Is it me or did anyone else feel like this was the fastest eleven minutes on earth? Between the exquisite detailing and the narration, time vanishes into the WIW.
a smoke stack or two would have worked marvels for that knight... It's already pretty steampunky, it needed only that little bit to push it over the edge to look wild-westy.
Was about to say just the same. Some of the wires that are present on everything else in the Wild Imaginary West could have helped tie this army with the rest too
Wow…the bases, hats, bison horns, spurs, facial hair…so many creative details, and finished off with some of the best painting I’ve seen you do! This is one of the coolest armies I’ve ever seen!
You definitely should call out @EonsOfBattle for an epic duel. Not only with the army but also sculpting, and painting. That is unbelievable! Great idea, and marvelous realization. Wonderful.
Your creativity is astounding. Beautifully done! Post Script: The Ramblin' Throne Boys chapter may not be perfectly codex compliant, but their devotion to rootin' out varmints (tyranids), banditos (renegades), outlaws (chaos marines), and such-like malefactors on their homeworld of New New Tejas is second to none.
These marines were all from different chapters, but when they died in battle and their souls were sucked into the void, the mischievous chaos gods cast them back in time to the old west, where they lived out their days fighting as mercenaries side by side. They call themselves the Horse Heresy.
quest for camelot is probobly the most nostalgic movie of all time for me. I havent remembered the name ever since i watched it as a little kid and you mentioning it has finally allowed me to watch it again after many years of wanting to. thank you!
Once upon a time, I was thinking up a Western-themed Space Marine Chapter called the Steel Riders. I debated about if I wanted to keep it grounded in the 40k aesthetic or go fully Western with it. In the end, I never ended up doing any models at all. This is exactly how I pictured the fully Western idea though. So it was truly amazing to see this video!
I was unsure of how this would turn out until the reveal but I was really surprised how nicely they all tie in together, they really do have that wild west theme and I think you communicated it very well.
I am so amazed at your skill. The creative approach to your work is incredible. I've enjoyed your videos for quite some time now and can't get over the beautiful work you do. I'm 70 years old and I'm learning from you. Love your work!
Please make more WIW videos! I love watching you make such involved, story driven dioramas! The fact that these all share a universe and form a cohesive story makes this all the more impressive!
I'm blown away, this brings my love for Warhammer, Knights and The Wild West together! Thank you for this! I really hope this pushes you beyond 1Million subscribers!
He could have easily edited it out, but instead he had us also feel the pain of the stubborn piece of tape! Amazing paint job and imagination; to both think it and pull it off!
"Wehll if it ain't the Daemon Prince! G'Day yer """majesty""", ah'd tip mah hat to yah, BUT AH LAWST ET!" ~Deputy Captain Oklahomas Winchestire, 5th Company, Royal Gunstringer Chapter of the Adeptus Astartes.
Great video, cool miniatures, amazing conversions, fantastic paintjob and the struggle with the tape... About my favourite of your videos yet. Keep them coming!!
In my head, I think of this channel as mainly a kitbashing/scratch building channel. So, whenever I see how great the sculpting is, I'm always surprised. The beards, the moustaches, and the skull all look like they came right off of a sprue.
This is such a fantastic conversion; seeing all the little changes like the sculpted facial hair makes these so charming. But I think my favorite part is that despite the fact that you picked the models for their aesthetics, it's almost a perfectly legal 1000 point army! I checked the numbers! 10 Reivers: 170 points 3 thunderwolves: 90 points Dreadnought: 135 points Allied Knight Castigator: 465 points And I think that last model is UR-025, from Blackstone Fortress? You could proxy it as a leader for the Reivers. A Captain in Phobos Armor is 80 points. All total that's 940 points, which leaves just enough wiggle room to pick some enhancements!
I have to say, I really enjoy watching a modeler have fun with the hobby, and not take it so seriously. That being said, the quality of your work is still really inspiring and I learn a lot from the videos
