Don't get me wrong, I dislike Gabby with a passion, but it is never okay to spread rumors about someone having a mental disorder. Not only are you trying to say she has NPD, you're also spreading false information. NPD is not "literally untreatable" and a quick google search immediately disproves that. A common treatment plan involves psychotherapy among other things.

What you are trying to do is an armchair diagnosis, and that is what I am criticizing. The standard absolutely needs to change, and the public needs to be aware of the dangers that those with NPD possess, but that isn't what you nor I were arguing. In your original comment, you mentioned nothing about how the mental health system is flawed. Not once. You did, however, spread a rumor that she has NPD, and spread false information about how NPD is 'literally untreatable' which, again, is just false, from what I have seen (of course, please send me a link to a credible source that says otherwise). Is it curable? Obviously not, and that's not what I was arguing, but it can be managed through long term individual counseling. It won't work for everyone who has NPD, but it is a type of treatment that has the possibility of managing the disorder. Trying to treat someone with NPD isn't a lost cause, which is what was implied. Live Abuse Free points out narcissistic behaviors, which is fine because she doesn't try and anonymously diagnose people and has her credentials displayed. Richard Grannon doesn't try and diagnose people either. Calling someone narcissistic, like those youtubers do, is vastly different than saying that someone has NPD. If a youtuber IS trying to diagnose someone on the internet, then they are armchair diagnosing, which isn't reliable in the slightest. I just don't like the spread of possibly dangerous rumors, and instead, an actual analysis on possible narcissistic behaviors would be 100x more helpful. I find it pretty telling that you instantly resort to trying to insult me like that has any value to what we are talking about. There's no harm in warning people about narcissists, which is what I assume you are trying to do, and there's no problem analyzing someone's behavior and pointing out that it's harmful. It's just not okay to spread a rumor about whether or not someone has a serious mental disorder. She is a terrible person and obviously needs psychological help, but trying to accurately diagnose someone over the internet is, again, not possible. Human Being finally someone who remembers what she did to us. We weren't online for months because we couldn't escape the drama or go to sacred DID support areas without all of the ensuing drama being brought there including people faking being systems and witch hunts trying to see which systems were "pretending" it was horrible..and most of it was trolls.. it's still happening but everyone tried to ignore it now I guess. No, it's a combination of obsessing over haters AND obsessing over fans/friends who tell her what she wants to hear. She just craves any kind of attention. She doesn't know the right way to respond to situations because her motive isn't necessarily to do what's right, but instead what will bring the focus to her. If you watch her with her "friends" -- their conversations are only ever about her. When she pretends to ask them questions or address criticisms she gets, the friends always hype her up and tell her what she wants to hear. She surrounds herself with people who will only ever tell her "yes" and then cuts the others out and calls them toxic. She does the same with her fans. She has over a million followers on Twitter, so of course little like 12 year olds are going to be blown away that Gabbie replied to them, so they just type out what Gabbie wants to hear and suddenly she's talking to them.

She could never work a normal job, and I'm pretty sure she knows that. That's why she's so desperate to make UA-cam work even though she's publicly admitted that she's too fragile for it.

Then she made a video with Guy following that, where they both talk about the situation, and are completely fine. Well she does say sorry but then immediately contradicts her apology which makes it void. Then she lies about having contradicted it and then pretends to be the victim. Rinse and repeat. I've always said that if you're always fighting with everyone the problem isn't everyone, it's you. If every relationship your in is terrible and toxic, the least common denominator in all of them is you, so you need to do some self reflection to see if you are the problem. It's hard to explain, but simply put: one joke involves mocking and salvaging a joke from a common experience _for black people_ , done _by a black person_ who likely has an understanding of the nuances of the situation, and then the other is a white (passing) girl just saying "haha, black people aren't loyal to their partners and wanna smash me" (which then plays into stereotypes about a bunch of different things) . Is a stereotype also employed by the first joke? Yes, to _mock it_ , not to _reinforce it_ . This ignores any dynamics of "punching up" vs "punching down". These are literally just different jokes, though I can understand how someone could fail to realize this if they a) Don't know alot of black people b) Are not socially aware about black experiences / perspectives. I think Gabbie probably missed the punchline and thought the joke was that black people are thugs, or something...

