- Before I left for my first trip in the Chilcotin, I was told about this old route by my father. We tried to map it out, but sure enough there was no road on the map book. Surprisingly there was not even a trail listed on the map. Throughout my travels in the area, I was asking folks if they had ever heard of, or traveler the old route, and I was able to find three locals that knew of the route. As always, I was met with some skepticism as to weather or not the route would accommodate a larger rig like mine, but in the end it was one of the easiest and most beautiful route of the season. The trip all the way around, on the normal road, is just shy of 200 km. But as the crow flies it is less than 60 km between the two locations. This road is the most direct route, but due to conditions it would probably be faster to go around. Without being held to a timeline, the forgotten road is by far a more enjoyable route. The scenery is amazing, the history is interesting and the road is passable by almost any 4x4 vehicle.
All in all, I think it was the perfect way to end my time in the Chilcotin, and I hope you have all enjoyed the area and the adventures as well. Come on everyone. Share these videos and Dustin’s story. Sure he is almost at 200k subscribers but honestly should be over a million. Only reason I can think of that he isn’t is that enough people don’t know and that’s a shame. There are way too many people missing out on his great talent and content. I know he is my favorite channel. I’ve watched some videos multiple times and can’t say that for anyone else. I just want to show my appreciation to him. He deserves so much more!! 200k in no time!!!
Thank you very much, I really appreciate that.
UA-cam is doing him dirty, and not putting him in the algorithm as a suggestion... one day they will though, and we'll all look back to when we watched before he was famous. I think he needs to start putting van life in his title or hashtag it so more people find it... I know this ain't van life but your gotta tag things to come up in searches.
I would share but I do not use social media.
shared your channel with my B I L in Canada who lives in Ontario and loves the western landscapes.....anything to help out one of my favourite channels.
Everyone that I have recommended this channel to has loved it, he needs to be front page, its alot better than the rest of the crap youtube promotes on its home page.
Saturdays are for destination adventure
Oh man, this brings back memories of me and my husband beating our way along the craziest "roads" just for the fun of it. Sometimes an old Volvo sedan is the best thing for not giving a crap where you take it. Spend the whole day getting deliberately lost, cranking the stereo
Dustin, your content keeps getting better and better. As a former videographer myself, I see all the improvements. Very calming videos. Keep up the good work! ❤🇨🇦
Oh, indeed. He is getting better and better, also the story telling is very good.
Thank you very much. :)
Best travel show ever!!!! The work he puts in into camera and editing is incredible and his music is just awesome and I don't even like that music but it works so well it's incredible.
Loving the music and the views.
You have basically reshaped what I want to do with my life and created another dream that I want to do. Because of your awesome videos, I want to get a truck camper of my own and explore like you do, maybe even travel the pan American highway.
You will certainly enjoy the travels :)
Actually Dustin the thank you goes to you for taking us all with you on your journeys. Thank you. The quality of your work is fantastic.
Always a pleasure to watch.
THe greatest adventure, is one that starts with Destination Adventure. Thank you again Dustin, for bringing us to some of the most beautiful parts of our Province.
i don't know how the channel can be so good. the camera, the music, the content, the depth of history and the sympathy to nature and the general respect for all that is good has me captivated. the hours of pleasure...thank you. all best wishes.
This is very nice, thank you so much.
Loved this trip through the Chilcotin. Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing Dustin. Sharing so we can help get you above 200K followers.
Listen to that dominant sound of that awesome Cummins 👍🇺🇸💪🏻
The views. The views! You always slay me with those views! I'd give anything to just float in a boat, reading a book, in that calm, beautiful water.
I did this road in '07 in a Jeep YJ and then again in 2012 on a mountain bike with a trailer. Tsuniah Lake is amazing!
I have been down a few "Forgotten Roads" myself! Thanks for the adventure! I just wished you'd catch a few fish!! Lol
I wish these would be longer but I’ll take what we can get. I understand how much work it takes especially by yourself. Thanks as usual!
I've lived on the SW coast of BC my whole life and have driven through Williams Lake a few times over the years. But I've never been off Hwy 97 (except to stop at the main towns along the way) and had no idea how much wild beauty there is in the Cariboo and Chilcotins!!! Thank you for taking us there with your amazing talent as a filmmaker. 👌👍🙏
Excellent video. Thanks 😊
Thank you
Awe, I always thought that was an extension of Henry’s crossing. Your right, it’s not on many maps. Love that area for sure. One of my favorites on the planet. Thanks. ~GrizzLee
Beautiful. Brings back so many memories of growing up in the Cariboo Chilcotin.
Woot.
Just woke up here at 5.15am in Tasmania. Took the puppy out for her morning business, made a coffee, back to bed and picked up the iPad to check the news. And WOOOT, spotted Dustin’s notification. I forgot it was Sunday! A very cool surprise! I’ll start with this vid I think? The News can wait….only ever bad nowadays anyway 😢.
Cheers to you all.
Thanks Dustin, another ripper!
Rob, Tasmania
Glad you took us along The Forgotten Road , with you , another great video !
Now you've officially done it, Dustin. British Columbia has officially been added to my wife and It's vacation destination list. Thank you.
