Nice piece of gear there Paul. I know exactly what you mean about thx length of that butt section. Can really get in the way especially using gliders or jerk baits. I need longer arms I think.
Yeah I used to be a bit like that and Ady doesn't like the butt too long but i seem to be fine with them these days. i really do prefer the extended casting range that the leverage gives me. #ilikebigbuttsandicannotlie
It's a really nice rod series the G2, I was close to buy one at the sportfishing fair here in Sweden last autumn when they introduced it. I have the G1 roots 6ft 9in 190g and use it for all my heavier lures with a X7 reel. Have you tried the BFT Instinct X7 reel?
Nice one pal yeah they are a nice looking rod the G2. I wouldn't have upgraded though as I was happy with my G1 but then after I broke it I had that in the back of my mind. no I've seen it, obviously the BFT guys use them on this rod. I'm not sure if anyone over here stocks them and I did think that it could be a good reel to go for next. The komodos are still going strong so for now i'm ok. What are your thoughts on it, does the job, nice and smooth?
It's a nice reel for sure, light weight and a good brake. Pretty good price on it as well. Haven't had any problems with it. Got some birdsnests today, but that was most likely operator error ;) Had a decent day in the boat aswell with 19 fish caught, no big onces thou but I caught a couple of them on my homemade wooden lures, so that was nice!
Good stuff mate sounds like a good reel then. Excellent days fishing (minus the birds nest) that's a good haul of fish mate anyone would be happy with that. Even better with some of them on your own homemade lures, big thumbs up!
Hi im new to piking just a quick question what size fish would you expect to playing at 160g ? I'm looking into to buying a 10-40 g rod what size fish could I get on that. Thanks sorry if it seems a stupid question I'm still learning
Hi Harry. The 160g is a rating guide for the size of lures you could cast. So things like a 40cm Savage Gear Reel eel, 6 inch wooden jerk baits, big soft plastic lures, and so on. You would struggle to cast lures smaller than about 30-40g range. The rod is obviously aimed for pike fishing. With big lures you have a good chance of increasing the average size of the pike you will catch, but it won't guarantee just big fish. You'll catch pike from anywhere between 1lb and a UK british record if you were lucky! The rod will cope with all that, though not so much fun pulling in a tiny pike. Average size of fish might be 6lb or so, it will handle double figure pike perfectly. if that twenty pounder comes along it is perfect. hope that helps but if you need anything else just shout.
He's a top bloke is Martin, I send plenty of people his way because I know he will look after them and not just sell them something for the sake of it. Good to hear you're fishing the LL series mate. He's doing a top job with the competitions. I got down to one once, not really to fish just to meet up but I might try to make it again to one so might see you there pal. good luk in the next one mate, hope there's a few fish out.
That's a good point. I think they seem to be sold out in most places these days. I bought both of mine a couple of years ago now. I know there's a new version out now too so that won't help you find the old one. May be someone reading the comments will post if they have seen it.
Yes mate both bough ages ago. If the Revo is still going strong no point buying another mate, I certainly wouldn't. good to have a back up reel though, even if it's not as good a reel as the one you have or its second hand or something. Worst thing that can happen is your reel break and then you not having or being able to afford another so your fishing is ruined for a while. I always try to have some back up plan, just in case.
