For anyone who doesn't have a primer on hand/ can't afford a good one, I use a home made mixture of baby lotion and pure aloe vera gel and it works the same
Thank you sooo much!! For the life of me, I could not figure out how to apply the cheap face paint from Walmart. It always looked so blotchy and thick, and I thought I was stupid because it looked awful when I did it! I can't wait to try this!
I've never used white face makeup before and was worried about it looking greasy but I just tried your process and it was so easy and looks great! Thanks so much!! PS I'm using it as a base for a mummy costume and works perfect!
Hi Lena, thank you so much for this video! I’ve been wanting to make my face white and always failed. I’m going to order the primer now... that’s probably the reason why it came out bad. Lol... This is the first time I googled face painting and you were my first click. Lol You’re adorable!
This was extremely helpful! I've had quite a challenge for some time with my Mehron white facepaint not covering as evenly as I want, and having it dry up and fall away, and I feel like this will help immensely, thank you very much for your assistance!
It can use a foundation brush for white cream makeup to make a vampires, skeletons, and clowns.use a light brown regular foundation to make a basic witch's makeups and more, about foundation brush.
I am a juggalette and when I go to parties/concerts/take photos I paint my face. The base is white but when I try to apply it the paint comes out streaky! This video helps alot! Thank you so much! Much Clown Love! -Morbjorn
Yes, a daily moisturizer, just make sure it's one that doesn't have a thick consistency because the point of this is to make the thick face paint smoother and easier to apply =)
Terrance Atkins Yay! So glad I could help ^_^ Why don't you send me your creation to my facebook fan page? =) I'd love to see how your makeup turned out! =)
+redbirdacres Glad I could've helped ^_^ What are you planning to do for Halloween? If you want to, you can send me a pic of your Halloween look to my facebook fan page =)
Can I wear a regular adult Cleopatra costume the one with black dress to go trick or treating with kids to get some free candy, about October 31st,around the neighborhood.
Hi, I am going for a "day of the dead" look with black circles around my eyes to look like a skull. Do you recommend the same technique for black makeup? Using the moisturizer with the black makeup? Thanks! :)
I am doing a dia de los muertos makeup and I was wondering if I could use the same technique you used for black makeup? I need to use black face paint around my eyes, but I wasn't sure if I could use moisturizer in that. Thank you!! :)
I wanted to do a cosplay, but the character has white skin, while I have brown. i know skin colour in such cases is not really a big issue, but i just want to portray the character as accurately as I can. Since it is a more drastic change, will this work for me? As in, will medium-brown skinned people look ashy ?
I will be the puppet from fnaf this year, and I have no idea about how to correctly blend and apply make up. Do you have any tips on how to do this? Also, sorry if you said this in the video and I didn't catch it, but where do you get that white make up that you use, and how much is it? I have been using that creamy, horrible make up that you can get at Walmart or spirit Halloween that comes in the tube, so it doesn't really blend well, but the stuff you have in that little thing seems to be much better quality. Thanks for such a thorough and straightforward video! It was amazingly helpful.
+Pinkie CupcakePie Glad I could've helped ^_^ The product I use is from Kryolan called Supracolor. Maybe try mixing the product you mentioned with a moisturizer. The Kryolan one doesn't blend in that well if it's on its own either. (well it sort of does but it feels thick and heavy on the skin but the moisturizer makes the texture lighter and more blendable). Let me know how it worked! =)
Can I wear me a regular Adult police officer Halloween costume to go trick or treating with kids to get some free candy about October 31st around the neighborhood, and can I use a plastic bags for Halloween candy of trick or treating for next year.
OrtegaX13 put a thin layer of vasalein on the edge of anything you don't want the make up to stain. When I color people's hair (I'm a barber) I dip a Q tip into a jar of vasalein and just run it on the perimeter of skin where the hairline starts. The vasalein works as a protective barrier and color won't stain the skin.
Will the mixing with cream work for water-based paint (like snazaroo body paint that requires water to blend it)? Also, how can someone conceal blemishes under face paint when try a slightly more natural look (like grey colored alien skin)?
+valkerymillenia I haven't tried it with different face paints, so I guess you'll just have to try and see =) If you need some coverage, add a a bit of foundation to your mix =)
What would you recommend for doing the heath ledger joker? I really like how the make up in this video turned out, but I feel like the joker should be alot more grittier
It's a Sephora moisturizer. It kind of makes your face clean and soft before applying makeup or face paint I hear. But I'm pretty sure many moisturizers work too.
can I make me a diy butterfly Halloween costume with butterfly t shirt, some blue skirt, some black blue striped tights, some blue makeup, some blue wig,and some butterfly costume accessories to go trick or treating with kids to get some free candy about October 31st around the neighborhood and can I use a plastic bags for Halloween candy of trick or treating.
Thanks so much for this! I cosplay as Eric Draven AKA The Crow from the Brandon Lee movie and this will help with my face make up so much! I have Snazzaroo, which is a water based make up that is only as thick as you make it, but i still have issues and i see now that my problem was that i wasn't using a sponge and wasn't setting it right, so thanks for the help! I might post a video tutorial for my Crow cosplay and if I do i will list you in the credits!
FenrirsLover I am so glad my video helped you! ^_^ Did you already do the cosplay? If so, you should send me a picture of your makeup, I'd love to see it =) (you can post it to my facebook fan page) Did you also do the tutorial? =) Went to your channel but I don't see it.
I am planning on doing this for my Halloween costume this year, but I could REALLY use some help: I have no idea what a face cream is or which one to buy! :D All of them are $20+ and say things like "age defying" or "wrinkle reducing." I don't need magic snake oil, and I don't want to spend $20+ to paint my face white once. Anyone have any advice on inexpensive face creams that work well with this technique? I bought a $0.99 travel-size Nivea cream... but then I read that Nivea is heavy and not a good choice for this :/
Why not use water activated face paint? One it's dried, it sets, period. You can even buy something that will help keep it from getting diluted with sweat.
Because a lot of water-based face paint is really difficult to apply. It will become streaky, patchy and you really need to both practice a lot and do it REALLY FAST before it settles as any wet-on-dry paint is like doing water paint on paper - it makes the overlapped area seem twice as white. I've been using waterbased white for my face for the longest time and meeeeh, it's a pain in the butt >_> Also, waterbased paint will a) dry out, b) rub off, so you need a fixating product to keep it on your face if you're wearing it for longer periods of time. Protip: DON'T get the fixer spray in your eyes, it stings like a mofo o_
Okay, disregard my comment, try LA girl pro foundation, they have a foundation lightener which is literally white foundation. set it with translucent powder and it didn't move all day. Even when I got rained on walking to the event.
Laila G Aaw, sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, I would suggest mixing blue and white face paints with a moisturizer =) How did your look turn out? =) I'd love to see it! You can post it to my facebook fan page =)
brooks stayer Hi! Sorry I'm only getting back to you now. I used Sephora Smoothing Primer, you can obviously get that at Sephora =) But if you don't have one near you, you can find great primers in the drugstore as well. You can get any kind of moisturizer in the drugstore, then the face paint is by Kryolan but if you can't find that or don't want to order online, you can use any kind of white face paint from a costume store. The powder I used was by essence, you can get that in drugstores, or just use any brand that does a white loose powder (one that is not pressed and has white color), I think that kind sets it the best. Hope this helped you! ^_^

