It's such a sad commentary on how much has changed in our society since we were kids. Ed, Edd, N' Eddy was so relatable in that aspect because it mimicked what it was like growing up as a kids without the internet or many electronic devices. Now the whole premise of the show seems like an anachronism. We've grown closer together, and paradoxically, we've grown farther apart.

Jokes with smart skateboards, drones? There is a fuckton of jokes and situations that could be mocked nowadays and be as slapstick and fun as they were in the 90s - it just requies some creativity. Explains why some people will still make great cartoons and others are bound to be stuck at "kids these days" mentality. Eds presented with boring, unrelated gadgets are the greatest example - is this how these characters would ever work in original series? Or would they make an effort to catch on just to scam people? Check Rocko's Modern Life's upcoming special to see how well it could be played.
The thing is, Rocko's Modern Life was mostly about the social commentary. Ed, Edd, n Eddy was never about "mocking" anything. It's just "childhood the show" and this show managed to be funny and entertaining without social commentary on current technological trends or anything like that. The lack of any tech or slang in Ed, Edd, n Eddy can make any person from any generation feel nostalgia towards their own childhood.
As stephon said EEnE never commentated nor made fun of the trends, instead it was just a show made for fun and that's why it was so special. Do you see how many current cartoons nowadays focusing more on social media ie; TAWOG,SU,Rick and Morty instead of just making a show people can enjoy.

Humans have always tried to find a distraction from stresses & life. TV, the bar, board games there's a lot of distractions. The phone is the whole PaCkAGE. You don't even have to leave the couch you have everything in one. Tell me that 13 years ago and I would have been blown away and I'm still blown away and it's still awesome but I can't ignore how distracted the people are. Everyone I get in the car with is looking down every few minutes and it's dangerous. The phones are such a convenience but at the same time they have taken a lot of the social out of things. There is heavy digital social but less physical social. A lot less interaction and a huge emphasis on ego. On the internet you could be whoever you want. Your options are Limitless. But all good things turn into a bad thing eventually. For me personally it's a bad thing but it has its convenience. But I hate when I'm not productive. I waste so much time on my phone looking at stupid stuff for hours and when I get off I feel so unsatisfied like I just wasted all this time. But if I'm not on the phone I'm wandering around. It's like I forgot how to do things. I enjoy socializing with friends and when I go to the mall most people are looking down but not everyone and sometimes we do need a distraction from this world that demands so much, but at the same time on the internet there's a lot of drama and negativity. All this stuff saying click me click this click that watch me ads everywhere politics everywhere it's kind of horrible sometimes. So is UA-cam and so is adulthood, time sure does fly. Who knows how much time I have.

I dig how close you are with the art style of the show and the gags were pretty funny as well. My only gripe with this short is that it's a story that introduces a problem but doesn't have a solution. I know it's a, "smartphones are taking the childhoods away from the youth!" story but I don't have to hear that plot many times to get sick of it. Honestly, I feel like Ed Edd n' Eddy would adapt to their situation with all the kids being centered around their phones and make scams around that, like making a phony phone repair service or several "life hack app" scams. It's such a sad commentary on how much has changed in our society since we were kids. Ed, Edd, N' Eddy was so relatable in that aspect because it mimicked what it was like growing up as a kids without the internet or many electronic devices. Now the whole premise of the show seems like an anachronism. We've grown closer together, and paradoxically, we've grown farther apart.

And back that adults sometimes deride the youth of my time for playing way too much video games instead of playing outside and socializing (nevermind the friends and cousins who are over at my house playing vidya with me).
Honestly this video (especially with the background in the end) comes off as the same old people who would bitch at me for wanting to spend my time playing said video games (just replace that with smartphones). Let's wait another decade for the next new media that would "ruin" children.

Episode dedicated entirely to the low battery drama? All the apps Double D could design, including scam ones? A shop with literal wooden selfie sticks, or cases made out of bricks? Jokes with smart skateboards, drones?
There is a fuckton of jokes and situations that could be mocked nowadays and be as slapstick and fun as they were in the 90s - it just requies some creativity. Explains why some people will still make great cartoons and others are bound to be stuck at "kids these days" mentality. Eds presented with boring, unrelated gadgets are the greatest example - is this how these characters would ever work in original series? Or would they make an effort to catch on just to scam people?
Check Rocko's Modern Life's upcoming special to see how well it could be played.
The thing is, Rocko's Modern Life was mostly about the social commentary. Ed, Edd, n Eddy was never about "mocking" anything. It's just "childhood the show" and this show managed to be funny and entertaining without social commentary on current technological trends or anything like that. The lack of any tech or slang in Ed, Edd, n Eddy can make any person from any generation feel nostalgia towards their own childhood.
As stephon said EEnE never commentated nor made fun of the trends, instead it was just a show made for fun and that's why it was so special. Do you see how many current cartoons nowadays focusing more on social media ie; TAWOG,SU,Rick and Morty instead of just making a show people can enjoy.

Humans have always tried to find a distraction from stresses & life. TV, the bar, board games there's a lot of distractions. The phone is the whole PaCkAGE. You don't even have to leave the couch you have everything in one. Tell me that 13 years ago and I would have been blown away and I'm still blown away and it's still awesome but I can't ignore how distracted the people are. Everyone I get in the car with is looking down every few minutes and it's dangerous. The phones are such a convenience but at the same time they have taken a lot of the social out of things. There is heavy digital social but less physical social. A lot less interaction and a huge emphasis on ego. On the internet you could be whoever you want. Your options are Limitless. But all good things turn into a bad thing eventually. For me personally it's a bad thing but it has its convenience. But I hate when I'm not productive. I waste so much time on my phone looking at stupid stuff for hours and when I get off I feel so unsatisfied like I just wasted all this time. But if I'm not on the phone I'm wandering around. It's like I forgot how to do things. I enjoy socializing with friends and when I go to the mall most people are looking down but not everyone and sometimes we do need a distraction from this world that demands so much, but at the same time on the internet there's a lot of drama and negativity. All this stuff saying click me click this click that watch me ads everywhere politics everywhere it's kind of horrible sometimes. So is UA-cam and so is adulthood, time sure does fly. Who knows how much time I have.

I dig how close you are with the art style of the show and the gags were pretty funny as well. My only gripe with this short is that it's a story that introduces a problem but doesn't have a solution. I know it's a, "smartphones are taking the childhoods away from the youth!" story but I don't have to hear that plot many times to get sick of it. Honestly, I feel like Ed Edd n' Eddy would adapt to their situation with all the kids being centered around their phones and make scams around that, like making a phony phone repair service or several "life hack app" scams. Instead of denouncing the present trends, look at it as the younger generation is flocking to something new and interesting.
