Really solid advice! Recruiters use LinkedIn like a search engine so having keywords in these three locations is key to being found!

Absolutely, recruiters are defaulting to LinkedIn these days as a way to find talent.

It's it so TRUE that your advices are the best!
Just wondering how a person can do one's best arrangement of the Linkedin profile if he/she worked under different job title which are irrelevant to eachother?
For example from Marketing manager to Accountant?
    Thank you!

The biggest problem I had when I was trying to get a long distance. You do not have contacts in the area. The first time I was just out of college and I found getting an interview was really difficult. Even when I did get an interview they were very reluctant to do anything by phone everything was in person. The second time I tried to get a job long distance I was at the top of my industry #2 out of 455 sales reps and was told that I did not have the contacts in the area. I tried to overcome that by showing my extensive knowledge and sales accumen, but it was not enough. I can not tell you how defeating it is to fly across the country on my dime and then be told there are 5 more steps to the interview process and 3 of which are face to face interviews.

I definitely believe that having a custom background image on LinkedIn is key for STANDING OUT 😊But just a quick tip here - when designing your cover photos, keep in mind that the placement of your profile picture changes on mobile & desktop, so you’ll want to make sure that none of the important information on your LinkedIn banner (such as call-to-actions, contact details) get hidden by your profile picture 😉

Thank you! I just did a webinar on this, and I should do a full video on it. A few quick tips: make your headline, "about" section and skills to reference your new career. Keep your about (used to be called summary) section future focused about your passion for your (new) direction and what you are looking to achieve. Emphasize projects and skills you've built towards your new career. There's lots of other tips, I'll create a video!
