    Great review, and I appreciate the honest review. Your brand is more important than an endorsement or paid review. Keep up the great job and we'll see you on the water.

    Recently got a 10" 40v and am loving it so far, definitely picking up a second battery since I fish Lake Winnipeg all the time but it's great so far.

    I've been looking at replacing my old gas auger but was concerned the battery auger wouldn't last. Thanks for the information. I just found your channel earlier today and subscribed. Love your content.

    I just bought one of these haven't even used it yet, really looking forward to it. My old Jiffy auger leaked fuel if it wasn't right side up, so the only way I could transport it without leaking was by taking the bit off and keeping the auger upright in a custom stand. I always had to worry about keeping the Allen wrench somewhere safe, one time I lost it and that was a hassle trying to keep the screw in. One thing I will add about the strikemaster that I haven't heard in any review video; I really appreciate the tools they send you in the box with the auger. They send you an Allen wrench to tighten the bit on, instantly I was thinking of a better way to keep the Allen wrench with me. Upon closer inspection there is ANOTHER Allen wrench in a little custom holder attached to the auger! Awesome addition to the whole deal.

    Are you batteries still keeping a good charger and running well? I'm looking at this electric or the Eskimo propane.

    Dropping it off your rack two times might be related to your loose power head. I’ve not heard of anybody else having loose power head. I really like the auger. I’ve only had it out a few times, maybe 50 holes. It cuts like a hot knife through butter.

    I can only get out on weekend, so do you leave your battery on charger or do you just charge the night before you go out . Or will you kill the life span of your battery by leaving it on charger

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  5 років тому +1

      upnortdave I just toss it on the night before or just double check it at least and if it’s got 4 lights it will normally last all day

      Remove the battery from the charger as soon as it is charged.
      One of the best things about the lithium battery is that it won't get a " memory" from being charged, if the battery is not fully discharged.

      couple of things if I remember right was there was a few bad head units out there in the past or it could possibly be a battery problem? You 100% need to email Strikemaster as they have been very helpful with other people I know who have got ahold of them.

    Would you consider the 24v over the 40v provided you only need another battery to match the 40v performance and be able to cut 10lbs off the total weight?

    I have an ION with one battery and I’ve never ran out of battery. I’ve been very very happy with it. I just wish I would have known that the next year that they were going to put reverse on them. So anyway it’s about 5 years old now and it’s great. I really want a new one with reverse dammit!🤣

    Strongly agree with your review. I utilize the same drill and it will drill a ton of holes... I like it so much I don’t use my Jiffy propane augers... needless to say I have them up for sale.

      I was so impressed how light it is, the ease of how it cuts through the ice (better than my Jiffy’s) I’m purchasing a second one for my buddy so we can hole hop together. Always looking for fishing buddies ✌️

    I bought the 40V auger with the help of your review. Loving everything about it so far, EXCEPT: Every hole I drill it stalls just before it cuts through at the bottom, then gives a couple beeps. I have to reverse and try again. Usually have to repeat this about 3 times per hole. Its VERY irritating. Have you ever noticed this? All the videos on youtube show guys just drilling hole after hole with zero issues.

    • @DWSOutdoors

    • @DWSOutdoors
      @DWSOutdoors  3 роки тому +1

      @@kdsberman Only time it ever did that to me was when I pushed down hard thinking I needed to and from then on I just gently apply enough pressure to let it cut through! I am still on my original blades and have cut 1000s of holes without a problem.

    What ended up happening with talking to the company about the damage, did you ever contact them? Most of those auger mount companies, unfortunately, would say they are not responsible for any damage caused by their product. Companies like Strikemaster would also say they are not responsible for any damage caused by any aftermarket product. Now, if you get a really good company maybe they'll stand by their product, but those are rare!

    • @DWSOutdoors

      No one was going to do anything about it ...

  • @FjHenderson
    @FjHenderson 5 років тому

    Mine did that and I tightened the nut up on the shaft. It hasn't done that since. I was surprised that it loosened up myself. But tightened it up really tight and so far it hasn't come loose. I'm sure that it will probably loosen up again. There's a lot of torque going down the shaft.
    And that handle, you can use super glue and baking soda. Just build it up with the glue and baking soda, then sand or file it back to close to where it was then use a black paint pen to color it back.
