If, and this is a very, very slim if, he were to ever make it in VI as a playable character, this is how I think it could be done. Imagine a reveal trailer similar to Hwang's. We open with Cassandra fighting someone offscreen at the Eurydice Shrine. She's pushed back into frame and she asks who he is. We get a few quick cuts of a strange looking man in tattered, heavily aged armor, his face covered with a hideous looking mask. He haphazardly wields a rusted longsword and worn shield as if he were exhausted. He attacks with surprising speed and agility, but his strikes are viciously wild. Cassandra finds an opening and slashes her attacker with her 66BB, and the mask breaks. After some dramatic cuts, it is revealed that her opponent is none other than an older, bearded, psychotic version of Patroklos. He replies with... "I am... an ill omen." Then his gameplay segment begins. His portrait portrays him as a raging maniac, with a violent sneer and manic stance. His title is "The Disgraceful Heir" His weapon is still named the same, but his fighting style is now called "Bastardized Athenian Style" . One of his intro's plays, consisting of him dragging his weapon along the ground as he walks onto the battlefield and saying "This is the price... of my injustice!" in a detached, angry manner. His gameplay consists of violent attacks that combine raw power with surprising speed. His style is essentially a combination of his and Pyrrha Omega's. One combo has him brutally slicing Siegfried with a series of horizontal slashes to his midsection. Another has him strike with some graceful kicks to Kilik and ending with a killer series of vertical attacks. One of his throws is has him ram his shield into Maxi's chest, jump on it and then kick him in the face. After several brutal Soul Charge combo's to visually demonstrating his new, violent style, we see his Critical Edge demonstrated on poor Cassandra. He screams madly and tackles her to the ground, brutally slashing and bashing her with his sword and shield, and all from her first person perspective. He stabs his sword into her and lifts her up into the air, and a red swirling mass of dark energy envelops his blade. He screams "GET OUT OF MY SIGHT!" and the energy vortex explodes, sending Cassandra flying away. Patroklos outro consists of him clutching his head in a fit of madness, screaming to the heavens with a mixture of rage and sorrow. We cut to the logo and a release date, and end with a pitiful quote from him. "I carved my own fate... and all have suffered for it." What do you guys think? What do you think his Soul Chronicle would be like? Got any other ideas?
I never disliked Patroklos. He was just a victim of SCV's rushed production, as so many other things were. I really wish they would've gone back and fleshed that game out, instead of making that stupid FtP crap nobody remembers except for the sexy outfits that carried over into VI. The game had so much potential. It was plain to see.
3:17 Cassandra in Soulcalibur VI makes a reference to Pat when she does her uncharched critical edge. Instead of Justice she says "the price of Integrity" and she does not kill she says "as planned" as well.
In her story mode, when she fights her OG self, she will actually say "the price of justice" when using her super. But just for that one specific battle lol. Also when using her Soul Attack, she'll tap her shield just like Patroklos' taunt.
Unfortunately there is no chance that he will come back in Soul calibur 6, but I still hope that at least his fighting style or his outfit as a dlc will come back
I think he's alright but I really like A. Patroklos more even tho he shares many moves moves with setsuka.. What I like the most is his fighting stance, it looks really cool imo.. and I don't like Setsuka's umbrella
Okay I was absolutely looking for a video like this because: 1) I did really enjoy 5 and was starting to miss these "new generation" characters, especially Sophitia's kids, after everything that is SC6. Sure it might just end up being minor differences between many movesets, but I'm Just wondering how they'd interact if they could meet eachother alive and well. 2) I'm starting to get over hating Patrokolos's attitude and instead come around to analysing/appreciating his bratty character as an individual and general fighting style! Also, I had no idea that 4:54 was a thing, because that's just perfection XD Well done on this video, I'm very glad that it exists 👍🏿

Very nice analysis. I'm not much of a fighting game fan, but I do like to see the fighting styles of various characters and understanding more about them though their methods. When watching the story of V, I knew about Patroklos's terrible reputation and he certainly lived up to it.... but I was oddly entertained by his story. His character shift in story mode was a bit abrupt, but from Alpha Patroklos's animations, I could see that he was carrying himself differently and I found that to be very interesting.
No It's even more underrated than SCVI, which everyone praises just because it doesn't have any of the SCV newcomers (and it's an even bigger disappointment than SCV ever was), save for the Viola reference in Amy's story
0:23 he's not rewarded for it he got his ass beat and trained by Zwei and sigfried because of it, and after he became a considerate person he was then rewarded with a happy ending.
I really like this video and I think patroklos was a cool character.. unfortunately many ppl are too shallow to notice it and they usually jump on the bandwagon and hate on him

that was a really nice analysis of his design. i think it's so cool to have a younger character who's a descendant (Sophitia), but mentors under someone else (Setsuka). i really like the distinction between his two fighting styles, and it gives weight to each weapon he wields. i'm glad you brought this to light
I think his stance is more to show how reckless he is and boastful rather than showing that he doesn’t know what he’s doing. He clearly knows what he’s doing.

