Strasburg Railroad 89: Return of the Ghostly Banshee

- Today (9/29/24) we ventured to Strasburg to Railfan and ride Canadian National 89 this weekend, on a cloudy and rainy day. Along with 3 Amtrak keystones as well, 1 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon in the rain. Joining me today is fellow friend @Strasburg_Railfaner611 as well, we both had fun.

Fun fact the whole reason they use the banshee is for an engineer whos half deaf just to help him feel included in the strasburg family to hear them blow the whistle. It is nice thanks to a guy named dave who works at the strasburg railroad right now
That whistle brings me back to simpler times, even though it sounds bad on 89
89 is a champ, that whistle is a scream, and Strasburg is a national treasure. Thanks for making this great video!

Very nice. I've been to the Strasburg Railroad numerous times (my grandmother lived in Lancaster County), and credit it (and a certain blue tank engine) with instilling a deep passion for trains and railroads within me. I also think that with Halloween approaching, #89's banshee whistle could serve as the inspiration for a ghost story.
That first shot at the crossing, makes me think of when the movies are trying to get footage of a moving train, but capture the footage from the underside. Whoever left that camera there must’ve been trying to replicate that footage, but for a real train lmao.
I’m so happy they put the banshee back on, one of my favorite whistles.

I truly miss her CN 4 chime whistle this was by far my most favorite whistle that number 89 had from 1991 to 2010 I wonder if the Strasburg railroad still has that whistle somewhere
@@TexasRailfan21-RailfanRyan even though I never heard the CN 4 I want them to put it on if they have it.
The Rough & Tumble Shay had my CN 4 Chime on that engine back in the spring after having a serious overhaul done to it. We’re having a whistle blow this weekend which will be covered by Delay In Block Productions. I will be blowing that whistle this weekend.
