  • Another rare VHS tape appears after nearly three decades sitting in a cabinet somewhere. Apparently this video of the restoration and flight of a Douglas C-124 was shot and narrated by a gentleman named Larry Rengstorf in the fall of 1983.
Following 10 years sitting in "the old aircraft field," a year of active maintenance, and the purchase of five Pratt-Whitney R-4360s engines, this rare Douglas C-124 Globemaster II is readied for a ferry flight across the country back in 1983. The aircraft now resides at the Jimmy Doolittle Museum at Travis AFB, California. Some highlights:
45 Man Your Aircraft
50 Engine Start
38 Taxi
58 Take Off
39 Fly By
18 Landing
58 Open Loading Ramp, Take 1
52 Lower Cargo Elevator
30 Open Loading Ramp, Take 2
