Parts of Northeast remain under flood alerts after monstrous storm

- Across the Northeast first responders are fanning out after Monday’s monstrous storm battered many communities. At least five people were killed from falling trees and flooding. NBC News’ Emilie Ikeda has the latest updates on the severe weather’s aftermath.

I feel for the lady but I couldn't help but laugh when instead of saying "I almost drown" or something like that, her first response was "the water was disgusting."
It’s literally sewage and toxic chemicals mixed in the water and can make you sick. It’s not just muddy.
Something to consider: When a flood like this happens every septic tank and every sewage treatment plant is flooded and the what they hold is added to the flood water.
That water *IS* Disgusting.

Australia, Far North Queensland is very slowly recovering from a very similar " Rain Bomb " largest rain fall in recorded history 100 years plus ! over 3 days 2 Meters of rain fell so far it appears that two deaths associated with this event. If one looks at the "Rain Bombs" that have occurred in many areas of the globe it becomes even more scary if that is possible what will 2024 bring ? Condolences to those that have lost loved ones and I pray that your recovery is swift ! 🦘🇦🇺🦅🇺🇸

It's been raining non stop for days here and my place is high and dry. Some of my neighbors...not so much. They have to shower here because their leech fields are swamped.

Could be a whole lot worse, during the ice age the ice dams would break and that's how you got the scab lands. Missoula floods where so big that the water dug out the soil down to rock, This is rivers over flow, more and more homes built where river flow.

Deep sympathies for flooded homes and dejected families during ruined holidays
cities used to have arborists riding around checking trees for rot, disease, etc., but not anymore. That's why you see more tree falls.
We are also having stronger storms and storms that dump more water faster. We’re having more roads washing away, more areas flooding, and more supersaturated ground that makes it easy for trees to blow over. It’s because of climate change, and it would save us $ and lives if we would accelerate our transition away from fossil fuels.
Pretty entitled that there’s a foot of water on the street and you can’t walk to safety. You have to wait to be rescued.😂

I consider myself extremely lucky because I live near the mountains next to some foothills. Getting to higher ground it not too difficult. It not always safe because we have lost some to flash floods and mudslides too. I don’t know what I’d do if I lived in a relatively flat area. How the heck do you get to safety? I think I’d make sure to keep a boat around in case. Nothing like Noahs boat or anything too big, just enough room for me, my dogs and room for survivors that need help. Ok, so I want a kinda biggish flat bottom boat because I know I’m going to pick up the stranded animals too.
Hopefully most of the Least Coast will wash into the Ocean so we don't have to Build a wall around it

What is causing these bad storms? They seem to be occurring worldwide. I live in Australia and a week ago on the 13th December in North Australia, they received a downpour of 2,000 mm or over 78 inches in 2 ½ days. Maybe climate change perhaps.
