- Here's something I don't normally do. In this video we talk about the infamous Diesel from Thomas & Friends known as, Diesel 10. This is just speculation on what his backstory was like and I could be horribly wrong on this because not much is known about this villain so take what I say with a pinch of salt. Anyway, hope you enjoy!

I think the experimental hydraulic claw makes lots of sense, my guess is that he worked as a maintenance engine and pinchy was used to pick objects off the rails. He also could’ve been used as a crane substitute in a goods or scrap yard kind of like Reg
I live on Long Island and on the LiRR there’s diesels with mechanical arms with claws that lay down sleepers during rail replacements

Pinchy could've been used to dig up with Pinchy being dug into the ground, clamping around the dirt and rock, and being pulled out of the ground
This diesel scared me from all of the thomas series. When I was a kid.

Diesel 10 didn't scared as a kid because when I saw diesel 10 for the first he was already my favorite character. He's still my favorite character to this day.

Diesel 10 is a passanger locomotive with a hydraulic metal claw, built for scrap, installed by a manufacturer.
If Thomas and Friends got another movie,Then we get his origin explained and he would team up with Sailor John later down the Road.

I think Diesel 10 is perfect without a origin story and better off mysterious. Wow, maybe I should use that word more often for talks about villains who are fine without backstories.

One of the best things about villains having not much of a canon past is that you can make most of it up.
Looking at this theory, I can't help but feel bad for Diesel 10. :(

I used to be afraid of this guy until my dad told me that people like diseal 10 are out there and that they’re harmful cowards who don’t take responsibility for the terrible things they’ve done. They think this will get them further in life by knocking others down or even killing them. Now whenever I see this so called engine I get furious cause it’s not right for him to threaten others too, doesn’t own everything and everyone
theory:diesel 10 was made and he doesent have claw and he was given a claw to pick up some rocks or other things so he dont need a loader to do it and after that he saw lady and he chased lady and destroyed her
but when he found out she is still alive he chased thomas and lady and diesel 10 fell into barge after that
he was in the barge for years until diesel 10 was lifted back to the tracks but in the misty island and he never showed up to bash dash ferdinand and until he got out he got his revenge and in season 17 he stole christmas decorasion until he just gave them to steam team until he was retired and sent for scrap and pinchy apeared in the episode of what rebbeca does when she had a day dream
This makes so much sense
Diesel’s Chinese name was translated accordingly to similar pronunciations “Disaier”. However, some Chinese translations of Diesel 10 just translated it into “Disaier 10”, which causes confusions. A comment suggested to translate him into “Diesel #10”.

Great backstory! To me, I always think of Diesel 10 as an experimental engine because of his unrealistic giant claw.
Same. It would make sense that he was a privately owned engine who was tinkered with and turned into an experimental engine.
Also, originally D10 had a retractable roof for hiding his claw, which might further support the theory that he was an experimental engine.
I got a theory......
Diesel 10 starts as your regular diesel, he is given the claw to use for railway maintenance. He's lent to Sodor for a time when they are building the airport in CAE. Then he leaves and finds work at the Dieselworks near Vicarstown. There he becomes more informed of diesel superoriority and becomes a troublemaker to the steam engines. Following DOTD, he's sent packing to the mainland where his absurd claw is mocked by diesel and steam.
Then one day, he snaps as a steam engine is teasing him, and he crushes him with his claw. Diesel 10 sees the power he has.... and thus gains respect from all engines. Like Oliver destroying Scruffy lead to him being respected by the trucks, Diesel 10 asserts his power over all engines and thus is respected/feared. He returns to Sodor maybe during a delivery and sees Lady and tries to destroy her. He leaves her for dead and thinks he's gotten revenge on the Sodor engines who threw him off their island in the first place. But when he's called back during Magic Railroad, he sees he's not succeeded in destroying the engines as he'd hoped. He deduces Lady is still around, the only engine who can oppose his power as a king among engines. That's why he's beyond sadistic, willing to kill Mr. C and will stop at nothing to get rid of her. He'll make sure she's gone forever this time. But he fails.... and is never seen again
No mix ups. His debut comes first.
Sometimes I hate how whenever there’s a character from a movie, those characters appear for a few episodes but disappear right after. With diesel 10, I wished they could have done more with him. When I first heard about say of the diesels, I was hoping for something more crazy, adventurous, dangerous and etc. but instead got a story based about friendship and Diesel 10 just trying to take away the steam works.
Blame Sharon Miller for it. It's too bad Mattel deemed him too scary to appear because if he remains in the show, Andrew Brenner would have created more episodes and specials that features Diesel 10 at his very evil best.
I'm pretty sure Sailor John is actually the most dangerous character, he literally threw TNT AT THOMAS but luckily he missed, he also got a shovel and smacked it on Thomas face, this man is trying to literally kill him
That’s a good point, Sailor John was a pretty dangerous villain. Let’s just say, Diesel 10 is the most dangerous vehicle villain while Sailor John is the most dangerous human villain.

Diesel 10 has always been my favorite character in Thomas the tank engine, we haven't seen him since the end of King of the railway, i don't know what happened to him, but all I know is, if he doesn't come back again, I just want y'all to know, Diesel 10 is actually a Robot 🤖.

Fun fact: rumours have been spread that Britt Allcroft gave Diesel 10 his name as a reference to him being the tenth Diesel to appear in the show. Also, his claw Pinchy has been stated as being an illegal modification.

Nice origin story. Personally, I always theorized D10 was (turned into) an experimental engine. With the experiments and the new-found independency from human drivers, he became mad with power and declared himself his own boss.

The Thomas and Friends timeline of Diesel 10 is backwards I'm pretty sure it takes place in magic railroad no I mean calling all engines because he was actually nice and then we go to magic railroad he must have found out about the magic engine then we all have to miss the Island rescue he could have been buried in debris because he was on the Garbage barge the last time line is Day of the diesels because he planned his revenge common sense for you guys
