This really reminds me about how I usually let my rabbits play with my sister’s cat in the yard. The only difference is that the cat was always scared of the rabbits, even though they were around 1/3 of his size. Every time they got close, he would make a noise and run away. Not like hissing, but the sound a cat makes when you throw something at them. Like, when do a backflip. To anyone who’s worried, we always supervised them together. The cat usually stayed by it’s own corner, and only encountered some of them while eating the grass there.

A marten once broke into the rabbit house in our garden. When I heard the rabbits screeching, I opened the door to go out and all of a sudden one of our cats, a Maine Coon, bolted past me into the rabbit house and almost killed the marten, it just made it over a fence before our cat could pounce on it again. Best thing was, that Maine Coon is mostly deaf and can only hear certain sounds, but it for some reason knew that that screech was from one of the rabbits and knew they were in danger. He often slept with them in their indoor house or spent time outdoors with them in the garden (the rabbits drove off all other cats except him). Maine Coons are bred for this exact purpose, but it's still fascinating to see animals that are supposed to be hunter and prey co-exist and defend each other.

Rabbits can have very expressive eyes. I can tell exactly what my kids rabbits are feeling just by looking at their eyes.
