I would plant lots of hostas, heucheras and helleborus around the tree, also I would add some lights and planters on the sides of the stairs. It still looks good, though.

I actually used this product over the weekend on our cement surfaced in our backyard for the first time since we moved into our home this past winter. I like this design. I would have added flowers under the tree or cover the soil with bark, and perhaps a birdbath or small water feature.
