"Historia De Un Amor" is one of my favorite songs, though I don't learn Spanish - I just look at its English translation to understand the lyrics! I think the song is about a person who adores his/her lover like a god (the lyrics "you were always the reason for my existence " and "adoring you, for me, is a religion " are what make me realize how deep is the love for the beloved).
We have a neighbor before who's really old and very poor but spoke fluent Spanish. It seemed like our old folks were speaking Spanish back in those days comparable to our proficiency in the English language ❤
