I agree. You got a strong point. Here's the problem(s): 1. The Vikings haven't drafted ANY significant talent at defensive tackle since Kevin Williams (2003). Let's exclude Shariff Floyd because of his injury. The Vikings have ALWAYS talked about getting the "best talent available," but somehow, they picked Bradbury over Jeffrey Simmons, Eric McCoy, and Elgton Jenkins. They also didn’t aggressively move ahead of the giants to grab a RARE talent named Dexter Lawrence. 2. There's ALWAYS been something more important to the Vikings than a talented DT (or two). Now they're considering selling the future because they haven't been able to draft talent in their interior line (on EITHER SIDE OF THE BALL) for YEARS. 3. The Vikings blitz excessively because they can't MAN up and get pressure from a standard 3-4 OR 4-3 set. They run cute pass plays, and run when the opponent's defense is off balance, because they can't consistently line up and move people off the ball to sustain a run game. They are going to be great until they can consistently compete in the trenches (IDL and IOL). The last two regimes have tried very hard to work around this issue, but you CAN'T. Football is a physical sport that requires the best teams to consistently WIN in the trenches and/or have a generational talent at QB. Since niether McCarthy or Darnold look like generational/HOF level QBs, I'd say it's time to stop BSing and INVEST in the trenches (INTERIOR LINE). PERIOD.
