Thanks for coming along guys, was great to race with you all... Hopefully you had a good time shedding some light onto our amazing sport and helping to encourage new participants. Hopefully see you again some time 👍
Callum being excited for his win and spraying a champagne bottle in Wills face while Will barely stumbles off the tractor, completely unphased by the spray. That right there was the moment I had to pause for a cry-laugh 😂😂😂
It reminded me if the time Hammond won a off road race in a bowler against a a presenter on a German car motoring show and went straight up to his face to celebrate hahaha
The difference in attitude to this from you guys compared to when The Skid Factory and Benny gave it a go is a hilarious contrast between British mindsets and the Aussie mindset. I love the combination of fear and competitiveness that Scott jumped in with - definitely a good sport. Great video!
Lawnmower racing has always looked like loads of fun but As I get older, I can literally feel the pain just thinking about trying to drive these with pace. You guys should try doing a rally Cross race next.
that's kinda how they felt at the formula 1 back in the 50's, I don't see much difference between those lawn mowers and the old cars, perhaps the lawn mowers are safer!
Rewatched this episode three times because of how incredibly funny and crazy it is. Also love that they were all physically shaken from lawn mower racing
I love the way this is scrambling Scott’s brain! This is Blokes that are out to have fun, regular guys having a blast. Love this. I was watching with a smile on my face. Sheer entertainment!
Callum put an MX-5 into a bush and came out the other side on a lawn mower. Will looks like he's straight out of the 1950's with that helmet and goggles.
The mowers are pretty light and with protective gear it's usually not too bad. Occasionally a broken bone or stitches but that's about the worst of it.
United States Lawn Mower Racing Association is the NASCAR of lawn mower racing here in the states, but if you just want to get involved for the fun of it, inquire if your local area or state has a club or events held. I live in Maine, and they have multiple outlets for lawn mower racing: Andover's Olde Home Days, and Saco Pathfinder's (a snow mobile club) also host lawn mower racing year round (including racing on frozen lakes and ponds in the winter!).
There's also rototiller racing. It's like drag racing but you run behind a tiller powering down a freshly tilled strip of dirt with the tines just catching into the top of the ground. I first saw this on the Lucas Oil On the Edge show on Speed channel. One couple competed in two classes, stock and unlimited. She ran a stock tiller and decided to have a go with her husband's unlimited. IIRC she made it about 4 steps before she couldn't keep up. Never let go of the handles while it dragged her down the rest of the track. Must have long legs and be able to run fast for the unlimited class. There's an organization for drag racing snowmobiles on grass. Or if you want a more sedate sport there are two professional cornhole leagues, with thousands of $ in prize money at stake.
You should try backwards racing or caravan racing. Used to be a thing in the Netherlands. Verstappen and Tsunoda did a small promotional run at Zandvoort
In the states, each mower is built by the racer. And can be as cheap or as expensive as you want it to be. Just a couple years ago, the regulating body for lawn mower racing, just allowed Chinese clone engines to be sanctioned. So no longer are racers limited to Briggs, Tecumseh, Kholer, Kawasaki, or Honda, they now have a much wider variety of engines to get now. Meaning it just got a lot cheaper to start out.
All motorized vehicles are band on the island of Sark (you even need a doctor's note to ride an electric bicycle) so they race their mowers up the hill, but they put big motorbike engines in theirs! It's crazy! There are some UA-cam vids of them to check out
That 7 time champ has a real physical advantage with his light weight. It has to make a TON of difference with those small engines. Good luck to any normal sized man that comes against him, no matter how skilled.
The fact the races are held in Dorking is a bit on the nose... but also super appropriate. Looks like a blast, but isn't going to attract the beautiful people! 😁
Probably. My first car was a Smart from 1998. One day I drove a fellow student somewhere, he weight about 150kg and the whole car felt different. The steering felt totally wrong.
My Village did a yearly lawnmower race. Our races track was an oval street fenced off with straw bails. The drivers who didn't bring helmets got ones from the fire brigade. Ancient, ancient helmets
Me and my buddies used to do this on a friends property, though not at 50 mph, maybe 30. The funny thing is when you take the blade off they wont run, the blade acts like a flywheel. We mounted barbell weights in their place lol. Great cheap fun! Much easier on your back then go carts in these conditions.
In my town we had a realy big tradition in this kind of racing cince 2002 but it was cancelled because of to much costs, but Last year it got revived, there where over 10000 people all organized by one litlle village before it was cancelled there we're around 25000 people every year the race was like 24 hours. The event was called Thöne24

Holy cow! I did not know our cousins across the pond did this as well. I used to run a Simplicity do they sell those in the UK? It's makes sense though. Most of the lawns in the US are imported English and European grasses.

the collar bone thing is actually accounted for in FIM helmets... SNELL on the other hand.. yeesh. The Scorpion helmet I have (ECE 22.05) has slightly flexible cheeks so it may not break but will absolutely hurt like hell.
Proper budget Top Gear vibes, well done lads
Imho budget Top Gear was often best Top Gear.
Between this channel and drivetribe, I feel they both help feel the void of top gear. Would love to see them colab one day
The only thing missing is the Stig and guys in white lab coat handing out challenges.
that context made me love this channel even more
it's a top gear season 2022 🤩
Literal grassroots racing. I love it!

Don’t forget to remove the mower blades for more performance.

Still remember the time Kimi Raikkonen did lawnmower racing. It is wild he actually agreed to do it.
The video of Kimi casually rocking up, hopping on one, and demolishing Brundle is an all time classic. The ice man never flinches!
Whatever Kimi drove he was always fast

ain't it a bitch how our bones get loose as we age?
we need to invent a machine to revert aging already.
The farthest we could get is healthy lifestyle and resistance training for now