This is a great method and makes a huge difference with making the makeup smooth. I'm doing a Victorian costume for Halloween.
This was extremely helpful! I've had quite a challenge for some time with my Mehron white facepaint not covering as evenly as I want, and having it dry up and fall away, and I feel like this will help immensely, thank you very much for your assistance!

Question dose this smear with a eye mask?
Hi, I am going for a "day of the dead" look with black circles around my eyes to look like a skull. Do you recommend the same technique for black makeup? Using the moisturizer with the black makeup? Thanks! :)
for the black around the eyes you should use eyeshadow not face paint as it will dry and get crusty
Thanks! :)
best one on UA-cam!!! I really needed this
I am doing a dia de los muertos makeup and I was wondering if I could use the same technique you used for black makeup? I need to use black face paint around my eyes, but I wasn't sure if I could use moisturizer in that. Thank you!! :)
+Jenny Casanas I have a sugar skull makeup on my channel that I did recently, so you can have a look how I did it =)
Hello Lena, can I use a water based paint on top of this base?
This is perfect! Everything else looks way too paper white and too heavy, this is exactly the tip I needed!
This was a really helpful tutorial !
can u plz tell me if i can use Dove cream to mix with the paint ?
This is very imp for me so plz do reply !
+Star shine It doesn't matter what kind of moisturizer you use =) But the lighter the texture, the better =)
Thanks for watching
Lena Lednicka thank you !
Why moisturize? is that for general everyday care or does it change how the foundation/powder appear afterwards?
If you mix the white face paint with a white lotion, will it still be the same like the day cream?
can you add a touch of foundation to the face paint and moisturizer?
No problem, glad I could help! =)

christymastin the sponge doesn't look any more expanded than when she showed it in the package so I'm assuming she's using it dry.
Tu é brasileira? Pelo sotaque parece. Anyway, eu tava procurando um vídeo exatamente assim. Muito obrigada!!
