Jokers & Pegs is a fabulous game, which we often play at the 6- or 8-player level. That means two teams of three or two teams of four. There are derivations around. For example, I have seen people say it's three cards per player; others say five. I have seen people say that you have to play your own five pegs and get them into your Castle before you can 'help' a teammate. And then, only the teammate to your left. But we play in a way that any player can help a teammate from the start of the game. So, I guess the point is that there are 'variations' and one shouldn't be 'scolded' for adopting any of these variances. In the end, it is a game that practically without fail goes right down to the very last play and is great fun because of that. Also, in an evening you can get three games in, meaning you'll have great competition from beginning to end.
I ordened the plans and i am just finished this beautiful game. Not only the making was a Nice experience and fun, but also the frist game we did today was great fun! Thank you Tommy for your clear plans and explanations ! Greetings from us in Holland
Thank you for purchasing my plans! I'm happy to see that you had fun making it!
Started playing this game but so far has only been two player. Even though this game is designed for teams, two players as possible but I’m wondering if the game plays better with more people. We cut the deck down to only one as they were only two of us and it seemed way too easy. With all of the face cards and aces, nearly 1/ third of the deck was made up of those making it almost impossible to not always get a man out. Also add in all of the eights and nines, and it seemed like it was pretty rare where a player was even forced to go around the board without using one of those to back up Behind their home spot. Even with six or eight players, using that many decks of cards seems like he would run into the same situation? We modified and only allowed three cards in our hand because games were taking less than five minutes with five cards and all of those eights and nines backing us right up to where our home spot was. Definitely like the game, sorry but the reason that game is so good is because the really good cards are not that abundant. Using this many decks of cards puts way too much of the good stuff in there I think and takes away from the game a bit.
We don't use the 9 card, and with 6 players, with the start of 5 cards, is an over an hour game. So you must be WAY nicer than we are cause we "attack" each other all the time.
My family loves gaming! I am going to have to make this and add it to our collection!
I am a little confused about the multiple decks of cards. Do you deal from each deck? I noticed in your video players had different colors of cards. Does it matter which deck you draw from?
We usually separate the decks into two piles just so we don't have one deck a mile high. Each player can draw from any deck they want which also helps the shuffling.
Great video on peg play but no idea how to deal and play through cards, kinda left that out....
This video was a basic overview. All of the details are in my free How to Play Pegs and Jokers download from liftbridgefurniture.com
Where did you get your game?
Do you sell the game boards like the one the group is playing with in the video?
Hi Kelly - I do but I don't currently have any in stock. We also sell the plans so that you can make your own: liftbridgefurniture.com/product-category/board-games/
Thanks for this! Killed two birds with one stone for me! I'm trying to do all gifts hand/shop made this year, and was having a hard time figuring what to make one family-- they're board game crazy, so this is Perfect!
Glad to hear I could help! It really is a great Christmas gift for a family that likes to play games.
The backwards cards seem to break the game. Why would I ever go all the way around when I can just get out of home, use an 8 or 9, rinse and repeat. Remove nearly all risk short of joker. First time we played most used this strat and they won hands down. Missing something?
How did you do the pegs? did you do a video on that?
I don't have a video on that but I have full instructions in my plans here: liftbridgefurniture.com/product/pegs-and-jokers-plans/
My great great great great grandpa made the first pegs and jokers game
Do you all sell the game already built? Thanks.
Hi Joseph - yes, we do occasionally but we don't currently have any in stock. When we have them in stock you can find them here: liftbridgefurniture.com/product-category/board-games/
Looks very nice! Did you stain the plywood, or is the top layer made of darker wood?
We Played the game with serious CutThroat couple. We survived but it was odd.
Seems a funny Game 🙂
Good game
Looks a lot like the game Sorry put out by Parker

The guy who thumbs down this video did not adhere to the non table talk rule and ruined his relationship with the people with whom he was playing. This looks fun. I’ll have to make board.