i think gabbies biggest problem is that she realizes where she makes a mistake and thinks by saying “reach out to me if you wanna talk,” rather than just apologizing for what she’s done from the jump is trying to fix the situation. if you know you’ve made a mistake just own up to it, if they decide not to accept it then move on, but just saying “reach out if you wanna talk” isn’t it. just a cycle i’ve seen in apology videos of hers
She has reached out to people to offer apologies. I don't think it's fair to expect her to have to repeatedly hound people who don't want to talk to her so she can offer an apology that they don't want. I don't think it's fair that anyone should HAVE to accept having a conversation with someone who upset them so they can hear an apology that doesn't hold any value for them.
I honestly think Gabby isn't inherently a bad person. But she lacks any understanding of how to respond to scenarios where she is in the wrong. And all her irrational responses just keep making it worse. Then it makes her more frantic, which makes her more irrational and the cycle keeps going. I honestly feel bad for her.

Gabbie is very condescending, egotistical while clearly insecure, in all honesty, VERY unlikable. The more she doubles down on always being right and presents these long winded explanations for why she messed up, the absolute worse that she seems. She makes herself seem worse in every defense of herself. When in reality, had she owned up to what she said and did, to the people involved and publicly, she could've saved face and honestly gained some introspection. I'm not trying to say I'm some perfect human, never have been and never will be. But as a teenager into my early twenties I had an "always right" complex. I was very learned and intelligent (I don't know what happened to me) and I spent all of my high school and college years in debate classes. I could win ANY argument. It's not a fun place to be in, and it's the place I speculate she is in as someone who obviously doesn't know her. But I remember vividly how stressful and important it was to be right. And when I suddenly fully admitted, publicly (to no audience, lol, I've not got followers) that I was wrong and I apologized. I was like, wow, it feels so much better to admit I was wrong and apologize than it does to win an argument. I'm about to be forty and I still stand by the same ideology. Assume you're wrong, consider that you're wrong, and if you still believe you're right you will at least understand why others disagree. It's a much more peaceful existence. I feel sorry for Gabbie only because I know how stressful it is to exist the way that she does. I don't feel sorry for her dealing with the ramifications of the decisions she's made and things she's said and done. It's so obvious when she's excusing inexcusable behavior that she's verbalizing to everyone else how she's excused it to herself.
And when I say she’s unlikable, clearly she is. But she is a human being and I think her behavior is unlikable, but I personally believe everyone is redeemable and I’m not trying to discredit her as incapable of change. Also, me judging her is inherently self centered because it revolves around my opinion and perception of someone other than myself. It is just my opinion. I genuinely believe that Gabbie would be a much more friendly, happy, and peaceful person if she could admit when she was wrong and I say so from personal experiences.
Ashley Brown tldr: gabbie doesn’t own up to her own mistakes and when she does, it’s usually in a passive aggressive “but it’s not my fault” manner in which she deflects/ shifts blame. op feels bad for her because she’s a popular creator, so naturally all eyes will be on her and she will continue to receive waves of hate in scandals. the issue is when she consistently tries to portray a side of her that’s fun and positive but fails to own up to her wrong doings, thus being the opposite of the persona she puts up online. this is why people dislike her so much.
She also has a surprising lack of knowledge about how the internet works for someone who is famous from the internet. Almost all her responses to things can be classified under "how to make things worse"

context matters too. In some cases you CAN film someone without permission in others you cant. For example, state to state laws change on public domain and audio/visual recording. In Az for example you dont have to get permission as long as 1 party is aware. So if I know I am recording my conversation, its legal even if the other parties dont. From what I understand Indiana is very very different on PD laws.

