Ronaldo is 1 year older than I am, he’s been playing football his entire life, football is pretty much all he knows… so I can completely understand him not wanting to hang up his boots while he can still play to a decent level. He’s got more than enough money that he would never have to work again, his net worth is £640m ($800m), but I think that because he doesn’t really seem to have anything else outside of football (except his family of course) and he’s so tuned in and geared towards football and the routine that if he stops, what does he do?
I was in the RAF for years, my whom life was the RAF and my job, I left just before Covid after 15 years and it took me years to kind of adjust to that not being who I am anymore. So for someone like Ronaldo I can only imagine it being significantly harder if he stops.
I can’t imagine him being the kind of guy who goes into coaching, I don’t see him being a regular pundit and he’s not done what Andrea Pirlo did and had a vineyard that he lives on and enjoys in his retirement… so my guess is he prolongs his career as much as he can because he doesn’t know what he wants to do when he hangs up those boots

Although I've always been a Barca fan, I did grow up watching Ronaldo at Man United thanks to my dad, and later on at Real Madrid. despite not always being on his side, I do appreciate greatness (which I wish a lot of his fans would do towards Messi cuz there is literally no shame in that) right now, where Ronaldo has gotten to is simply an unprecedented level of "cringe". And honestly, it's sad to see. It's genuinely sad to see. He acts like he's still got something to prove, which he doesn't. There's no shame in being 2nd best, especially when the best is a guy called Messi. (yes, I believe that all this in one way or another has something to do with Lionel Messi, why else would he clown on the French League of all places). I'd actually love to see a fairytale story, if he went back to C.D. Nacional (the club he was at before he finished his youth career with Sporting), and tried to get them into European competitions, he'd be their best player, he's still good enough to do a job in the Portugese league (assuming they don't relegate by seasons end, if they do then this 1 million % won't happen rather than just 999,999% won't xD). he'd get to go home home, like not just to Portugal, but to the island of Maderia where he was born and grew up, and maybe just help a small Portugese club up
but tbh, if he does go to Portugal I'd expect him to goto Sporting to compete for the title, but the fairy tale is fun to imagine

He can also do something that Ronaldo just won’t do which is reinvent his game to accommodate his oldness, and still score goals at the same clip by learning new tricks. When speed kills you in football, u pretty much gotta move back or you’re just gonna get worse, it’s impossible to reinvent as a striker when that goes.

At this stage I wouldn’t even want to see him play out his career at Sporting, even though I have been a Sporting fan all my life and still remember him being a very promising young talent for us. We (the Sporting fanbase) do love Cristiano, have a special connection with him and it would be a dream if he could end his career by effectively helping us win trophies, then celebrate with us at Marquês. But the reality of it is that the Cristiano who could do that likely no longer exists, specially considering that in order to come he would still have to be the star, above those guys that have helped the team for years and, even if he would play for peanuts compared to his last contracts, he would still have to be by far the highest earner on the squad. This would be a sure way to create locker room and on-field issues, damaging the image and the relationship with our icon.
So, Cristiano, we would love to see you as a club embassator when you hang up your boots.

3:30 When talking about Ronaldo's return to United. 1st season he got Ole the sack and Ragnick tried so many formations like 4222 to get Ronaldo to work. CR7 was still scoring yes, but only because the entire team suddenly became "pass to Ronaldo". Sancho was argueably the best player on that side since he reliably fed Ronaldo, albiet a LOT of those chances went nowhere.
Then of course ETH comes in with a point to prove. Ronaldo wants to be petulant? Alright lad heres the armband and a spot in the starting 11. Oh, and everyone will be forced to make chances for you. Issue is these Romanian farmers got hands and Ronaldo couldnt score any of the million chances he was gifted. From that moment on I knew the football left CR7 already when some europa league farmers from Tiraspol could hold Ronaldo honest and stop him from scoring... This isnt to flame Ronaldo, just some perspective from a united fan who grew up watching him, then had to endure his return to the club.

Genuinely, MLS sounds like a great spot.
And that Messis there is just a very outside reason why i think that.
The US has exactly what he searches for
    1. Its a decent league, but not a world class one
    2. it has alot of money
    3. it has shown that stars like him also bring alot of attention.
He scores goals, earns good money, gets appreciated by many (certainly more than now).
Thats a fit if ya ask me.

