Donner instruments, like this and their travel guitars, are a better bargain than many. Really like the high relief pickguard too no one I know is doing this anymore. Thanks Richard great review.
Sweet Strat. I'd like it even more if the switch engaged the neck pup with the bridge. Don't need coil split on the H.B. pup. Almost every day is Straturday in my world 🎸
Yeah, I'd probably re-wire it as an auto-split, so the bridge pickup alone is always a humbucker but becomes a single-coil when used along with the middle pickup... And change that mini toggle to a neck-on switch (similar to the bridge-on David Gilmour Mod) to get all combinations.
Simply put... I want one. I have the 400. It feels great and sounds great, but the push pull coil split is not easy to do, and it looks like they fixed it with the switch! Also, I love the look of the neck!
@joweerocks great idea!!! I had entertained the idea of installing one of those push button switch knobs I saw Sean use on Scar My Guitar, but your idea sounds better! 😆
These companies are really giving you a good reason to not care what name is on the headstock. You're not really missing out on anything except a little nostalgia these days and the big names are only marginally "better" if at all.
Thanks for showing the block and everything. I just bought the C$240 Tostar Jazzmaster from Amazon for simplicity and to try that body style, but this looks like the best Strat choice by far, for when I feel like thinking about the whammy bar and stuff. I love the neck and truss rod adjustment... And your shirt! New subscriber here.
Another great review. Donner has really improved their features and lineup lately whether it's guitars, pedals or accessories. I really like that neck, roasted maple just looks awesome on a white or cream guitar.
That's pretty badass , I'm a big Donner fan , I have the DMT 100 with the double humbuckers , along with several donner pedals and a power supply. Everything they put out seems to be good quality and is pretty affordable. Great demo shredder! 👍 ✌️🤘 PS I watched your last Livestream the next day and when you were talking about shaving your head and face i couldn't agree more , it sucks. I've been shaving my head since the late 90's and still hate doing it , but I grew a long ass beard. Basically a goat T style that's around 10" long so i only have to shave my cheeks. I think when you're bald you have to grow some kind of facial hair , at least in my case anyway. Although my beard is pretty white now if I shaved it off i would probably look 10 years younger 😅 Oh well at 58 who cares right ✌️
My wife and I have 2 each of the Donner seeker 152 and 2 each of the DMT 100 a Donner Foldable Keyboard 🎹 1 each of the The Donner Arena Multiple Effects pedals and several Donner pedals as well as a couple of weeks ago we snagged 1each of the DLP models 1 each of the starts with the head stock painted to match. 1 each of the Telecasters. So yeah on sale we are snagging them... Cheers 🥂 🍾
Donner rocks! I know because I bought a Donner Strat from Facebook Marketplace, and it was the best $100 I'd ever spent. It's a great guitar! I love it!
I agree about the cutaway on the back that gives you access to the upper frets better.. This is a guitar 🎸🎵🎶🎶🎶 my wife and I have our eyes on .. We love Donner... You can email them and they get back to you... I just wish they would have combined this with the DMT 100. The cutaway IMO Thos model needs 24 Frets.. Cheer's 🍻 🥃🥃🎸🎵🎶🎶🎶
Great review and demonstration. You covered everything , I was wondering about the tremolo block but you covered that. I did wonder about the single coils , you said that they were about 3.6 K was that between the neck and the middle pickup, since that would be pretty low for a single coil pickup?
I do not know this to be fact but, I feel that doing away with the metsl neck plate & installing metal ferrules, makes for more movement of the neck. I would like to see a sculpted metal plate to match the sculpture & still include the ferrules for those who prefer them.
I love your channel! Could you do a video on various ways to block the tremolo (like 5 springs and screwing the claw further back, or wood inset to make it not float), and how to deal with spring noise? It's so hard to find guitars w/o tremolo unless they are super cheap or super expensive. Thanks!
It's easy. Just put all 5 springs and tighten the claw tight. If it's a two point floating trem, just don't use the bar. And wrap a small piece of black electrical tape around each spring.
Good looking guitar. Only thing I would add about the tremolo is ALWAYS make sure to train a new trem. They'll hold tune substabtially better than an untrained trem regardless of type.
You had a real Eric Johnson vibe with that Humbucker split and the distortion up. Thought you were gonna break into some Cliff's Of Dover for a moment. I love that neck, but that tremolo looks a little sus. I'm still team hardtail. That pickguard really looks great, though. Overall, I like that guitar.
One more thing... but I slightly different subject. I recently got a Slick SL54T used for a steal, and I've wanted one (crimson no less) since I saw Guitar Maxx review one. I'm just curious why YOU haven't reviewed one? I'm in love with mine, but the medium jumbo frets... even Maxx said he'd just call them jumbo... are winning me over to why you like them! The pickup is also just insanely good for an already high quality guitar! Just suggesting that MAYBE you look at one for your next time you get away from IYV, Donner, or Leo Jaymz (which I enjoy all of those too!).
I am not keen on the headstock and the flat horns, I like the rounded body of the original Fender body, many import models have the same body shape, I love the dot markers on the fretboard though, although it doesn't look as though it has rounded edges and if it does they must be very small. The volume pot doesn't seem to be in the way like the Fender ones are, there are some nice tones from that hot humbucker. I can get a much better guitar for the money though!
Bought this one and honestly its a super well constructed guitar, looks expensive and feels good BUT; Frets are insanely skinny to my liking, thr QC on my guitar was pretty awful with many deffects in the paint job and a super beat up pickguard, and the pickups are 100% the weakest part of this guitar. Was disappointed and its a shame because this guitar is my ideal guitar in terms of looks and specs

Donner has come along way from when I first heard of them
Yep they sure have.
Very nice guitar. The white has a cool retro vibe going.
Love to see another great affordable option for the market.
Very nice 👍 that thing sounds great!
Best way to start the days

I put a telecaster knob on the push/pull. Works great. love my 400!

Sounds and looks great
oatmeal! the creamy goodness to start my day!
Nice Axe There...Poplar lends itself to humbuckers well.
Wow, looks and sounds killer, definitely on my radar. I just need to make room for another guitar lol

Yep, each single was only 3.6K each. Pretty low but still sound good.
Nice looking Donner

I’m crazy about the white body with gold trim. I gotta get something that looks like that one of these days.

It would be helpful if you could tells what amp and pedals, if any, you are using in your sound demos. Thanks!
Good looking guitar. Only thing I would add about the tremolo is ALWAYS make sure to train a new trem. They'll hold tune substabtially better than an untrained trem regardless of type.

Nice pick. Good Demo. the SM58. I was thinking SM57 ,oh well. is one workhorse for a Mic. Thanks Bro
Actually I own an SM57 and not an SM58. They were giving away these shirts at NAMM years ago.

Nice guitar. You should review a Tease Strat. They go for less and are awesome
@@TimRock1269 coming soon
I was looking at this lask week. Decided to buy the Boss Gen 3 head instead (its overrated, but at the same time not)...
Next time you're ready to buy something, get this.
This looks like the signature Ibanez guitar from Polyphia Scott Lepage!
Looks like a Lizzy Hale edition
i was expecting ss frets tbh
But does Snake Pliskin like it??

Who makes Donner Guitars? Seem decent.
Donner makes Donner guitars.
I want to make a comment about your whammy bar comments and illustration...but I will behave myself.