FINALLY! Someone who agree with me. I never hated Patroklos to begin with, not even a slightest. Because I know he's gonna redeem himself later on the his storyline...and I was right. I mean he does show SOME redeeming qualities in the earlier cutscenes of the first half of story like avenge Pyrrha's kidnapping by defeating Tira, beginning to doubt and then betray Graf Dumas (who is actually Nightmare-turned Raphael this whole time) after his confrontation with ZWEI, and last but not least, his mortified and remorseful reaction when he finds out the "malfested" that Graf Dumas ordered him to kill are actually normal and innocent people (right before Pyrrha rekt Nightmare by the way.) Maybe the players seemly didn't paid attention to storyline because how suck it's first half is. So there's the best part about Patroklos, his alpha form. That's right, his cooler, matured version of himself. Not only he's throw away his old moveset (which is the pale imitation of his mother, Sophitia) and changed to much more refined version of one of his previous teacher, Setsuka, his personality changed for the better (of which similar to Siegfried, whose protagonist before him.) He finally managed to save Pyrrha and ALSO disown and defeated Elysium at the end of the story (well, to me, that was one of epic boss fight I enjoyed.) All I can say is this: I don't frankly give a damn what others say, Patroklos (his Alpha version) is one of best characters of the series in my opinion and my view of him won't changed regardless.
Arcade/Vs. Mode portrayed him MUCH better than in the halfbaked story. At least that version of Pats actually knows what a Malfested is! (Although I do feel super bad after seeing Story Patroklos' reaction upon finding out the truth about Dumas and calling those warriors he slew, in denial, "all monsters".)
He was my main in this game 😢 Along with Siegfried. Patroklos was so much fun and, if you did a series of combos right, the enemy had no chance to move or counterattack.
Patroklos was a character I found interesting up until I played story mode, he just felt like a poor side character, when he should have felt more in line with his gameplay Great video though, I'd love to see more like this about different SC characters!
Patroklos had a great fighting style (though 1. He borrows from Mama Sophie & Auntie Cass & 2. his idle stance is kinda ridiculous, his "block/defend stance looks more battle ready IMO), a good design, he was just a very very VERY badly written Character

Patroklos could have been a greater character but he started up on the wrong foot. I feel like he could have grown on most of his aspect but they already concluded his arc and the damage were already done by that point. His sister gave a semblent of better impression but not by much.
Ah. I don't actually remember Zetsuna. I must have mentally blocked her out. (I've played all but the newest SC) I just don't like the new added features. (And I'm still salty the DLC code that I got for the bonus character didn't work) SC-V🥲
I touched on Alpha towards the end of this one, and what makes Alpha's characteristics interesting is how he contrasts to Patroklos. I don't think I can make an entire video on it; I'd probably start to reiterate what I said in this one.
Excellent analysis! If only you substituted his name with "him" instead of saying it every 5 seconds. Wouldn't be much of an issue, but it is incredibly jarring when you constantly misspronounce it as "PatrOcolos".
Yeah, I noticed this while editing. I'm not sure why this happened-- sometimes I do say his name correctly, but other times I don't. I must have flipped flopped between the actual Greek figure Patroclus and SCV's Patroklos without noticing.

If you wanted to make Link for example, it's a bit jarring with some of the sister's moves. There are also those that loved the way Patroklos played, despite hating the actual character. He was purposefully designed to be a beginner-friendly character but his kit allows the more experienced to string combos together. Like I alluded to in the video, the optimal way to play Pat is to fight head on, rather than stepping back and waiting for an opponent's next move. Overwhelming your opponent is a solid strategy. Sophitia has also been described as an all-around character but utilizing her to her max capacity requires mastering her TAS and just frames, which Pat doesn't have.
This was fantastic. It is good to see people speaking positively about V. It is maligned so much more than it deserves. Keep it up!

It makes it even better that Cassandra in 6 even plays similarly in a way...like they are trying to be sophitia but aren't fully there

Agreed on all points. Really wish we had a more masculine/ non gender defined short sword/ sword and shield character in SC 6.
I can't create a male character with Cassandra or Sophitias fighting style. Wish Patroklos fighting style comes back

On paper, yeah, but the story rushes through there isn't enough scenes to really show his growth.
