      Its good for some limited 3rd person views in that regard, just make sure you have a seperate audio recorder.

    A detailed and honest review, telling it how it is. The danger with some of the over hyped reviews is that expectations will be raised too high. I see the Hover X1 as an additional tool when video making - much like we may choose a different camera for a certain situation. If the limitations are understood - which you’ve explained well, the benefits will speak for themselves. The big misunderstanding is that this will replace a traditional drone. It’s a bit like saying an electric screwdriver will do everything an electric drill will do. They look similar and there’s some overlap, but nowhere near the same. And in fairness to Hover, they don’t make that claim anyway. Where this does make a huge difference is the simple setup for quick ‘follow me’ shots where carrying the controller of a traditional drone safely on a bicycle can be problematic. Thanks for taking the time to make this clear.

    The price is what kept me away but finally bought one during their Black Friday sale. Just as you said, it's a good little drone for what it is intended to do. I have other drones that I use for more cinematic stuff but none of those are as easy to get up into the air and back. Just took it with me for the first time on a motorcycle trip and there will be many more to come. Thanks for the detailed review.

    can it be flown over water via manual mode without any trouble? I understand it doesn’t like water and can’t determine if you just got lucky getting it back to you on the water shot or if it can do it in manual mode. Thanks.

      You can for a short while but if it decides it can,t determine its height it just automatically switches to auto landing

    hello, nice review, thank you. Is it noisier than say a dji mini drone?

    • @gfeher27
      @gfeher27  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes, having flown it around others who have the dji, Ive realized the issue is how close it is. The dji probably at the same distance has similar noise levels(still quieter), but the dji generally flies higher and farther when taking videos so the noise almost instantly disapears once its further out therefore drawing much less attention in your present location.

    are most of the clips in the video 1080p 60 or 2.7k 30 ?

    • @gfeher27

      Most are 1080p 30, a few of the landscape ones are 2.7k but the video editor converted everything to 1080

    Nice review. If it loses you. What does it do? Land, fly off wildly looking for you or what?

    • @gfeher27
      @gfeher27  Рік тому +3

      Thanks. It just stops where it is and hovers with a blinking red light. Thats when depending on where it is you pull out the phone and have to manually guide it back to you. Generally you can just walk over to it and if you grab it and flip it 180 deg upside down it automatically cuts the propellers and shuts off.

      An update to this, It lost tracking coming back over some rocks, and I took too long to connect to it, and it just decided to land where it was causing it to crash into a boulder and flop around like a pinball for about an 8ft drop. Suprisingly the drone took no damage and was able to use it right away after.

    Intriguing! What keeps it following you (and your family) instead of someone else walking by?

    • @gfeher27
      @gfeher27  Рік тому +2

      It does some sort of rudimentry pattern matching lock before it starts following you. If there are a lot of people wearing the same clothes and are the same size it will probably struggle. Since everyone in most of my use is distincly different havn't really had an issue with this. It will give you an error after take off and come back if it fails to lock a pattern, I had that once when everyone was wearing hats and sunglasses it couldnt establish a facial lock for tracking.

    The question is, how would this behave in an envorimeont with many difffernt people ?

    • @gfeher27
      @gfeher27  Рік тому

      If the question is will it follow you in a crowd. Havn't tried since drones are banned generally where there are lots of people. But my guess would be it will lose tracking. Ive done follow with a group of 8 people and it didnt get confused so it does a pretty good job.

      Glad you liked it. Thats why I made it. There are too many paid reviews out there that make it seem like a miracle drone. Dont get me wrong I like it within its use case, but it has some significant trade offs that can be dissapointing if your not aware of it upfront.

    Oh how painful of watching every minute to see if captain amazing here gives the key details or not - your really really really close, but missed a big detail. Allow me to apologize for my insolence. You mention (2k) resolution in landscape mode and 1080p30 in portrait mode. Basically this toy is a new spinoff of DJI's Tello drone - a very excellent drone that probably doesn't require a Pilot's Certificate (not license) to fly in open areas. BUT THE BIG QUESTION IS: Does the HoverAir X1 have a slot for a memory card so that the camera can take pictures or record video while flying? I look forward to your update. Good resolution in the video.

    • @gfeher27
      @gfeher27  Рік тому +2

      Talked about in the video. No sd card, just onboard memory. 12GB I think.

    • @gfeher27
      @gfeher27  Рік тому +1

      Yeah you just have to be aware of your surroundings. Since you can just pull it out and launch in like 20 seconds its not really an issue. This is not like a DJI you dont have to wait for anything to pair or gps lock etc. Its litterally unfold and go
