Love Song - Syd Barrett -Official Lyric Video

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- Created by Swedish animator The Artist On The Border the film is inspired by the love letters Syd wrote to his girlfriends Libby Gausden Chisman and Jenny Spires in the heady, magical late Sixties when Pink Floyd were setting out on the road to fame.
The Artist On The Border spoke about his film
'Love song" takes us head first into to young Syd Barrett's letters, prominently featured in Rocket 88s book "Barrett - the definitive visual companion".
Though "Love song" most likely was written in the early 1970s, the lyrics work as a handwritten poem, a letter to someone special. Syd would often illustrate his letters with small cartoons or seemingly random images. In this animated creation I want you to dive into the whimsical, magical experience of just having received a handwritten Love letter from him. Signed "Love, Syd!"
We have shown the film to both Libby and Jenny, and they are both thrilled with it.
Libby Gausden Chisman said ''I think it's absolutely lovely xx''
Jenny Spires said "Seeing these adorable little stick men and the band drawings Syd sent me come to life in this way is extraordinary. Syd would have been completely fascinated by it .... just lovely to see... thank you."

Non sei l‘unico..

Thanks Roger and Syd to being friends someday. Thanks PINK FLOYD. SHINE ON 💎🎉
Rick did such a good job on this tune. One of my fav Syd songs. Love the handwritten lyrics. Well done. I am gonna watch it again.
Great job to the folks that made this. I have loved Syd's work since I was a child and watching this little renaissance of his life and art has been inspiring. The community around his music is so passionate and full of love.
Definitely one of my favourite of Syd's compositions. It's amazing that this came out of the well documented chaos that was his mind at this time. So simple and so pure, and great work from Rick and everyone else who helped him realise this beautiful song.
I say simple and pure, but it does sound like he's referencing an acid trip he took with a close female friend in the lyrics. Despite my inferred meaning about drug use, I still think the song has a sweet innocence.
Excellent on all counts.
👍👍👍
Great to have this finally on proper video, and in proper audio quality.
Glad you enjoyed it

We can only wonder what could have been........
Me encantaaaaaaaaaaaaa esta canción mmik favorita de barrett
The beginning sounds like Roger snatched it for SOYCD. Anyone else hear it?
One of the most beautiful songs ever written. This brought such a genuine smile to face. I hope people never stop listening to Syd's music.
I love how you used Syd's sketches in the animations. So sweet and beautiful... like the lovely Syd.😊
I turned 53 earlier this year and can say this is the only Syd Barrett solo song I ever heard on radio when I was 18 on Long Island. It was about a week after Barrett came out on CD for the first time. Hearing/seeing this video brought me back to the 80's. Music, especially Syd's is magical.
Absolutely beautiful! Great work, really opens up another dimension to the song.
Thanks for listening
THE CAT DOODLE WILL FOREVER BE MY FAVORITE
Mine too!
I have never heard this song before & what a pleasant surprise it is! This song would work as theme
Song for a romantic comedy 🎭
Loved the animation with this beautiful song. Just fantastic.
This is purely Syd at his totally and 100% innocent and simplicity singer songwriter finest, no malice nor any sign of his soon to be schizophrenic devastating downfall the difference between the manic and down to earth child like care free young and hopelessly stricken by the psychological flip side effect that emerges after an episode of his devastating illness
I love the simplicity of Syd's recordings.Such a talent he had.
Grandissimo Syd❤genio
You have David Gilmour on Drums and Richard Wright on piano to complete the sound. 🎸🙏❤
That's right!
Syd was awesome. A tortured genius!
It's difficult to say but I think you'll find it's Jerry Shirley on the drums with David playing the bass. Richard Wright is credited with playing the harmonium on my vinyl copy but not piano!
So much aptitude for catchy songs! It teaches me there is two worlds for sure. I despise most of reality. It’s mostly complicated cruel unjust with only fleeting moments of bliss and amazement. Escape is my choice. Many different ways to do that without drugs. Him messing around with quualudes. I think that’s what really hurt his brain cells. Plus a bad batch of acid like Peter Greene and his roadie did. Brain
Syd had an open channel for a couple years there. The melodies and lyrics just came to him. I am so glad Gilmour and Waters and Wright decided to help him record his songs post Floyd, otherwise all these 50+ gems would never had seen the light of day. That would have been a shame. A brilliant songwriter.
Still great! Thank you.
I love Roger Barettt's work. A very great artist.
No wonder he influenced the band Paranoid Alice he was great

In Wrong Movements, Robert Wyatt related this anecdote about he, Hopper and Ratledge playing on The Madcap Laughs. They're on two songs, No Good Trying and Love You and a third which appears on the Opel compilation, Clowns & Jugglers.
