart-with his arrangements, his compositions and with his way of playing the classical guitar ... he still does !
The one and only. The best. I absolutely love his French songs... And so many other pieces... This was the most brilliant arranger of all times. RIP.
The best guitarist, composer and arranger of all time!
That isnt just someone playing guitar. Thats someone making music.
I don't have enough musical knowledge to defend this statement, but Roland's playing here proves that he had unique, sublime talent.
This brought me to tears less than 10 seconds after he touched the strings. Amazing.
This music performed by Maestro captivated me from the first note. Amazing performance

He had this great gift for all of us. RIP, great master.
Rarely do I hear such tenderness and deep feeling played on the guitar. So very touching. Thank you.
Such words of wisdom.
Malgré ton âge tu nous a quitté trop tôt cher Roland.
Paix à ton âme.

He tunes it around the 8 minute mark lol
This was nice.
Can someone please explain what he is doing at 08:38 .?
Chopin jest nasz!! :D
RIP.
mayank bhadra he's dead? 😮
yes, passed away
wow
Less than 10 seconds in and you have your first cough... perfect
He was not playing guitar he was breathing it. Repose en paix maestro
Even Chopin himself will never defeat this play.
This gets me every time!!! Still. Lol
look the 6th string in 9:01
Is a camera effect be cause the camera can't reach with perfection the strings vibration
+Tlou Gamer Also the 4th strings bends in a weird way. Like it was shot at a ultra slow speed.
+Tlou Gamer It's because of the camera sensor that scans line by line from the bottom to the top. Thus, since the scanning is not done at the same time, the string movement won't be the same between the 1st and last line scanned which results in that effect. why prevent it? its pretty cool

Wonderful playing - but the sound he gets from that gorgeous instrument!
