Excellent purchase my friend. Speaking of which, I picked up a D700 practically new for a couple hundred the other day. I think now's the time to be buying up legacy Nikon gear.
I have a pair of D700s and I can promise you won’t be disappointed. I also have a D4S, but have been looking too at the D5. Where did you find your D700?
@@russellwright9961 eBay from Japan. I usually have good luck if I'm patient. It's practically new. Only thing is that it has a modified split screen focus screen. So I'm gonna buy an 'as-is' one and swap it out. I have the Df, but over the last two years of ownership, never fell in love with the color output. So gonna see if the D700 lives up to the color output hype. And from the quick photos I took, I think yes.
My d5 still is my main work camera! Unbelievable high iso and autofocus. Really an absolute bargain! Despite owning various new mirrorless cameras to try and upgrade, there is still just nothing like a D5 for me!
Wow! That's a crazy catch, V! I saw a brand new one the other day for $2,700 and thought it was a good deal, but this is a far better deal. I really suspect it's the cheapest fully working D5 in the world! Enjoy!

Looks like we all Nikon lovers are currently on spree buying some of the best older Nikons. I recently moved from APS-C to (Nikon DX) to full frame (FX) and bought a Nikon D810 and Nikon D610 used (in good condition). I am extremely happy with the results. The colour are good, exposure and metering is great on these cameras. I like the sensors on these cameras and the rich colour tones I am able to get straight out of the camera. I think D5 is an excellent choice and the images you have shared look great! Congratulations to you on this purchase. This is a great choice at an attractive price.

I'd say just the provenance of this camera is worth the $900 price alone. You dont just own a D5, you own one from an established well respected photographer who has produced a very impressive body of work. 👍
Wow Wow Wow! Score! Just think... that D5 already has great karma built in from the untold successful shots it took. What’s the shutter count on your new D5? Congratulations on a nice buy. I just moved up to a D4S from a D3S and I love it. I heard some negative reviews of the D5 because of an anti aliasing filter. What do you know about that?
Nikon still supports the D5 for service/maintenance/cleaning so it might be a nice idea to have that done before they stop supporting the camera. I dunno if they give announcements stating when a particular camera will stop being supported ahead of time.
Hello Vahagraphy, Great to see your in a Tesla, so I hear from others in my family so much cheeper to run even in the UK, I hope the D5 is as good. Must add what a good chat too. Keep well, keep safe and what a buy.
Hi, sourced the D3s, D3X(because of you😋), D4s and now looking for a deal on the D6 shortly. You got a Great deal on the D5-wishing you all the Best with it, Ted.
THank you Ted. I was thinking D6 but its harder to find a super deal on that one, I figured the D5 is basically a D6 minus a few smaller details. Good luck on the hunt for the D6. Hope you score.
Fantastic! There are some amazing bargains around these days. I bought a minty low shutter count Canon 1Dx for £600 (with shop guarantee) here in the U.K. earlier this year. I would Love a D5.
Awesome deal for the D5. I bought a D610 with 1,800 shutter clicks along with a 50mm F1.4g lens last month for $550 USD. I thought I got a deal for my camera. Yours blows mine out of the water. DSLR camera are still fantastic to shoot with.
cant wait to try it out together. Should be fun trying out all the focus tracking modes and the speed of this D5 and buffer. My camera is the 2 X XQD model so im all set.
super deal. shutter count 200K. For me, even if it goes for 400K i'm good. my d4 has 800K. still works. for 900 bucks, really wasn't expecting much. all the buttons still feel fresh, the rubbers are in tacts and everyhing works. Most importantly. the sensor is clean. no defects.
Congratulations ; It was an exciting choice; Now, in addition to Nikon D4 and Nikon D3X, you also have Nikon D5 in your collection; I think if you buy a Nikon D3S, the collection will be complete.
Just last year I picked up a lightly used D4 for $700, and I though I got a steal. I look to grab a D5 sometime down the road. But for now I am enjoying the amazing shots I am getting from the D4, truly one of the best sensors I have shot with.
I really wasn't expecting much at this price point. I just wanted to say I bought a D5 for $900. Good or bad, but wow, when I got there. The camera was excellent. Yes not brand new but the buttons feel great. the camera is full functonal. the sensor is clean, no defects. 4 18a batteries with allot of life still on them. If you count just the batteries alone, thats a steal. and the cherry on top, I got to know a legend in the sports photography world. Couldn't ask for a better day. Now I can say I own a camera that has taken some of the most iconic sports shots out there.
I use it mostly for my son’s sporting activities. Great high ISO for football fields and indoor gyms. Every now and then I shoot portraits with the voitlander 58mm & nikon 105mm lens. Also good for graduation photos. I got mine 4 years ago at $4550😓. Since then I have picked up a Fujifilm GFX 50 ii + 35-70mm kit lens . The detail is mind-blowing ☺️. I also got a GF 45mm. That lens basically lives on the 50 ii. So sharp. Looking 👀 forward to getting the 110mm . Are you in Las Vegas? Maybe we can meet for coffee and talked about photography? Take care.
It is man. I cant begin to tell you how thrilled i am with the D5 so far. Video coming soon on my thoughts shooting a gig with the D5 for the first time.
I'm a big fan of the macro 105mm lens; very versatile (I also use mine for food, street, toy and portraits(great for not invading someone's personal space)). I already own the F-Mount version, but came across the z version at a Best Buy marked almost 60% off brand new (don't know why it was marked off that cheap, but took advantage of the opportunity). I use both to this day. Compared to the F-Mount, the MC 105 is a bit sharper and lighter in the hand. It's a great lens in my opinion...105mm over the MC 50mm any day.
I have no idea why BB had them marked down so much. I think it was an error. You took advantage of that price and thats awesome. I would have to had I known, haha. I also know people that bought the 14-30 for a few hundred bucks. Now that sales is long gone. hehe
@Vahagraphy, I read about some people finding the 14-30mm at a really good buy also. I'm hoping to come across either the Z 14-24, or 70-200mm copy next.