I get so frustrated with cancel culture sometimes because they try to cancel people who said or did something 5 or 10 years ago but have since shown that they've really changed and aren't doing that thing anymore and took responsibility for it. Alex I’m sure her therapist tells her how to fix herself, but knowing Gabbie, she focuses in on any little nugget the therapist gave her to prove someone wronged her. I imagine a therapist saying ‘yes, friend could’ve addressed issue nicer, but you’re too fixated on proving your innocence to everyone else rather than reflecting on the issue they were talking about’ and gabbie would see the little bit about the friend being a little harsh and twist that to mean that the therapist totally agrees and that her friend is entirely too aggressive and should be ashamed of being mean to her. "Well my therapist thinks that I'm really smart and everyone should listen to me." She's been diagnosed with 10 different mental illnesses. She frequently has manic induced paranoia. So I'm sure that her therapist at one point told her she was smart and said she had a good point at one time but literally no one should listen to her especially during her episodes which is when she pulls that out. So about the brushes thing. There is this thing it’s called dropshipping. I actually think it’s worth a quick UA-cam search. It’s basically a company selling factory items that they get for 50 cents. Like the metal straws they don’t actually save the turtles. They are 25 cent straws that the company pays as well as free or 1.00 shipping. That they then sell to you for 5.00 that they say is just to cover the shipping costs. But really they make 4.00 to 4.50 on every purchase. For every 100 things sold it’s 400$ profit. The point of a sale is the price of your high quality products lowering yet still selling the same product. Exactly. As a person with depression and anxiety, it’s just kind of insulting. My view on it is this: when you have a mental illness, you have a reason for your actions, but never an excuse. It is hard for some people not to be a "bad" person in the limelight, where people are constantly poking a prodding at them and obsessing over every word you say. The whole thing where Gabbie told Jason that Trish might have herpes really bothered me. I have herpes and while it is incurable, it's completely harmless. The worst part of having it is the stigma around it and the reactions people have when you tell them you have herpes. Now, while it is my responsibility to any sexual partners what I have, it is NOT anyone's place to share that information. That is only going to make my partner distrust me and come back with more anger then may have if I'm the one who tells them. When I imagine if someone told my boyfriend that I have hepatitis instead of herpes, it's horrifying. And if anyone reading this is newly diagnosed with herpes, you're not alone and you are going to be okay. About 6 months after I was diagnosed, I met my boyfriend who had the best reaction when I told him what I have before we engaged in any intimacy. This isn't the end of the world, I promise.

I think the reason Gabbie gets so much criticism as compared to other influencers who make worse decisions is that she refuses to take accountability for anything she does and lets her army of stans defend her “however they see fit”. Most influencers at least give an “I’m sorry I’ll try to do better” or “I’ve changed” like they at least give you something to work with, whether or not the apologies are real is a whole different story. But Gabbie never says sorry and just passes the blame every time and she refuses to accept that’s the reason people are done paying attention to her. With the RG situation it was “he hit me and smashed me phone” but fails to mention what she was doing before he smashed her phone (doesn’t make what he did any better but shows they both had faults in that situation). Kenza cosmetics scandal it was “manage your expectations” and “it’s just marketing don’t you dare say I participated in a scam” failing to mention how a company advertising brushes at a high price and quality and then the brushes being dog shit is an illegal marketing tactic and makes the whole brush situation a scam In the Trisha situation it was “I was just trying to look out for a friend and she’s the one who brought it into the internet” failing to mention that the reason Trisha made her video was because gabbie was the one who brought it to Instagram by posting a screenshot and not blurring out trisha’s name and also failing to mention that Jason was never actually Gabbie’s friend and David was also in the room. With the Jessi situation it was “I’m not going to sit here exposing screenshots like she did” but proceeds to show a year and a half worth of text messages that do nothing except show they were on good terms when the entire reason Jessi made her video was to tell Gabbie to get out of underage fans DM’s lying and bitching about Jessi. Jessi didn’t make the video to accuse gabbie of doing a collab with Curtis, she said the complete opposite in the video and that she doesn’t know where the rumour started. Once the proof that gabbie supported/defended/hung out with Curtis came to light Gabbie ditched twitter. With UA-cam it was “UA-cam and I have a toxic relationship and they refuse to put my videos on trending and they’re suppressing my content and I’m shadow banned and I have proof” but she failed to mention how almost all her music videos over the last year actually did make it onto the trending page, they just didn’t do well because her music is so niche. Her channel wasn’t shadow banned because you could still search it up and find all her videos when shadow banned means you can’t find the content at all. Her content is only being “suppressed” because people are interested in drama about gabbie, not gabbie herself anymore. She’s been losing subs and views for years now and she’s not taking it with grace at all. She said she had proof of this supposed “shadow ban” and purposeful content suppression but we’re still waiting to see anything.
karlazeen it’s baffling to see these “influencers” have meltdowns about the state of their careers when their own words and actions directly resulted in their careers being ruined. I think the worst part about the whole thing is the fact that the fame she got went to her head and made her so entitled and unwilling to act accountability for her actions. I couldn't read the rest of the comment, but the beginning I absolutely don't agree with. People did not distance themselves from Gabbie because she became famous. They distanced themselves because they realized she was a terrible person. Plenty of influencers get famous and keep their friend circle. No, it's a combination of obsessing over haters AND obsessing over fans/friends who tell her what she wants to hear. She just craves any kind of attention. She doesn't know the right way to respond to situations because her motive isn't necessarily to do what's right, but instead what will bring the focus to her. If you watch her with her "friends" -- their conversations are only ever about her. When she pretends to ask them questions or address criticisms she gets, the friends always hype her up and tell her what she wants to hear. She surrounds herself with people who will only ever tell her "yes" and then cuts the others out and calls them toxic. She does the same with her fans. She has over a million followers on Twitter, so of course little like 12 year olds are going to be blown away that Gabbie replied to them, so they just type out what Gabbie wants to hear and suddenly she's talking to them.

