Is the Motorhome to be or not to be? Do we make the move from Touring Caravan to a Motorhome? We have our Favorites do you? The caravan is on hold for now as we want to go to Europe!!
Like your end comments. Bit of a dilemma isn’t it. So many motorhomes to look around as well. One comment that you’ve said in this and other videos is caravan or motorhome. In my opinion both have a place. A caravan is for making a base for a while whereas a motorhome is for going from place and perhaps only staying for one or two days. Motorhomes have quite a few disadvantages eg calling in at a supermarket or tourist venue. A large garage is a must especially if you have a drive away air awning. Trust me there is a perfect motorhome out there - you just haven’t found it!
Depends how you holiday I guess. I tend to travel around more than stay in one place so a motorhome / campervan makes more sense. If you tend to stay on a site for days/weeks then a caravan is more suitable.
Oh my i know how you feel. We have had caravans, campervans, large motorhomes and even 2 narrowboats. Our latest combination has been a Basecamp 2 towed by our VW transporter. Love them both but after many many many conversations we have decided to get a 6m panel van conversion. We had a large 7.5m motorhome in the past but felt really restricted stuck on site.....we hate public transport. We also found we preferred the ease of the VW but have 2 large labradors and so we wanted more space and a wetroom. The best thing someone said to us was.....get whatever outfit suits you at the time and stage of life and remember nothing is for ever. That helped. Good luck choosing 😊
Thanks for the advice, Richard has a Land Rover that he is looking to get a roof tent on too, alongside the motorhome. He grew up with Motorhomes but as an adult always had caravans, definitely a lot of options out there, it’s finding the right layout at the right price for now 😀
Your better saving your money and getting an A Class German build. Something like a Niessmann Bischoff. Come with huge garage and you can get some lovely ones with under 50k miles on for £25k to £35k.
My Dad always said when I was growing up if you need to move the van to do something than it’s time to move on and find a new place.. Both have there 4 against for us to travel Europe they so many possitives
I went through it all too mate . The garage is mega important for me , being able to take all your stuff with you to sit outside is great . Awnings and tables and chairs x4 fits in perfect. Even got room for fishing tackle . The raised 2 beds in the back are like having a full time bed but it’s better with the 884 rather than the 894 because there’s more cupboard space and bigger garage
Hi guys have you considered a Bailey Adamo dual lounge MH it has front and rear lounge both with drop down beds above and a garage. The compromise is the bathroom which is a combined wet room affair. Looking forward to seeing what you finally choose
I can't argue with Rich having had a couple of Bailey caravans but if you compare them to say entry level Swifts and Autotrails which will be at the same price point you would be getting similar quality furnishings and fittings. If you have the funds for the likes of a Kon Tiki then I agree there would be no comparison with the Bailey on quality. Good luck with your continued search
@@campingrallies i don't use it as much as i should do, sat in storage most of the time. bought it to do dad and daughter adventures but teenager would rather do other things. so thinking smaller panel van conversion and going solo.
Yes a garage is great and your comment of "You can get loads in them" made me laugh. You are still restricted by the weight you can carry and that weight needs to be evenly distributed about the motorhome. Filling the garage with all your stuff makes the motorhome over weight on the rear axle.
@@campingrallies tbh all depends on budget etc,i have had new and used from dealers, The autotrail i have now i purchased private , If you are mechanically minded its probably the best way as dealer warranties are like joke books Good luck
I ended up LIVING at Brownhills my van needed so much work. On the plus side I made some good friends with the staff. In the end they purchased the van back off me!
My advice is don’t allow yourself to be swayed too much by UA-camrs. We have fell for this as when you watch them a lot it feels you can trust what they say but often they are paid/promoted or work with certain brands. You mentioned one UA-camr in particular where there is always an angle with them and you have to be careful. It’s a vast sum of money you are spending. Good luck on your quest x
Thank you for the advice, completely agree. I think when we have watched via others experiences it’s just brought to home that that’s the way to go forward, now time to knuckle down and find the best solution for us 😊
I've noticed this myself. Some are definitely promoting certain manufacturers. And would tell you how great they are even if they've been plauged with problems
Don't forget if you buy on tic with min deposit on a 100k motor over 10 years you will pay 68k interest .that's 6800 a year interest alone at current apr rates 11.9%😏😏
Yes it’s a costly thing on finance, we have sold our Caravan so have a decent amount to put down, but we are conscious of the expense for finance. It was only today someone mentioned you can get 15 year finance on certain ones! That would be crazy for anyone to get into .

Thank you, yes you are right. We love to camp and are looking forward to travelling Europe for those short stints as we travel between places

We have had a look at a few, there are so many to look at it gets confusing at times
You need to buy secondhand for your first van and spend a couple of years with it, then if you still want to throw away thousands then buy new
Used is definitely the way for us to start, as you say we may decide against it once we have one
falling apart....??? 8 years...???......my motorhome is 23 years old, runs great, everything still works....🤗😁
Thank you
we went there the other day & looked at the price if transit van campers , the prices were ridiculous , i can't justify paying those prices .
They are very expensive aren't they.
More bang for your bucks with a caravan. At least you can leave the caravan on site and drive around in your tow vehicle.

I bought a brand new 884 . Am really pleased with it tbh
Is there anything you would recommend to do/ not to do or get? We do really like the Swift Kon tiki range it’s all about layout now for us I think.

Great to see how you went round and worked out your priorities for which one you wanted.
It was great to go and actually see them. Although we are still wrestling with which way to go.

We shall have a look we have not looked at any Bailey motorhomes yet our caravan was a Bailey and Rich was not overly impressed with build quality

I have the same set up as the scout in my motorhome. It;s the Autotrail Apache 700 Automatic. 4250kg Great family van .... Maybe forsale too.
It is a great Motorhome! Are you upgrading or changing to something different?

Here's my answer, dont buy of brownhills, the aftersales are shocking
Thanks for the advice, do you have any recommendations of who to use?