The only sporting reason I can see for him to keep going is the 2026 World Cup. I imagine Messi winning that World Cup really made him want to win it with Portugal even more and 2026 is his last chance to realistically do it. Maybe that's why he wants to go back to a Club that plays in the CL or whatever, because you can tell me what you want, but the Saudi League doesn't represent the hightest level of competition by any means.

Ronaldo is one of the greatest ever but he seems to think that because he was one of the best before that then naturally he can stay afloat with age when in reality age affects everyone diffrently especially at these ages. His compatriot Pepe was an actuall guy who could play until late age and did so as a starter at the highst level and Ronaldo also forgets that he has been out of Europe for some time now he has "forgotten" the level that Europe is at hense why in the Euros he seemed so out of place like he couldnt hold up despite having his entire team try to give him chance after chance . Those " try it in 38-39-40 degree weather " comments are also total bs brother you are from Portugal and played for YEARS in Spain-Italy-Portugal you are used to this like its second nature you are not from the Siberian snow mountains , being Greek myself and all the countries i mentioned share the same Climate aka Hot and Humid 38-40 C is still fine to play a game of football normally at full intensity in fact in Saudi Arabia the atmosphere is way way dryer that here in the Mediterranean which in fact makes it easier to do physical activities cause your nose and lungs dont have to adjust and compensate for the humidity in the air , the only thing to worry about is dizzyness and nausia from the sun and heat which again isnt a problem when you play mostly at night in a stadium creating a vaccum climate inside fully hydrated and on legal nutrients and thats something he should be used to he wouldnt have a problem with it.

Ronaldo to Sheffield United. Hear me out.
Brand new owners, American owners, want to make a big splash and generate buzz and intrigue.
Ronaldo is told "Look, your image took a hit in Saudi. Everyone thinks you only went there for the money and underperformed. Time to rehabilitate how people see you."
Ronaldo comes back to England with a message of "I love English football, I love the Premier League, I wanted to come back. I'm humble enough to know that the Premier League title fight is not where I am right now but I want to be in the league and I want the challenge of taking a club like this to Europe."
He also benefits from the narrative of "Well he's actually taken a good but not insane wage. Guess it's not all about the money for him. He's doing it for the love of the game."
A move like that would benefit all parties and would fix a lot of the damage that has been done and would be a very new, very fresh and interesting chapter to his story. If you hear tomorrow that he's just gonna go to another big team you're like "Oh. Ok. Whatever." But a move like that would have the whole world watching to see how he does fighting it out with a newly promoted team.
It absolutely will not happen. 0% chance. But if I was him and still wanted to play, that's exactly what I would do. A move like that.

Sure he ain't 21 years old Ronaldo but he still is in physical top shape, he ain't god damn fatty wayne rooney mate.
Call me crazy but I think PSG would be a good club for him to play another year with a 1-year club extension option, he would still score a lot of goals. Having Ronaldo in the team just lifts up the younger players, it can do magic to the dressing room atmosphere with him as a team leader. If he wins the Champions League with PSG and scores the winner in the final f*ck that Messi world cup, Ronaldo is the GOAT.
Napoli would also be a great team, otherwise I would like to see him at LA Galaxy teaming up with Reus and showing Messi who is the boss, if Miami is able to make it to the play offs.

@@jaqenp2607 You're always going to be connected to it if it's true yes, but why would you be forever associated with being a rapist if it's not true and you can prove it? That's a very simplistic view of how those proceedings take place, and how damaging a court case is to the accuser - having your entire sexual history dragged up in a fully public case is not a pleasant experience, hence the vast majority (something like 97%) of those cases never make it to trial. It's not worth the additional trauma for the victim. If someone is willing to take a case all the way to court it's likely they have an extremely strong case - perhaps take a look at the redacted files online about the information CR revealed to his representative, it's pretty damning. There's a reason those kinds of settlements are known as hush money - he wanted her to never speak about it in public again and he is in a very privileged position of being able to afford to make sure that is the case. When cases are obviously not prosecutable or genuine (e.g. Johnny Evans) they are quickly dismissed and forgotten about, so much so that I'd be surprised if you even knew about that.Your comment seems to be based on an assumption that most accusations are not genuine, but most celebrities are not accused of rape, much less taken to court over it, so perhaps on the rare occasion that they are, some credibility should be afforded to the accuser and not automatically the other way round.
