Initially, we'll highlight the ineffective aspects of Claudia's forehand technique. It's evident that she struggles with timing, often making contact late, resulting in a lack of control over the ball's placement.
For our first drill, we'll emphasize the significance of the "contact zone" and aim to direct shots down the tramline. This approach promotes a smoother swing motion and enhances overall fluidity of the shot.
Moving forward, we'll divide the forehand shot into two distinct phases by incorporating the follow through. Claudia will complete her swing only after the ball has landed on the opposite side of the court. This emphasizes the importance of extending through the ball before completing the wrap around motion with the racket to complete the stroke.
Next, we'll look to add these elements into a single fluid motion. The focus remains on ensuring that Claudia maintains all four checkpoints of the forehand technique, with particular emphasis on reaching the end of the extension as demonstrated in checkpoint 3.
Introducing the loop into Claudia's forehand technique not only enhances its professional appearance but also contributes significantly to rhythm and the generation of topspin. Our focus now shifts to refining her loop, making it slightly smaller for improved efficiency. This adjustment is crucial to prevent Claudia from developing any detrimental habits as she progresses in her tennis skills.
Lastly, it's imperative to address the role of Claudia's non dominant hand. Incorporating this aspect into her technique addresses several initial mistakes observed during the lesson. Engaging the non-dominant hand automatically activates the hips and shoulders more effectively, essential for both power and control in her shots. Moreover, it helps create distance at contact, rectifying a significant error observed earlier.
