But you can bet it won't sell for less than a couple hundred million if in decent condition or even a few billion if it wasn't the crown of just any old queen or king but rather a famous king or queen. We're talking about a collector's item with a price that could potentially be hundreds of times higher if it looks like it could've come off the ruler's head, was immediately stashed away, and then wasn't brought out again until literally right before the collector bought it. And then, we also have to take into account this is a fantasy world. We already KNOW there's a chance that thing is enchanted somehow. So if it's in good condition, from a famous monarch, and also has a good enchantment... the price could potentially be thousands of times greater than a 'ruined' item. But, that said, I think you made the right choice for the wrong reason. You're early in the game and you probably can't detect magic well enough to see what it is you're actually buying. So, realistically, I don't think you should buy it. But not because it's impossible for it to be worth the money. But because there's a decent chance you're being scammed out of 500 or maybe even 9500 gold if you bought it for 2950. You could also be gaining 2000 gold instead. But you're just not skilled enough to know. And you could potentially be buying something that's cursed and we don't know, as far as I am aware, yet whether curses can directly impact the buyer. Such as causing you to lose some amount of gold or another item or something else horrible. So it's logically not worth the risk, in my opinion. But simply because you're not knowledgeable about special items yet. On the other hand... learning by making mistakes is a valid strategy in a game you can just start over. So maybe the correct choice would have been to buy the item just to find out. But, in terms of the gameplay itself rather than your own experience as a player, I don't think you should buy it.
