Dillon had a great teacher in his father. Watched him at Mililani high school and continue to follow him for all his college years. Wish him continued success in whatever he chooses to do. He makes us proud to be from Hawaii
I couldn’t be more happy that Dillon chose to come to Oregon he has represented his family and Hawaii with such humility and grace 10 years after Marcus another island boy wearing number 8, this year has been so much fun he’ll always have a home in Eugene
Manti, Marcus, Tua and now Dillon are consistent examples of how the players from Hawaii are humble, grounded people first before becoming great players. You can bet the Hawaiian culture and people are responsible for molding their values and personalities. It’s amazing to think that UCF greatest seasons were with two HI QBs in McKenzie Milton and Dillon, Oregon’s got to national title game and Heisman trophy winner with a HI QB in Marcus and Alabama winning the national title game with Tua another HI QB. He was on track to win the Heisman if it wasn’t for his injury. Dillon winning the national championship and Heisman would be a continuation of an unbelievable Hawaii tradition.
I’m a freelance photographer with a passion in sports, I’ve been lucky enough this year to photograph a lot of home duck games and a couple away games, I’ve been fortunate enough to have met Dillon a couple times after the games through our mutual friend Terrance Ferguson . Dillon is such a great person. The kindness he has shown me in the little amount of time we have after the game and everything going on, he has changed my life and has inspired me to keep being a good person in life. Thank you Dillon for everything. If you see or hear my message Dillon, you know what I’m talking about. God bless you brotha.
People forget or did not know that his dad Garret was the UH QB who defeated BYU in 1989 and 1990 after never winning against them. Also people don't realize that UH football was the spread offense, run and shoot for years since the 70's. Here we are 50 years later, Colt Brennan's standout 12-0 2007 season, broke many records and lost to a Georgia team in the Sugar Bowl, which Georgia had 30 days to pore over the offense and players, and Coach June Jones not installing new plays after accepting the SMU coaching job before the game. Yet UH's performance against these major conference teams they beat were filled with excuses, officials, system QB etc. Yet, if you look at mostly ALL Pro and College teams and their offenses now, mostly ALL of them are now running the same offense that UH ran 30 years ago. QB in the shotgun position, 4 receivers, one running back, and 5 on the offensive line. The only difference back then was that UH was beating people with NO 3, 4 or 5 star recruits, while many major colleges have them all.
Love this breakdown of UH’s legacy- didn't know how ahead of its time the run and shoot was and how much it shaped modern football, plus underdogs always got something special about them!
@@ZenGameShow You should watch the replays of the 1989 and 1990 of BYU vs UH, with Garret Gabriel as QB. They had never won against BYU since joining the conference. Many people may criticize the officials when UH beat Alabama, Michigan State, Purdue, Arizona St. etc., but watch the games, especially ranked teams. There is a reason why many teams like Michigan St. and Texas opted out of playing UH at home. How can major college conference teams be losing to a team with no 3, 4 or 5 star recruits right? Must be the officiating!
