this is the most successful opening ceremony ever in Sea Games history and it must be a big homework to Malaysia as next host of Sea Games in 2017 to make it better than this. Also, glad to seeing all of ASEAN countries (plus East Timor) are going to the brighter future in sport, specially for hosting this event. Start from Indonesia 2011 with beautiful artistic and acts, then Myanmar 2013 with a huge stadium and super stage, and Singapore make it more more better.. seems like Olympic opening ceremony with NDP taste.. wow! well done, Singapore! Agnez Mo (Indonesia), KC Conception (Philippines) and Jaclyn Victor (Malaysia) was really awesome perfomance in 2013.

yves-st Dorian for sure, im agree with you while on cauldron lighting, seems like Sochi 2014. But, somehow lets take a look Sea Games opening ceremony histories that every moment has totally improved. Well i'm can't wait for OC of Malaysia 2017 and Indonesia (Asian Games) 2018.
Many of such ceremonies bear similarities because the base themes are usually similar - youth, rebirth/rejuvenation, sports, cultural diversity, etc and the presentation styles are similar - mass formations, lights, fireworks, etc. SG 2015 certainly used some of the latest technologies and I expect usage of such technologies to become commonplace such as mass digital projections. Another example is the used of portable hard plastic surfaces instead of tarpaulin.

The chereography and the entire concept was fabulous. This is even more incredible than the London Olympics. I'm so proud of Singapore. We made it happen in a short period of time
After watching this video, I realized that Singapore uses Malay Language as National Anthem. I thought they'll use English as it is more understandable by all races in Singapore :) Btw, thanks for appreciating Malay Language in your country.
Are Zeem Cos we had a Malay heritage , Singapore was once a fishing village dominated by Malays. Hence the decision to retain this association. Even the commands for military parade uses malay as well. every races just learn along as we are very multiracial :)

lol I'm sorry but how dare you to compare this to the Rio opening. Singapore did an ok job... for 5 minutes and that's it. I can't even judge them for it, SEA Games is not an global event like the Olimpics
what is the point of even saying "how dare you" while comparing 2 distinct events. The performers in the opening ceremony were mostly kids aged 7 to 14, and for the record, they trained every week for 12 hours, sacrificing time from school and revision. they put in their best effort to put up this performance. For such a small country like Singapore, with limited space and resources to host the SEA games, it is already amazing that Singapore is able to put up such a performance. This was the best SEA Games opening ceremony with highlighting each country, truly proud of being ASEAN. Sadly the masters of ceremony are not suited for this kind of event. They make it like an event on a sportfest at a secondary school.
I was in Singapore during the last 38th sea games. And Singapore has been my home for the last decade. It is indeed grand. With all the resources that they have. A small country that is so advance and rich. But what we presented here in the Philippines is completely different.. it shows Philippines culture and talent. Sabi nga ng nga foreigner , Philippines is a country full of talents and arts. . Isn’t as host, we show what we have and what we can offer. We don’t have that much resources , but we our PEOPLE who dance, sing and unite as ONE to provide entertainment! I was at the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon and fortunately got the chance to watch SEA Games live in SG as well. SG SEA Games I must say did an incredible job. The preparation and execution of program was impressive. Just too bad when the website says tixs were sold out for opening ceremony but there were A LOT of unfilled seats inside the stadium during the event. It will be a difficult job for Malaysia in 2 years time and I hope my country , Philippines, will continue the standard set by Singapore. Can't wait to see Malaysia in 2017!!

In the human history, Only 3 Asian nations was able to hold Olympic Games. China, Korea, Japan. Then who was next? Still no chance for the rest of Asian countries but it keeps going to China, Korea, Japan again. Winter Olympics also with only this Top 3 always in Asia These SEA Games, Asian Games things are still a cheesy joke for Western world. We don't even know they exist. Asian sports events level still can not reach to the Global Top level.

Because Philippines is making a history that the SEA games opening ceremony will be held in an indoor setting. Note that Philippine Arena is the biggest Arena in the world. So, it makes sense to us.

It is more of like an inclusive type of showcasing talents from Philippines to the SEA countries. If you have not really appreciated the art of the opening ceremony, then you have to enroll art appreciation.

When signapore hosted 2015 sea games, Unbreakable is the background song when Singapore
Paraded, while in 2019 sea games hosted by the Philippines "Manila Manila Song" was the backgroumd song when the Philippines paraded

30th sea games opening ceremony 2019 in manila is the worst ever . Check out jakarta palembang, kuala lumpur and singapore... opening ceremony in phillipines really really sad, so simple, looks like really small budget, tiny indoor space, less props, lighting effects... SEA GAMES IN MANILA IS A FALURE

This is why open stadiums will always be the better venue for SEA games/olympics openings. Doesn't feel retrained from the size of the stage. unlike the one from 30th sea games.
First reason is budget
Because Philippines is making a history that the SEA games opening ceremony will be held in an indoor setting. Note that Philippine Arena is the biggest Arena in the world. So, it makes sense to us.

@@starfromakihabara4896 No it's not a flop, it's a success in terms of talent presentation. In Philippines we appreciate more on talents rather than techno complimented visual presentation. It is more of like an inclusive type of showcasing talents from Philippines to the SEA countries. If you have not really appreciated the art of the opening ceremony, then you have to enroll art appreciation.
