A huge wild Red Stag glassed from 1 mile away during the rut as he holds hinds (female red. deer). This heavy long beamed Stag has been in the area for a few years, being on private land these Stags get the chance to grow old and spread their genetics. A very challenging hunt in this high country environment free range Red Stags are weary deer even during the rut, but typically its the females that keep a constant look out for any threat and will quickly climb high if you dont get the stalk right. Keeping the wind in your face and out of sight most shots will typically be 300-400 yard shots, closer on a windy day. But this is all part of the hunt on these majestic animals.
