I think people like Fantano have the ability to listen to any genre or culture of music and listen with a neutral and constructive viewpoint, but most Americans are overly saturated with nothing but American rap so any rap from anywhere else sounds ‘wrong’. It’s like when British people listen to say Australian rap which to me sounds really weird and cringe. Hope I explained that well enough but yeah that’s what it feels like
That's so true. I remeber I heard Australian rap for the first time and was like what's this? But then I started realising each country has their own 'type' of rap and genres in general. And while it's natural to have a subjective preference, you should also look at each genre objectively too
Not only that but his music knowledge stretches out to loads of different genres so has to stay neutral really