One thing I have not seen mentioned by anyone when talking about Gabbie Hanna is the drama she created with Guy Tang. She trashed a dye job he gave her, which could have cost him customers, when it was what she asked for! She was literally being dramatic for no reason. I really felt bad for Guy.

Gabbie is very condescending, egotistical while clearly insecure, in all honesty, VERY unlikable. The more she doubles down on always being right and presents these long winded explanations for why she messed up, the absolute worse that she seems. She makes herself seem worse in every defense of herself. When in reality, had she owned up to what she said and did, to the people involved and publicly, she could've saved face and honestly gained some introspection.
I'm not trying to say I'm some perfect human, never have been and never will be. But as a teenager into my early twenties I had an "always right" complex. I was very learned and intelligent (I don't know what happened to me) and I spent all of my high school and college years in debate classes. I could win ANY argument. It's not a fun place to be in, and it's the place I speculate she is in as someone who obviously doesn't know her. But I remember vividly how stressful and important it was to be right. And when I suddenly fully admitted, publicly (to no audience, lol, I've not got followers) that I was wrong and I apologized. I was like, wow, it feels so much better to admit I was wrong and apologize than it does to win an argument. I'm about to be forty and I still stand by the same ideology. Assume you're wrong, consider that you're wrong, and if you still believe you're right you will at least understand why others disagree. It's a much more peaceful existence.
I feel sorry for Gabbie only because I know how stressful it is to exist the way that she does. I don't feel sorry for her dealing with the ramifications of the decisions she's made and things she's said and done. It's so obvious when she's excusing inexcusable behavior that she's verbalizing to everyone else how she's excused it to herself.
And when I say she’s unlikable, clearly she is. But she is a human being and I think her behavior is unlikable, but I personally believe everyone is redeemable and I’m not trying to discredit her as incapable of change.

That doesn't mean that what they said should be taken as fact since it's clear Gabbie leaves a lot of things out. My mom does the same thing. "Well my therapist thinks that I'm really smart and everyone should listen to me." She's been diagnosed with 10 different mental illnesses. She frequently has manic induced paranoia. So I'm sure that her therapist at one point told her she was smart and said she had a good point at one time but literally no one should listen to her especially during her episodes which is when she pulls that out. I wish there was a way to make that more clear to clients. Even if they said it to them people like Gabbie and my mom would just ignore it anyway. I think if Gabbie's therapist watched some of her UA-cam videos the advice they would give her might be completely different.

