I was born in 93. My mother bought us these Crash Games and along with my younger brother we all played together. It didn't take very long for us to get better than our mom, but even now she's played some of the remake with me and I'm so grateful for her taking so many L's. Just a note about Metroid Dread - it's a continuous story, so you might want to consider playing the previous 2D games first - the Prime games are cool too, but they're like an off-shoot story, so not necessary for playing the main series; I won't say you have to, but I know I'd certainly watch you play them (assuming you wanted to, at least)

I can 100% say the Prime games are not first, even Samus' logs in the game confirm as much when she calls on past experiences. I'm fairly certain Zero Mission is also set before Prime
The Prime series is set between 1 and 2, because after 2 the metroids are almost completely exterminated, making it hard to tell stories about the creatures the series is named for. (Later games ended up contriving a bunch of secret metroid cloning projects to keep them around.) Zero Mission is a remake of the first game.

It also uses universal jump physics that were also used for the Crash 2 and 3 remakes in the same trilogy. The jump mechanics were similar to the OG Crash 3. OG Crash 1 had different jump physics. So as you said, the jumps in the remaster are more precise and difficult.
The first 3 Crash games were specifically designed for the d-pad. The analog stick actually makes precise movement more difficult. Fun fact, Toys for Bob remembered that and designed Crash 4 with the same mentality.

It still has a lot of fundamental issues like inconsistent difficulty, repetitive design, terrible boss battles, clunky jumping (in the PS1 version) and some underwhelming gem challenges. It's still a Donkey Kong Country game with none of the qualities that made those games fun.

Crash 1 is really hard, the hardest before Crash 4 came into existence. If I played it again, I probably wouldn't die as much as when I was a kid but I'd still struggle in some parts of the game :P

I was born in 96, but my earliest memories, and what got me into video games, was watching my mom play Crash 1 to 100%, I even still have the envelope that she wrote the codes from the bonus levels on.
You know you can just stand on papu papu chair and wait for him to slam his staff and then jump on his head. Also you can walk on the rope in the bridge level and then in the level where you’re having to jump on the bounce box just to get up higher there’s a thing in the background where you can jump on it and fall off and then walk to the left and skip almost everything. Remember all of these from playing the older crash 1 game.
Kangaroo tastes like Deer. So if you like that, you'll love Kangaroo. And I don't imagine Bandicoot would taste anything like that since Bandicoots are borderline mice. Haha
I just managed to get the platinum trophy in all 3 trilogy games in about 8 hours each. The 1st one was definitely the hardest. Now I'm attempting Crash 4, though that will take some time. Cheers.

i personally grew up with. sonic and had no idea crash existed in my childhood, but I have a cousin who played crash 1 beginning to end 100% every single day. he said that he would wake up, wait for his mom to leave for work, and then beat the game and I think 100% but I'm not sure. reminds me of the exact same story I had with sonic generations, but I didn't 100%.

I loved Crash 3 the most for sure. For the first 3 my order goes backwards, basically. I loved the huge variety that Warped brought to the table and how great it felt to play most of the stages. The only ones I didn't enjoy were the flying ones. The ground vehicles and water stuff were both fun. I also enjoyed the bosses and extra power ups from there the most.

Soooo that box bridge on the very first level of Crash 1. You can actually do it really easily if you use the aku aku mask invincibility to activate the switch and then just run across as it breaks them after you step passed them. Even when I was a kid, Crash Bandicoot 1 looked kinda boring and obsolete when comparing it to Crash 2 and 3, Crash 1 is easily the worst in the trilogy. However, Crash 1 is the hardest of the trilogy.
Easy to play through with checkpoints and no time trial. u develop the muscle memory pretty fast. Hard to do for relics and gems. Like he said Crash 4 is harder since it was made for todays level design

Crash trilogy took me 8h each for a platinum, CTR took me around 20-25 hours, and Crash 4 took me 70 hours.

You can actually do it really easily if you use the aku aku mask invincibility to activate the switch and then just run across as it breaks them after you step passed them. I didnt learn this until about 2 years ago. Ive been playing this game since it came out and never knew

Even when I was a kid, Crash Bandicoot 1 looked kinda boring and obsolete when comparing it to Crash 2 and 3, Crash 1 is easily the worst in the trilogy.
However, Crash 1 is the hardest of the trilogy.
Well being the hardest could be part of the reason why it's the worst of the trilogy.

I just got the platinum trophy for this game, it was VERY hard, to the point of unfair when it came to the relics.
Easy to play through with checkpoints and no time trial. u develop the muscle memory pretty fast. Hard to do for relics and gems.
Like he said Crash 4 is harder since it was made for todays level design