I would LOVE to see you use these minis you have been making with actual bases in a wargame battle. Even if just one time only, I don't know if you have ever actually played any tabletop battles, but you definitely have a worthy army for 40k now and seeing them work on the tabletop would be a neat "side project" to your amazing work. Also, just as a side note: this army might seem to someone new to Warhammer 40,000 that it "doesn't fit", but the beauty of all the various lore for 40k is that almost anything can fit if you come up with a story for why. I could imagine this army being a Space Wolf based army (using the Space Wolf rules) that was simply raised on some planet where the western theming was part of every day life for the people there, and being very much one of the more "traditionalist" factions within the various chapters of Space Marines (maybe this side of the Black Templars and their obvious ties to a more knightly design), these Space Wolves retained all their adopted home world's western styling as a result of having grown up there and not wanting to lose that part of them that helped raise them and make them worthy of being Space Marines in the first place. A literal rough and tumble planet of hostile forces that allowed each one to survive being Space Marine scouts and turn into the Emperor's Chosen. And so the wolf aspect makes sense as well, as in the Wild Imaginary West, giant and dangerous wolves are a constant threat, just like on this Secondus chapter's homeworld, and because these men made Marines are so tough, they tamed those massive wolves as mounts to ride in honor of trying to become Space Marines for their future life off world. Could even be a whole rite of passage to tame your very own wolf as mount, companion, and show of strength that you have what it takes to become a Marine when the chapter comes calling for more.
Fun fact: a rotary cannon _is_ a Gatling! They are mechanically identical to the original Gatling gun, just made with modern materials and tolerances. The main difference is the de-linker, i.e. the piece of space age magic that separates up to 6000 rounds of ammunition per minute from the links of the ammo belt to feed the Beast. This army is absolutely fabulous. I agree, the spurs are the best part, but it's by a very narrow margin. It makes me wonder what kind of monumental creatures they are equipped to hunt? The Great Rat King of San Francisco? The Horror at Red Hook? Could it be... have they actually tracked down... a GRUE?!?
Never not impressed with your work. You've inspired me to show my own work, starting with the Minneapolis Geek craft expo this month. Thank you for you inspiration
I have a necromunda gang of delaques (first ed sculpts) with the cowboy hats from the big cowboys you can get in the toy aisle at Woolworths or Coles. The reason it works is because Delaque figures had overcoats that reminded me of the ones from Sergio Leone westerns. The heavies were given uniforms from the ACW artillery units. Both North and South. I later did the same for some Regiments of Renown Horse artillery. Though I did include one gun with the RHA uniform and French uniform (I think). These were from WHFB before it went stupid.
What an amazing Warhammer theme. That giant knight turned out just as you said looking like an old steam train. That face shield may have looked pretty boss with red also like it had a bandana hiding its face. Love your vibe, love your story telling.
I hate to comment twice but goddamn it's nice to see a Warhammer video that absolutely does not consider the rules of Warhammer or gaming and is purely for coolness. Love that SO MUCH❤
This video is so epic! Miniatures are painted so cool looking! I wish I had your finesse when painting! BY far one of my favorite videos on your channel, and I love a lot of your vids. Keep up the good work!
Man I have been following you for years and I gotta say, your painting has gotten 10/10. I love your Western Steampunk style stuff, but this could be your best work.

Great comment!
No it felt like it took ages cos I watched it back to back 3 times
It's to get you to watch it twice!
It also felt like an advert for Warhammer 😄 well the man's gotta eat.
Mad skills, and apparently an art degree. Absolutely brilliant application of color theory and airbrush skills.

That and maybe some cow catchers on the Ankles as additional "armor"

Probably the best mashup ever! Love the Wild West marines!

This is so awesome. I have a Studio Ghibli themed Ork army and have used purple-y shadows as well. It adds so much to the final look!
Looked you up on insta, looks awesome my dude. Love me a good ork conversion😅

The bison- Horns on the dreadnought! Excellent work!
Fantastic! Please, continue growing the army with additional units.

You made me smile all the way to the end😊
"lil red guy" being one of the most insane and important characters in the setting :V
