I love this idea. I have a small amount of bamboo that I culled from a friends backyard and if it survives the winter I am going to try this. Are you concerned that rhizomes might escape the pot and still pop up somewhere?
I love bamboo, the noise when it moves in the wind is lovely. I've got one in a big pot, but I want to split it now as it's getting too big for it, and I can't get it out of the pot. It won't budge!
What’s the name of the bamboo? I thought that non-invasive clumping bamboo wouldn’t grow in areas you don’t want or am I wrong? I’m about to plant non invasive bamboo at the side of my neighbours drive way for screening but now thinking to bury the pots like you did 🤔 PS love the tips in your videos
Hi mia. You are quite correct. I can't remember the exact name if this bamboo. But it is invasive i understand. Even so, the barrier won't harm it. Thank you. Mark
Regarding the pots stopping the rhizomes spreading. What does it look like now? What maintenance has been done over the time that has passed? Are they still contained?
I've taken a couple long bamboo shoots with a about 6 inch of root intact will it grow? I've potted and gave it nourished it with blood bone and watered everyday but leaves seem to curled and are drying out any pointers cheers
Hi there. I would say don't panic. This happened to me. I lost all my leaves on one plant. Then after 8 weeks they came back. Be patient. Don't panic. Do normal care routine. Don't overwater. Keep light, warm, don't overfeed until the leaves really start. It is probably getting reestablished under the soil surface. Mark
Hi Micheal, what a coincidence, i have just done the bamboo barrier and I'm editing the video... Comparisons. I'm hoping the green will form and inexpensive and interesting hedge. But in all honesty, the green feels a little ordinary. The golden much more aesthetically pleasing. Just my opinion. I once had a quite large clump of black. Now that was very special. Mark
How would you do that with the barrier? There are never any guarantees. I'm just saying this approach will be equally as good as the bamboo barrier which i have also used.
Thanks Angie, well our neighbour has a firepit and theirs seems safe enough. I'm giving it some thought. I'm excited about the little back courtyard too 😊
They're very beautiful..
Thank you 😊 Mark

Hi there. It's 2 years later now and it's not escaped yet 😊 good luck with your bamboo hope it survives the winter. Mark
Great idea! If you didn't use drainage holes, did you experience any root rot?
Hi. The bamboo was doing very well. However, I have since planted into the ground INSIDE a bamboo barrier and it is really thriving 😊
Very interesting especially about burying pots to contain invasive species
Thank you very much 😊
Great share 👍 👌
Thanks. I just watched your bamboo video. Very informative. Thanks

Can you break the pot? If you can break the pot you might split the root with a spade or saw?
@@MarksHouseandGardenUK no it's a tall plastic one

Hi there. I added to my bamboo collection and bought some bamboo barrier which I covered in another video. I'll find the link

👍
Maybe I missed that.
What genus of bamboo is that?
Looks like a phyllostachys aurea a bit...
I didn't say the genus let me find out and come back to you. I suspect you are correct already. Mark
How would you compare golden to green bamboo, what one would you reccomend?

How can you monitor / control escape through drain holes?

Hi whats the name of these bamboo please
I just read that can only stay in pots for about 2 years
Well that's a nice benefit of having them in tubs which can be lifted and divided 😊
Can’t wait to see this area complete! Firepit might be nice here…or is it too close to the house?
