"Le Spiritisme sait que l'âme progresse sans cesse à travers une série d'existences successives, jusqu'à ce qu'elle ait atteint le degré de perfection qui peut la rapprocher de Dieu." (Allan Kardec) Fare Well, Doctor!
Neolithic Man, you're right. It has a New Orleans Jazz flavor to a lot of the music, but it is Cajun/Bayou music. Been Lovin' Dr. John since the late 1960's!!
why did only this lp have the atmosphere and arrangements quite sparse at times ,yet so catchy when all the others went to the more jazzy and ballady end was it because of professor long hair
Does anybody know what that is that takes off at 24 seconds .. Is it woodwind or keys of some sort ? If anybody knows all of the keys used on the whole album i would be Sincerely grateful !!
You're probably just trolling but if not I'd suggest you listen to the album as a whole, might make more sense then. It's really a fantastic and very fun album
punkpoetry because my opinion of this differs from yours i'm a ''troll'' right? I've given it what i consider a fair listen and am unconvinced this record is the holy relic it is so oft claimed to be...nice to know the opinion police are patrolling youtube looking for thoughtcrime
+borde b no I said that because a gory avatar usually signifies a troll. You're perfectly entitled to your opinion; I'll just add that like Captain Beefheart and later period Tom Waits, this album is acquired taste and you have to work a bit to acquire it. But it's really worth it! Start with Mama Roux, it's a great pop tune
This whole LP is so sick and out of earth---I love it
Great song, great album. R.I.P. Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. Thank you for giving much happiness to many.
So sad to hear that the Good Doctor no longer walks among us mere mortals, he went to give God some gris gris.
As they say in New Orleans, he went home.
Fading slowly into the mists of Louisiana...
I love this
Something tells me The Stranglers were listening to this track when they wrote Golden Brown...
There’s a doors one that comes to mind too

some nice gritty gris, RIP Dr.
Cool psychedelia-meets-voodoo tune. The harpsichord near the beginning and end sounds a bit like the "Addams Family" theme.
YESSSSSS! and the flute rocks too
Thanks to Rhidalgo789 for putting this classic album up on UA-cam - I'm in hippy heavan again!!!
On Halloween we have a corn maze where you must walk through a school bus full of decapitated students, that what this song reminds me of.
Cool!

Late '68.
Courtbullion: a broth used to poach other foods. Croaker: a MD who will write scripts for Dope.
Ju ju psych.
I stole my Dad's tape of this when I was a kid.

It’s a harpsichord
Thanks for your reply. I know there's a harpsichord there, it's what's under that.. @@dirtlevel
This is strangely appealing, but does anyone understand the lyrics? Sounds to me like they're singing about blue beer ;-)
It sounds like they're just saying "Croker, Croker Courtbullion" a few times throughout the song.

Some say The Stranglers "Golden Brown is a rip off of this. I think not.
overrated bullshit...a case of the emperor's new clothes musically...bleurgh
