  • Pegaso Evolution (1946 - 1994)
Pegaso was a Spanish automotive company, founded in 1946 by the state-owned company ENASA. Initially, Pegaso focused on producing trucks, buses, and military vehicles, but in the early 1950s, it ventured into high-performance sports cars under the direction of engineer Wifredo Ricart. The most famous model was the Pegaso Z-102, which competed with the likes of Ferrari and Maserati for its advanced engineering and sleek design.
However, the sports car production was short-lived due to high costs and limited demand. By the late 1950s, Pegaso shifted focus entirely back to commercial vehicles, becoming known for its durable trucks and buses. ENASA was eventually acquired by Iveco in 1990, marking the end of the Pegaso brand.
Today, Pegaso’s legacy lives on through its iconic Z-102 sports cars, which are highly prized by collectors, and its reputation for producing reliable commercial vehicles that served Spain and many other countries for decades.