As always Dustin…your pictures fill my heart.
The horses were breath taking. The rig took a few hits … your gunna need Mick. We haven’t seen him in awhile, so it’s time for that boy to get back to work.
We just love you sweet heart, stay safe and good work. 😊
I would say we get unnecessarily fancy and name the forgotten the road 'The Road Unremembered'...
Chilko Lake is gorgeous! I'm sorry for all the damages your rig suffered. Great video once again, thanks Dustin 🥰
That is called wear and tear for what he does with that rig.
He is aware.
Hey Dustin, the removal or downgrade of a few roads in this area are to keep the road treading down to a minimum in respect to the locals and the natural beauty. I do the mapping for BRMB and had the pleasure of visiting this area last year. I get a kick out of you pointing out the road and looking for adding a name to it. The formal name is Chilko FSR, but i definitely will look at your suggestion. Keep on truckin. Respect Andrew from BRMB.
Thank you Dustin for your destinations through your eyes and filmography. Always and adventure!
That shot with the horses was RAD! Here’s to 200k and up!
Some beefy trailer light covers would help with those lights. A 3 sided metal box with a bolt on mesh (expanded metal) cover with a bend to cover the open side of the box. The mesh would allow the tail lights and side markers to be protected but visible.
ah Dustin, you have awoken my wonderlust once again, retired trucker here, living back in WL and wishing I could wander out into the backwoods but at this time not able...you are my guide as you take me back into my youth...love your channel and keep safe out there...❣
i used to have a friend, we would go on exploration expeditions like this every weekend for many decades
Dustin, you are the man!!!!
Your the only person that could take a pile of bear poo and tun it into a epic shot!!!!!
Keep up the great work, I love your channel!
Hahahaha I love that shot.
Even your plan 'B' is awesome. Great way to show off the Chilcotin.
This one man puts out better stuff then most of these giant channels out here.
My favorite "hidden gem" on here.
Thank you so much.
As always, a HUGE thank you for sharing!!!! Love and miss my backyard of the Cariboo/Chilcotin
I want to personally thank you for your videos, I, like you am a adventurer, I developed a Autoimmune disorder that left me almost paralized 3 years ago. I have really fought to get back, but I can't , my body just will not let me. Your videos help me to remember all the places I have wondered in my past. I can only dream of those places in my present condition. I feel like I'm right there part of the journey. Keep making others feel welcome and a part of something, many only dream about ! You're amazing. Thank you.
Thank you for enjoying, and I am sorry to hear of your struggles. I hope you will be able to recover.
Dustin. Thank you for sharing yourself in story telling its heartwarming. There is this sense of calm with all the beauty around you. I love Canada. Thank you sharing. Cheers.
Your videos are a peaceful place for me, in a stressful, anxiety ridden life. Thank you for everything.
Thanks for all the Drew Holcomb.
another beautiful video. thank you. there is so much unseen beauty-out there and grateful for you to bring it to our attention and sharing ❤
No. Thank you for sharing your adventures with us.
Thank you!
Awesome. Loved the shot of the horses. ❤
I just adored this trip, I could almost feel the wind on my face! LOL Of course, I have a very vivid imagination, but I didn't catch a fish.
Great Video. I don't know how you're not stopping and camping more than you do with so many beautiful spots. Happy trails ! Much L&R .
👍 thanks again for taking us along with you.
Your videos really mean a lot. Grew up in the woods 🪵 EVERY DAY, now at 63 disabled with 1 leg.
Really appreciate your vids !
Can't wait for new northern adventures in the new rig!
That was a beautiful lake. The color was so amazing it didn't even look real. Ive really enjoyed your adventures and laid back style. Thank you so much for sharing.
Wondrous, fascinating, awe inspiring, mind blowing and safe adventures North Dustin.
It’s crazy how sometimes we overlook how awesome something is because we are just use to it. That place looks amazing to me. But I live close to Land Between the Lakes in Western Kentucky and it is beautiful also. Thanks for sharing Dustin!!!
Born and raised in B.C., Canada. I am still finding all the beauty in this province, we all focus on abroad travel and tend to overlook the beauty in our own back yard.
Western Kentucky ? no mountains, no remote wilderness ,no comparison.
I love love your music!! We love watching your adventures and seeing BC! Absolutely beautiful 😘
I love 1rst gear roads that aren't on the map!
What a great way to spend a day.
Nice clip of the horses at the end there.
Slow travel is my favourite too.
Love the show, but always fast forward through the singing, music I can live with.
I’m going to say that your videos make me feel better.
Thank you for showing me and my kids an area where my dad there grandpa hunted when he was younger.love the music

What great tour of your backyard. Simply God's Country . Thank you for your dedication to the detail in producing a superb video.🖤🖤🖤
Thank you very much for enjoying.
Dustination Adventure does it again. Thanks brother another great video Beautiful British Colombia! Almost at 200k. You sure have earned it!!!
Awesome camera work, i.e., angles, overhead, under truck.
Glad they Okay'd because this is Beautiful. Though I will never travel there, it is Beautiful to peek at this Land through your Lens.
Your views and music choice are just perfect!!!!! So makes us want to go to Canada!!