So about the brushes thing. There is this thing it’s called dropshipping. I actually think it’s worth a quick UA-cam search. It’s basically a company selling factory items that they get for 50 cents. Like the metal straws they don’t actually save the turtles. They are 25 cent straws that the company pays as well as free or 1.00 shipping. That they then sell to you for 5.00 that they say is just to cover the shipping costs. But really they make 4.00 to 4.50 on every purchase. For every 100 things sold it’s 400$ profit. i remember when i used to get recommended all those 'get rich quick' youtubers who would talk about how much money you can make from drop shipping. at first i thought it was a good idea, but then i realized how BS it has to be - there's no way to ethically do something like that. the fact that privileged americans can sit on their ass and make tons of money while people are stuck working in factories and sweatshops just to afford to eat... crazy. im not calling you out though! i blame the people who promote the practice

The whole thing with the brushes annoys me. Just because it's a dollar a brush doesn't mean it should be low quality. The point of a sale is the price of your high quality products lowering yet still selling the same product. Which means that if the brushes were originally eighty dollars and were now ten, the brushes are still the same brushes that were worth eighty dollars BUT ARE ON SALE. If a clothes shop sells a good dress for twenty dollars and goes on sale and it's now five dollars, it means you get a good dress for a bargain! Manage your expectations my arse

Gabbie is Breaking so many TOS and is doing so much creator on creator harassment and asking her large audience to also participate, which is against TOS, and so many other things, not to mention spreading a conspiracy theory about them and flipping out all over the internet about them, sending her army of delusional fans to harass and attack them, that it’s really beyond the point that UA-cam should have stepped in and taken serious steps!! It is hard for some people not to be a "bad" person in the limelight, where people are constantly poking a prodding at them and obsessing over every word you say. Bad is subjective, and unless you lay out an entire blueprint of what it means to be good or bad in any and every possible context, then yes it is hard. If you're genuinely emotionally exhausted by this person whose actions have no implications in your life, and do not affect you, then you are no better. The whole thing where Gabbie told Jason that Trish might have herpes really bothered me. I have herpes and while it is incurable, it's completely harmless. The worst part of having it is the stigma around it and the reactions people have when you tell them you have herpes. Now, while it is my responsibility to any sexual partners what I have, it is NOT anyone's place to share that information. That is only going to make my partner distrust me and come back with more anger then may have if I'm the one who tells them. When I imagine if someone told my boyfriend that I have hepatitis instead of herpes, it's horrifying.
And if anyone reading this is newly diagnosed with herpes, you're not alone and you are going to be okay. About 6 months after I was diagnosed, I met my boyfriend who had the best reaction when I told him what I have before we engaged in any intimacy. This isn't the end of the world, I promise.

I think the reason Gabbie gets so much criticism as compared to other influencers who make worse decisions is that she refuses to take accountability for anything she does and lets her army of stans defend her “however they see fit”. Most influencers at least give an “I’m sorry I’ll try to do better” or “I’ve changed” like they at least give you something to work with, whether or not the apologies are real is a whole different story. But Gabbie never says sorry and just passes the blame every time and she refuses to accept that’s the reason people are done paying attention to her.

In the Trisha situation it was “I was just trying to look out for a friend and she’s the one who brought it into the internet” failing to mention that the reason Trisha made her video was because gabbie was the one who brought it to Instagram by posting a screenshot and not blurring out trisha’s name and also failing to mention that Jason was never actually Gabbie’s friend and David was also in the room.
With the Jessi situation it was “I’m not going to sit here exposing screenshots like she did” but proceeds to show a year and a half worth of text messages that do nothing except show they were on good terms when the entire reason Jessi made her video was to tell Gabbie to get out of underage fans DM’s lying and bitching about Jessi. Jessi didn’t make the video to accuse gabbie of doing a collab with Curtis, she said the complete opposite in the video and that she doesn’t know where the rumour started. Once the proof that gabbie supported/defended/hung out with Curtis came to light Gabbie ditched twitter.
With UA-cam it was “UA-cam and I have a toxic relationship and they refuse to put my videos on trending and they’re suppressing my content and I’m shadow banned and I have proof” but she failed to mention how almost all her music videos over the last year actually did make it onto the trending page, they just didn’t do well because her music is so niche. Her channel wasn’t shadow banned because you could still search it up and find all her videos when shadow banned means you can’t find the content at all. Her content is only being “suppressed” because people are interested in drama about gabbie, not gabbie herself anymore. She’s been losing subs and views for years now and she’s not taking it with grace at all. She said she had proof of this supposed “shadow ban” and purposeful content suppression but we’re still waiting to see anything.

