Paul from Starcade is my hook up. He's set me up with so many great games and parts for my arcade! I love stopping at this arcade whenever I am in town.
I can always appreciate an old-school arcade. This was the best place for kids to be growing up in the 80s and 90s, and it still is today. Oniine gaming experiences will never capture this kind of energy & excitement. Awesome work!
Back in the 80s, when I was a kid, I am now 49, there was this show, on TBS, I think, titled "Starcade." Two kids would answer very simple questions regarding arcade games of that era. Actual arcade games were preselected for the kids to play. When one kid answered more questions than the other, I think it was two or three, he/she got to choose which game that would be played. The trivia winner would play first. This would repeat until time had expired for trivia play. The way the score was kept was by adding the scores that the kid achieved in the game when the timer expired. (eg. 30 seconds) The winning contestant got to play a game that was not showcased during regular play. The producers of the show set a score that the contestant needed to achieve within a set amount of time. If The score was achieved, the contestant got to take home an actual arcade game. Episodes of the show are available on YT. Just search Starcade tv show.
I learned about the first video arcade game show known as Starcade on G4, I was surprised that it was on TBS before I was born. I even learned some of the arcade classics like Pengo and the band Journey.
Thanks to that man and other game rooms with arcades for keeping our childhood alive and well. I own a Pac Man, A SF2 Turbo and a Big Red Neo Geo arcades. I love those machines. Goes perfect in my small back shed
I miss St.paul! I recently move to Columbus Ohio for a job relocation, I still have so many families in Minnestoa. I'll visit this Arcade when I visit in July! Love old school arcades! There arcade like these in Columbus, But nothing like this!
Great collection. My era is the late 70s to early 80s. Interesting to see how some of the later years are now the next generation's faves, but for me it will always be Defender, Robotron, space invaders, asteroids, scramble, lunar Lander etc
Awesome video! As someone who lives in the Twin Cities myself, I need to get over to this place very, very soon. There are loads of games I want to play here. It would also be fun too connect or meet up sometime.
I LIVE in Minnesota, how come I didn't know about this place? Of course St. Paul is a 3 hour drive (one way) from where I live, so I'll probably never get there. Where are the laserdisc games other than Dragon's Lair/Space Ace?
I'm so happy they have mystic marathon and joust 2. I grew an appreciation for Williams 2nd Gen games after I ported the cores to the MiSTer FPGA and it really makes me want to try all 4 of these rare games in person one day.
@ 11:58 a kid is playing Jungle King by TAITO. This particular game is quite rare. Your character is dressed in a loincloth and gives out the "Tarzan" yell when the game is started. Well, the estate of Edgar Rice Burrough considered this to be way too similar to the Tarzan stories and confronted TAITO about it. To prevent any problems, TAITO reskinned the character by putting him in sort of a jungle explorer's outfit and renamed the game Jungle Hunt. Later on, TAITO reskinned the game once again calling it Pirate Pete. The gameplay and the 4 scenes are exactly the same as the aforementioned two, but this time you play as a pirate, and in the 4th scene where you rescue your girl, you now have tribesmen throwing arrows at you. Thus making the rescue much harder.
Actually a lot of jungle kings out there. They produced quite a few before the copyright thing stopped them. That and now it is relatively easy to convert a jungle hunt into a jungle king. Just have new art printed for your marquee, control panel, and bezel. Tons of places that do this. And you have to change some rom chips. Like 15 of the 20. Not hard to do if you know someone with a rom burner.
@kbramlett6877 I didn't. I do not own a Jungle king cabinet. I would like to tho. As for why anyone would. Jungle king is a cooler game. And it's the original. Jungle king is worth more, so you wouldn't lose any money. Most of the ppl in the arcade community consider it a hobby. So, they wouldn't mind spending a few hours restoring an arcade game.
@@atrain818 That makes sense. Also, you do not spell "people" "ppl." "People" make themselves look like illiterate, uneducated idiots when they do not take the time to spell words out. That includes using numbers instead of words. For example, using the number '2' in place of "to" or"too." And the number '4' instead of the word "for." You know, then again maybe you don't, it really annoys me that either "people" either forgot proper how to use grammar or would rather make themselves look like morons by intentionally not giving a damn.
That Killer Instinct 2 monitor looks alot smaller then the CRT it originally comes with, also good to see they had what might be Korean sticks on the TekkenTag 1 candy cab over sanwa's , korean sticks for TTT1 are much better then japanese sticks

I've played Battletoads on MAME. The game was developed by RARE, of course, but it was licensed to Electronic Arts to be converted into an arcade game like you see @ 4:39 The game is quite bloody and gory, believe it or not. And sometimes some parts will make you laugh. For example, when the Toads encounter an enemy that is much taller than them, the Toads will grab the enemy by the nuts and then proceed to beat the living crap out of him.
Obtaining a liquor license? If liquor is involved, I be glad the closing hours is 2AM. Like how the chain known as Barcade (including the central portion of my home city Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is like. On certain days, Barcade has family days, where kids can join the fun; but has to be accompanied by an adult (due to the presence of liquor). But of course that anybody younger than 21 has to leave at a certain time (like 8ish or 9ish @ night), because like many (if not all) establishments that serve alcohol closes @ 2AM.
Why is this not near my house in IL. So when I turned 10 I invited three of my best friends to Enchanted Castle near my house in Lombard IL and we ate pizza and then all we played was Gauntlet for hours. That game was so much fun.
