Thank you!! I literally didn't understand stem-changing verbs before this video.
sorry if you said this but, do verbs stem change in past tense?
Good question! The answer is NO: stem changers generally don't change in the preterite; with two exceptions: -IR verbs that had an e>i or o>ue stem change will get an e>i or o>u stem change for the 3rd person singular and plural.
Normal example: contar (to tell/recount, o>ue stem change in present) - no stem change in preterite. "Ahora la dama cUEnta su historia. Ayer también, la dama cOntó su historia." (Now the lady tells her story. Yesterday as well, the lady told her story. )
Exception example: dormir (to sleep, o>ue stem change in present) - o>u stem change in preterite 3rd person. "Ahora dUErmo mucho. Ayer dOrmí hasta tarde pero mi hermana dUrmió poco." (Now I sleep a lot. Yesterday I slept late but my sister slept very little).
Hope that helps!
Lingo Learner thanks! Helped a lot.

I'm Japanese self-taught learner of Spanish, and this video is so simple and understandable.
It's very useful era today.
TY for sharing this video.
This is so helpful. I am in Spanish III Honors and this may help me pass my first Test
I don't understand nopales. Whenever I put them in my mouth they have this weird spicy flavor. It's like pins and needs, and then they also always come with this weird runny red sauce that tastes like meat with a metallic aftertaste which only comes after the first bite. And don't tell me how course they are to go down, even if you chew them (Which makes them even spicier) you still get awful stomach pain. Honestly, my advice is not to eat nopales. No matter how good they taste.

Hey thanks for this video it helps me a lot, but I have a question how do you know if it is a (o-ue,i-e,e-i etc) verb?
There's this app i used, it's called spanish verbs, it's on Google play and it has the icon of a book with the flag of spain as the cover.
Otherwise just memorization
this video is so helpful and simple!
Nice video :) Cuanto tiempo llevas estudiando español?
Why did you use " sirven nopales " and not " servis nopales" ? thanks
Hola! While we include Vosotros conjugations in charts, we default to Latin American Spanish for conversational content. That's why we used "Ustedes" forms instead of "Vosotros" forms in these examples.
la knight yeah
This was very clear. Muchas gracias!

I translated : ladies and gentlemen you sleep (vosotros form) and it changed the stem , it said : duermen
Remember from the subject pronouns video that many countries don't use Vosotros, but instead use Ustedes to mean you plural. "Duermen" is the Ustedes form :-) Especially since 'ladies and gentlemen' sounds formal, you will use Ustedes even in Spain.

So good! Muy bien :) 😁

Who is here because there Spanish teacher told them to watch this video
Very cool thank you 🙈👨🏻🎤😋
How to come to know the word is stem charger? Like (e - i)🤔
Knowing if the "e" in a stem switches to "i" or "ie," or even switches at all, is a detail that must be memorized when you learn the infinitive. For example, it's not enough to learn that "Servir = to serve." Your thought process when learning that verb should be "Servir (e to i stem changer) = to serve." Give 0:46 a rewatch!
This really helped thanks!
Than you!
when do we use "E" to "I"? im confuse with e to ie and e to i.
