@@1amorth I love getting replies from 6 years ago! Hope that everyone knows I am referring to Phyllis, the character, and not Cloris Leachman who portrayed her. A nice person from what I understand.
She explains it very early on in The Mary Tyler Moore Show. If memory serves me correctly, Phyllis said her and Lars never told Bess what to do or treated her like a child because of what the experts were saying so she called both of them by their first names. That is not perfect info because it’s been a long time since I’ve seen it but I think it’s close. 🤪
I'm a little confused about why Lars always was shown to have such a thick Swedish accent when his mother never did. I'm not sure about Lars father at all.
They talk about this early on in the Mary Tyler Moore show, like episode 3 of season 1 or thereabouts. Just one of those things, I guess. She is her mother, but she just calls her by her by her first name.
Oh dear, the "la la la la" intro for "Rhoda" is way worse. I'm sure the producers went for the over the top showtune-styled theme to match the Phyllis character.
Phyllis ordering is like a scene from I LOVE LUCY
"I know what you mean. When I first saw you, I thought you were very intelligent!" And that's a 'ba-DUM-bum' if there ever was one! Love this show!
Bess is one of my favourite TV characters ever
Lisa Gerritsen, wonderful actress. She retired early.
@@jaymesguy239 Working 7 years with Phyllis will drive anyone out of the business.
@@MostlyBrenda you don't say!

That's Long Anderson! !! Always gorgeous
Loni u mean, lol. This isn't gay porn.
Why does Bess call Phillis "Phillis" instead of mom. Was this ever explained?????

17:53 "first Lars. now Lester". what does that mean?
Daniel J. Trevanti 😍
David's the guy from Buck Rogers.
Wasn't one of those initial guys the Chief from Hill Street Blues?
yes. Spaghetti Man.
Liz Torres from Gilmore Girls.
I loved the show, sad it did not last.
The deaths of Barbara Colby and Judith Lowry really hurt the show.
I thought Phyllis was from San Francisco?
The show was set in San Francisco, but Phyllis moved from Minneapolis and the Mary Tyler Moore Show. I don't know where Phyllis came from before MTM.

@@fad23that’s funny because in the episode where a medium comes and affects a Swedish accent, Audrey says he didn’t have an accent.
Why doesn't Beth call Phyllis mum/ mom? Isn't Phyllis her mother?..

That’s one of the worse intros ever
Season 2 of Rhoda is pretty bad, too.

No it was not, Mary Hartman!!! Mary Hartman!!! ...that was the worst!
Funny- because I love it! I was singing it to myself today.
