I agree. It's a lonely feeling, and I always had a fascination and interest with astronomy and the planets, and couldn't understand why this was forgotten by the masses of people...or how nobody cared. The sun may protect the solar system from the galaxy's radiation, but earth protects us from the sun's radiation otherwise the sun would blow away earth's atmosphere. All our other planets are dead, hot rocky deserts or big, cold balls of cloudy death.
This is a great introduction to our star for astronomy beginners. It is not too trivial but it also does not contain concepts that are too complex and impossible to learn for a novice.

This video says that auroras are caused by the sun's magnetic field interacting with the Earth's atmosphere; however, it is my understanding that the auroras are a result of the solar wind interacting with Earth's magnetic field.
It's the result of charges particles interacting with the earth atmosphere. Nothing to do with magnetic fields.
Actually you're right its charged particles following the earths magnetic field

I am really pleased to learn more about the Sun. The Sun is an essential presence for us and truly magnificent. Nature is full of mysteries and wonders, constantly renewing itself in unimaginable ways. It is hard to believe that these natural environments are being destroyed right now. Let's all make efforts to protect this mysterious and wonderful world.
we really are forgetting how small and meaning less we are. but how great cosmic dance and rhythms have created us. for it made conditions availed for us to exist. It's so humbling to learn about sun in such great detail. sad to see many have started to become masters of nature when actually its the opposite.