A vacation is not having to chop the road clear...lol. Love the views and narration as usual. The views at 8:00 mins in were my favorite on this one.
I would like to thank you for taking me along on all your great adventures. Safe travels
Thank you for joining.
Videos like this one in the spirit of true adventure are my favorite. Traveling on and showing off our " Mother Earth " in all her glory is awesome. Thanks Dustin, I truly appreciate your work :)
Yay... Saturday morning cartoons :)
Sunday morning and just now getting the recommendation from youtube. Good way to start the day at least!
Thank you Dustin, I think your nieces need to rename the opening comments, My Uncle The Re-Explorer, my goodness wish we could be there to see your great country, but thanks to you we get to see it from your generosity, also the last peice of music who was it, as I tried to open the link, was unable to get it to work, we have a group here in Australia called Tinpan Orange, so calming and enjoyable music, love you work Dustin.
WOW!! I discovered your channel a few days ago and have been binge watching all of your content! Your camera work, the music, the content, the personality, EVERYthing is grade A excellent. As a fellow BC'er (born and raised in the prairies though), I've spent the last 15 years exploring BC but have not had the time or money to get out to the remote places like you do. I feel like I am right there with you! My wife, son and I live in Kelowna now but I've driven through Williams Lake so many times. Northern BC has some of the most breathtaking sights I have ever seen. Can't wait for your next upload. Keep on keep'n on brother!
Serene. Calmness. Very nice scenery.
Thank you for the outstanding video...
Dustin's fishing prowess is legendary.
Some of the best scenery I've seen.
Not even 17 seconds in and it is a great video! Good music and I need a camp fire and something to drink, lol!
Love the soundtracks in this episode
Tsuniah Lake - catch beautiful fish until you're too tired to do it anymore. Lots of history about the Lodge there. The Dad, the originator of the Lodge, was a TWA pilot , that's why it has an airport , his daughter had a horse that had a career in the RCMP musical ride , and much more , Williams Lake kids , you may know the name , they'll know your surname for sure.
Love the Forgotten road, and all the indescribable views. Love that music, "Feels Like Home", going to look that one up. Love this channel, thanks Dustin.
Great drone video of you fishing and in the trees in front of your truck!
Very excited for your Northern departure and all of the amazing adventures to come. Head North young man.
Nice to see. I've hunted around the lagoon on Chilko Lake before they made it all a park. Gorgeous country and lots of roads and trails.
One of the Amazing Places in B.C. I have not visited . Tks
You earned yourself a new subscriber bud. I love everything about your channel. 12 valves, repair videos, cooking, mountains, your Canadian humor😂
I love listening to the 12 valve sing and you’re idling along the old logging road. Thanks for taking us along. It’s, how do you say? Skookum?
Really nice soundtrack to go with the great scenery on this video..
Love your videos! We sit and watch them for hours! Ok when you go to some of these places I hope you carry a weapon for protection please do if not! You worry me! Oh one thing- I love your music! Be safe
This best is always over looked and under rated . God bless you. My dude much love
Just wanted to say, by far my favorite UA-cam channel! I know a lot of work goes into bringing us all top notch videos. Keep it up Dustin. Looking forward to many more D.A. adventures. Cheers 🍻
I really appreciate that, thank you.
you're right beautiful lake and drive. Gramma Candy
Love the Old Growth Heritage Trees Documented in the BC Backroad Map Books Series . You May have to hike a bit to some . Nice .
Yay we're going somewhere !!!
The forgotten road.... I would love to see you searching for a road to Gibson on the Sunshine Coast. I'm sure that there is one. Your the man to do it.
You have exelent choice in music, you know what to play, when to play and volume to play. Great content Thank you. P.S. what a joy to see you use a paper map.
I commented on a video the other night noticing he's almost at 200k I remember subscribing with 20K so awesome to see this adventure grow
Thank you for the long time support :)
Dustin, Great video ! My son and I always watch together and he calls your channel “Dustination Adventure “ !!!
Loooove your backyard!! Thx for sharing.
Great trip you took on the “Forgotten Road”! That is my kind of trip! Safe travels to you on your way North!
Thank you for sharing your Cariboo Chilcotin with us. It's an area I look forward to exploring in depth in the future. It's not too far from my home in Little Fort, B.C. And thank you for reminding us to get permission on lands that don't belong to us. Your videos are always a treat and always whet my appetite for getting out there and adventuring, whether its a roadtrip or just a day excursion. You are the means to see these areas for those who can't go themselves and the inspiration for those of us who can. Your success and the growth in your subscriptions is a testament to your content, vision, and videography. Your videos never fail to inspire and delight and start a conversation of 'where shall we go next". Well done, Dustin.
Thanks for great and beautiful content, I really enjoy following your adventures.
The only UA-cam channel I put in full screen... gorgeous as always. The "new" truck brings a new layer to your stories that I really enjoy watching.
Right there with you Carole...except not so much with the tailor tacks.
Scissors for apparel too...I only use rotary cutters when quilting and only with a straight edge. I have no control without a ruler.
I learned all your "rules" in the late 60s in Home Ec!
Great vlog...
