I've got news for you Jeff Lynne I've been a ELO fan since living thing and I only heard this song recently Oct 2023 and it's growing on me after a couple of hearings over last 4 or 5 days so what you laughed off as a bit of fun is making me happy again thank you so much
always wanted to hear this song. Though I can understand why others wouldn't like it, speaking for myself, every time I hear something from Lynne, I gain a new appreciation for his ear for music. "Love this song"!!! It's just plain fun, and not too serious...
Настолько необычно для стиля ELO и Джеффа Линна, сначала ощушалось кокофонией, но через пару прослушиваний стала прослушиваться идея. Мастер! всегда в поиске и новых решениях. Достойно и весьма!
I had this as a 45 single and lost it. Nice to hear it again after all these years. Not because I like the song, really, but as an ELO collectible. Wish I had that 45!!
Brilliant song, first heard it in the late 70's and shows how good Jeff is with his catchy backing vocals, music, sounds, not like the shit you hear on the radio today
Oh yeah speakin the truth, no matter how the music changed durin ELOs run, it all sounded great thanks to Jeffs voice, I was reluctant to hear Secret Messages, Time and Zoom do to the change in lineup, but when I finally gave in to listenin to them I was glad to learn i was wrong in my opinion cuz it all sounded great
I.received this single in an American released multiple album, "ELO box of their best" circo 1983.after a discovery of ELO, self immersion into the lyrically rich, melodic rythmic dreamy ELO.. My young 16 year old mind was blown..to shredz
Hey, my local record shop had this on a 33 RPM, 7" promo single. No B-side though, so I bought the 45 RPM 12" single instead! For the same price, might as well get both this and Goin' Down To Rio...HA!
Great tune from the master of rock! AND this song has got a dance to go with it! Thanks for posting! By the way, if you type &fmt=18 after the video URL you can watch this in stereo (it's better that way)
I don´t have an idea why Jeff Lynne made a song like this in the Out of the Blue days ! Maybe it was like football to him. To clear your mind between recording sessions. I don´t mean it´s bad it´s different.
I always thought this song was hilarious in its kitschiness! I like the dance moves on the album cover as shown early in this vid. Yes, the guitar solo is kind of nice.
I kinda liked tIhis when it came out. I hated disco, but this wasn't exactly disco, but a crossover sumth'n sumth'n. I knew the ELO of Eldorado was probably officially dead, when this came out.
I came here to be disappointed i said no way mr Lynne is good and produces hit after hit, and i can say no way this song is this good, that break is amazing
Think this was a disappointment when it was released. ELO´s success was at its peak. Afterwards it´ s understandable. Like ELO members played football between sessions, Jeff Lynne made this "to clear your head " like with football.

Agree 100%
Look - it sounds crazy that this is Jeff Lynne - but if this record had been released by Prince, no one would bat an eyelid.

You can see the build up to the 'Discovery' album with this song. Fantastic.
Brilliant song, first heard it in the late 70's and shows how good Jeff is with his catchy backing vocals, music, sounds, not like the shit you hear on the radio today
First time I've ever heard it. It's actually pretty cool.
It was smart of him to include a new song in this compilation album, as every artist should. I won't buy an album without new songs.
This is actually pretty cool and a pretty good song to boot!
That's pretty dam funky! Really should've been a hit. And I love that he tried something different to anything he with ELO (except maybe for Jungle).
I never heard this until this year.
Jeff Lynne made this at the same time
when Out of the Blue was made.
Not bad but very hard to imagine.
This isn't really disco, this is Philly based soul-funk with a taste of Commodores
I noticed that distinction, too.

zoom, in my opinion should be placed right next to New World Record, it's as good if not more rock than the other albums, it's simply amazing
we don't talk about balance of power...
I think it's Outta Sight!!!
I was always a fan of both ELO and EW&F.
This single is just bridging the gap...
Same! Similar hairstyles too!

I didn´t know Jeff Funky Lynne
Thank You soooo much for this!
Great got this single, I was thinking of posting it myself thanks
Great theme!!!

Now that you mention it I can detect a funk influence too, though i wouldn't go as far as saying the beginning was the same as Stevie
Yea lol i am kinda glad this bombed originally cos 'Out of the blue' might have been a disco album had this been huge
lynne is genious
oh yeah!! Jeff rules!!!! It's somewhat different from other Jeff's work but still nice...

I like it. :) fun.
interesting, Jeff Lynne made this kind of song during the highlight of ELO´s success. You couldn´t even recognize it his work. Not a bad song anyway.
First sign of madness is contradicting your self, you're arguing the song is good, then you say it's bad.
I remember this song being Iconic
Yes it is Fun, not normally my kinda thing but the novelty value warrants a listen, Definite Bee Gees influence on this
You know, ELO purists may mock but this would fit right in on a Scissor Sisters album!
I always thought this song was hilarious in its kitschiness! I like the dance moves on the album cover as shown early in this vid. Yes, the guitar solo is kind of nice.

Pretty good crossover disco tune. I hear it alot on WOL radio, Wash. D.C. and in the clubs.
I came here to be disappointed i said no way mr Lynne is good and produces hit after hit, and i can say no way this song is this good, that break is amazing
It's Disco very :-)
Sounds better if you set the speed at 1.25
Tema digno del mismísimo Prince and the revolutions
Well, it's certainly different. :)
Simply awful! In mono OR stereo LOL!!!
But thanks for posting anyway, Mr Nut ;).
Think this was a disappointment when it
was released. ELO´s success was at its peak.
Afterwards it´ s understandable. Like ELO
members played football between sessions,
Jeff Lynne made this "to clear your head "
like with football.
this is really bad I have no idea he did this kind of single
