I was a huge fan of mazinger when I was a kid. Loved the old cartoons they'd air in syndication. I remember I went to Mexico when I was a kid and got this really cool, but cheap mazinger toy made out of like shampoo bottle plastic at some market. I guess mazinger was really popular in Mexico
Art hern it was indeed very popular in Mexico and most of Latin America. The main reason was that the whole series was dubbed in Spanish and ran complete and unedited, unlike other places like Spain, where they only ran 30 episodes, or the United States where it was so heavily edited, it was horrendous to watch.
I tried posting in the SOC thread before on TFW but that was during the whole, "this should be a separate thread" fiasco where every line was supposed to be a different thread. I just stopped posting about it then. He's pretty great for the price and the battle damage.

Bandai makes great products but their robots keep getting smaller and their prices keep getting bigger. I am very happy with my CM Corp Grendizer, Yamato Danguard Ace. Just ordered King Arts Grendizer and will be getting their Mazinger and Great Mazinger. Also pre-ordered King Arts Jeeg with horse. Other companies are quickly catching up and giving us more bang for the buck.
WOW! This company is giving Bandai a run for its money! I love the updated look of this toy but it also pays homage to the classic style. Part of me wishes this is what Mazinger Z looked like in the upcoming movie. Thanks for the review. WOW!

Fellow Collector love the review. I am a huge fan of Super Robots. I mostly collect Metal Builds, Metal Composite. For the price tag King Arts in my opinion did not do Mazinger Z justice. Metal Build although smaller in scale has a pre-order up for Mazinger Z that's the route I am hitting up.....of course through TOY DOJO long sold out! Another Super Robot manufacturer which kicks ass is Sentinel........to date my favorite Super Robot release is Sentinel's Dancouga. Have a nice weekend.
David Lenshyn Wow its really interesting you mention Sentinel Dancouga! 😃 I own that figure, actually the 1st copy i recieved, sent from Japan by HLJ, came with a broken right shoulder joint/broken upper shoulder transformation hinge / contraption. And because I studied the weak points on S.Dancouga's weak points I learned how weak the shoulders are anyway. Using that spot where all the pressure goes, they used 4 block parts glued together with a smaller joint then they actually needed. I was able to get a replacement from them, at a cost, &. that one has held up Just fine. However ALWAYS hold the shoulders by the joint, allowing no extra torque to be put on that joint from a spot where leverage isn't 100% solid. NOW, I am also waiting on my SOC re-release of their original Dancouga. I am told the Soul of Chogokin is the better version of the 2 molds of the character. I can't find any proper video reviews on it where I can see it well enough to mske a decision like that myself.
Good Saturday. Yes I read in early blogs on Dancouga to pull the shoulder out and to brace while moving the arms .....so far Dancouga has been a champ. I also believe Dancouga has more diecast content than most.....I do own the Sentinel Giant Gorg & Manon Type which are stunning / tremendous amounts of diecast and mixed media. Yes I also have SOC Dancouga on pre-order still something about it where it looks boxy that's why I loved what Sentinel pulled off. Speaking of Sentinel I just pre-ordered Shin Getter which looks like a re-tool of Mazinkaiser........which is in the collection as well. Mazinkaiser only has one flar really & its the elephant in the room the torso is two weak to hold up when the Skrander is on and the way it attaches is off but its awesome.....have you taken a look at their Genesis Climber Mospeada?
Great review, I would like to confirm if the biggest mazinger is DX SOC with all the skeleton detail? I cannot find the height comparison everywhere and I saw yours. 30 cm for this heavy figure is awesome. King arts is around 24cm.
i think, overall, it seems like a nice piece; like you said, not perfect. i like that you can remove the pieces and show the inner robot based on the schematics from the show's end credits. the one slight bugaboo for me is the added detail on the breast fire fins--it's nowhere else on the robot. what we also need is a conversion kit to make robot taekwon v haha
It's hilarious how many sites are listing this as "1/9th" scale, 9.5 inches tall. So Mazinger Z's actual height is 7 feet? Mazinger Z is supposed to be 60 feet tall, so at 1/9th scale, it would be just under 7 feet tall. Anyway, modern anime hasn't quite captured the charm & fun of Go Nagai's original super robots.
I do not think that all the money ar put in the demages parts, because the great Mazinger has the same price, but there's no broken armor. Great review, very nice piece. But there's no metal parts?
Great Mazinger has a bunch of new molding and other accessories like the Great Booster, more optional hands (8 total), swords, etc instead of battle damage. There are a few diecast parts but very little in the endoskeleton not on the armor pieces.
imo a "bunch" of accessories are not comparable with an entire armor in broken version. Anyway, are you sure that there's no alloy armor parts? Because on the kingarts web site is stated different in the description of the item : *Alloy armor and alloy joint made it good quality and bring people more reality.

My initial guess is that they will have a accessory set, depending how well this sells, that the articulated hands would be a big push for fans to be persuaded into a set. One other thing, even if it is unrelated, I wanted to add. I said 1/9 scale because the solicitations all mention this as the scale of this figure. But in reality it's far far off! If this was a human sized character, then yes. But anyway .....
Not DX Maz! He has articulated! To be fair they're not the greatest but still good. They could have thrown in a couple more hands though. The choice of just closed or just weirdly open is too limited.
I got one like this, and my hovercraft is very bad finished. The wings are not painted. I contacted King Arts, but nobody gave me a solution, so think twice before buying it.
I just got the soc Dx. I needed to for this figure because he is basicly the godfather and that dig blows this one away. I got Gaiking and grendizer for the king arts ver. Way better than maz z and great maz. I don't like the design of thier bodyiiks weird to me.

What, you didn't know that Kabuto Koji is only 6 inches tall? He needs the super robot to fight normal human-sized mechanical beasts.

T&J Collector that’s your opinion if you don’t think it’s comparable. None of the armor pieces are metal.
T&J Collector also most of the joints are plastic ball joints except the knees and parts of the ankle.