karlazeen it’s baffling to see these “influencers” have meltdowns about the state of their careers when their own words and actions directly resulted in their careers being ruined. They’re so out of touch with reality that they don’t even see that they’re lacking basic self awareness and with the amount of people that blindly follow them it’s concerning to see because it’s cult-like mentality!

I think the worst part about the whole thing is the fact that the fame she got went to her head and made her so entitled and unwilling to act accountability for her actions. Smokey Glow has a video on Gabbie that people should watch, as well, called Gabbie Hanna is Not the Victim. I use to be a huge fan and she is one of the few channels I've ever actively started disliking. Love how well this was put together.
Pretty sure someone replied and deleted their comment talking about how the fame couldn't have gone to her head because it made everybody distance themselves from Gabbie and that's absolutely not true. I couldn't read the rest of the comment, but the beginning I absolutely don't agree with. People did not distance themselves from Gabbie because she became famous. They distanced themselves because they realized she was a terrible person. Plenty of influencers get famous and keep their friend circle. Gabbie wasn't able to because she is not a very nice person and she's never able to accept her faults or responsibilities for her actions. I was never officially in the standom, but I was definitely a Gabbie Stan. I loved her so much. We are the same age and I related to her a lot, especially when I first discovered her on Vine. I've watched her for years and made excuses for her, but I'm over it now. What's ridiculous is that she hasn't grown up in this time and still continues to blame everybody else for her problems. So yes, I believe fame got to her head still, because when she was calling herself TheGabbieShow still, she wasn't near this entitled and selfish. And if she was, she hid it way better.

She seems to have this idea that constructive criticism has to be stated nicely to be constructive, and that if it isn’t stated nicely enough for her liking, she’s not obligated to give it any consideration whatsoever.
I mean, technically nobody is ever obligated to do anything, but I mean that in the sense that, to her, that invalidates an argument. Like, “This hurt my feelings, so that means they’re just a meanie, so therefore they’re automatically in the wrong.”
But at the same time; none of the things that have been thrown her way has been criticism, how is making memes of her, calling her a bad person and hating on her music (keyword is = hating) any kind of criticism? It isn’t... it’s hate and nobody deserved that.

All I’ve seen is blatant bullying on the internet; Tik Tok’s and memes galore... not only that, but they also try to justify it with misinformation or lies. It’s never ok to make harmful jokes or bullying people on the internet and it’s literally all I’ve seen; criticism is literally never present... and if people don’t stop, then they don’t have the right to ask Gabbie to change or do better because nobody’s perfect.

@Jade S I believe there'a difference in how a person talks about the subject. She pretty much talked about someone she didn't really personally know, made speculation on how they died and put ads on the video. If you're being informative, that's one thing. Making up reasons you *think* someone who happened to go to the same school as you died and posting it for likes/views is disgusting imo.
Same can be said about True Crime channels if they're on the verge of being disrespectful. You can talk about past crimes especially if it prevents someone from ending up a victim or missing persons reports to help find the missing. But if those channels title a video "My Favorite Murder", then they should expect some backlash.
But she did delete it... immediately after she heard about the drama.

@@hawkwing8840 Used to be a fan of hers and had previously watched that video. In fact it's the video that really started making me realise that she just wasn't someone I should be following. From what I remember, she wasn't actually in the class with her when it happened or the events leading up to it. So everything she talks about are things she was told by others plus adding her own little flair. Honestly she shouldn't have posted something about it years after it happened and it wasn't her story to tell. If she wanted to raise 'drug awareness' there are plenty of other things she can do to help others. Digging up old things that she wasn't even involved in and bringing back pain for that girls family, to me, is horrible.
