We start the new year with Bay Area band Hazel English. They've made a few "Artists to Watch in 2017” lists. The music is dream pop with jangly guitars, recommended for fans of Best Coast.

I don't know which of the performances of this song is most beautiful. This version ratchets the "haunting" vibe up a little bit with the slower pace. I just discovered Hazel for myself this year and I really hope to see and hear more of her.

This song relates so much to the past decade of my life. A very important relationship ended due to me being too mentally ill. While I know now that wasn't fair to have said to me and that I deserve love and support that person couldn't give, I wish I could tell them I forgive them for not being what I needed. And that our memories together mean so much to me. And that I'm sorry for all the ways I wasn't what they needed. I'm sentimental though, and listening to Hazel will always bring me back to the fall when we fell in love. Life is so precious and short my friends. Take care of your hearts and don't be afraid to open them up and let love in.

She is talented no doubt, but for crying out loud, get someone else on a guitar. Why does she even have it? Also not a fan of this live version period. I usually hype live performances, but this isn't one.
lol her playing really isn't that bad. A lil reliant on open tuning for the chords but I've heard way worse. I like that this version has drums tbh, the original made me feel anxious waiting for a buildup lmao.
