  • In this TJsRC video a stock Redcat Gen 8 AXE Edition makes a solo snowy trail run. We find some snowy slopes to challenge as well as a few small rocks to conquer. The stock Gen 8 AXE is quite the capable trail truck right out of the box and the brushless power of the 2300kv motor is more than enough for what we did today. More Gen 8 AXE video's are coming so if you are interested in that be sure you are subscribed so you don't miss out. Thanks for watching.

    Most of the guys following you dont have the inside story. Most everything you do with the RC Truck I have seen you do with the mudding and crawling jeep. Great to be following all the tests and upgrades, keep bringing it!

    Nice video of a sweet rig. You should do a video in Schmeakly, those are fun trails to walk.

      I've never been in there. There's a few fun spots on the green circle trail back behind Herrschnerrs but I haven't done any filming there yet. Life has been crazy this year so I haven't gotten the trucks out much but I do want to get back to it.

      Sean’s RC Adventures Thanks. We're sure enjoying it. I think I have to find a figure to put in the driver's seat though.

      Brad Cruse Nice, sounds fun. Getting a figure is on the short list of things I want to do. I just haven't figured out what character I want to go with yet.

    Awesome! Steel gears sound like a diesel engine...installing mine this weekend!

      Big Boy Toys They are loud for sure. I'm still undecided, can't tell if I don't mind it or if it's irritating 😁 it's currently somewhere in between. Good luck on your installation there.

      @@TJsRC did you grease the gears?

    • @TJsRC
      @TJsRC  4 роки тому +1

      Big Boy Toys I checked everything for proper grease before ever powering it up. The T-case was a little low on the grease but it isn't now. As far as I understand it it's just a side effect of the steel gears and there isn't any thing to do about it. If it really bothers me I will play around with different kinds of grease to see if one is less noisy than another. But that's a pretty low priority right now.

      @@TJsRC I like the sound....
      To me it adds to the realism...just got my gears and aluminum T-case driveshaft, can't wait to install and see her go. I'll probably put a light coat of marine grease on the gears anyways.

    Does your wheels get really firm in the snow? My regular gen 8 was hard like a rock.

      RatanakTevy I swapped out the foams as soon as I pulled it out of the box. The stock foams might be fine in warm climates but in Wisconsin this time of year they were like rocks. I had an old set of stock Trx4 foams on hand and just put them in there. They're not anything special but they are a lot softer than the stock foams.

    • @garyfreeman9
      @garyfreeman9 4 роки тому +1

      RatanakTevy Yeah mine were the same way. I boiled a pan of water and set my Gen8 foams in the boiling water one at a time for 1 minute let them drain and cool and it softened them right up.

      FREEMAN RC Interesting, do they still get hard in the cold after doing that? If not I'll have to give it a try.

      Nice video! I boiled mine as well and the very next day they turned right back into the same memory foams unfortunately. I junked them. I've got a set of Hyrax foams in them now but I'm just not a fan of the tires. My buddy bought Pitbull kor's I believe for his and they look amazing and they're the same size as the stock axe tires.

    • @garyfreeman9
      @garyfreeman9 4 роки тому +1

      @@TJsRC I set my tires in the freezer with the beads loose to get them the same temp before rushing out the door. it seemed to help. But I use super swamper rocks tires look just like hyrax brand. But anyways they with the hyrax foams work better and never get hard. The redcat foams did stiffen up after the boil but nothing like they were before I did that.
