I tried the wedges that Speith uses. I kept hitting them fat into the water.

I had the 718 AP2. Till this day I regret selling them. They felt so amazing and were so good. Titleist said the 718 AP2 were actually more forgiving than the 714 AP1 game improvement iron.

I had my entire set stolen out of my garage after getting fit for 718 ap2s at the TPI in Oceanside California. Probably the best irons I’ve owned. I might pick up a used set if any mint ones come up online. For now my miuras are my babies and I’m fine with that 😂

“A brand new sm5 in decent condition”?
Literally every “brand new” sm5 would by definition be in “decent condition”

There's an old saying here in Texas, "It ain't the bow and arrow, it's the indian" There are plenty of youtube golf videos of good/great players taking old thrift store clubs, cheap big box brands or rentals and shooting low rounds. Contrary to what the golf club manufacturers would want you to believe, there isn't a magic bullet club to fix a bad swing. A scratch golfer can still take a 40 year old set of irons like the Ping Eye 2's, Wilson Staffs, Haig Ultras or Hogan Apex's and play good golf. The woods and ball have changed the most. I can remember when Taylor Made first came out with the metal woods and later Callaway came out with the first Big Bertha oversized head, which is like a 5 wood from today. Again, it still all comes down to a good swing, short game and putting stroke, and less what's in the bag.

I don’t think that saying is limited to Texas….😂

Yup, unless you've been badly fitted OR changed technique, buying new hear should never be about gains. It should be about wanting something new and shiny to inspire you as that's the only logical reason. Sure, the manufacturers can claim that a robot that hit 10000 shots with the new model outperformed the 5-10 year old one but in hands of a normal human strike will override all of that anyway.

Your video reminds me that I see reviews by good players of "forgiving clubs designed for high handicap players" whereby they literally can't miss a shot, and so what do they put in their bag? Clubs designed for top notch players with shafts that are likely too strong, and then they get just so-so results on the golf course because they can't control the club as well. Seems to me that these major brands should reconsider how they market their product lines.......

I still carry my ap2 712 pw to fill the gap between my tw9 52 wedge and tmb 716 pw the lofts are only 2 degrees different but the tmb is 1/2 inch longer so the distances are perfect ,

I have been looking at the gap on the wedges. PW is 135 for me and means I have a massive gap between that and my 50 degree. Looking at a 47 to bridge that gap, thanks for confirming

Good shout in the shafts video. See so much these days about Velocore this and 'tour spec' that... Would it actually make a difference to your average golfer or is it just a way of selling £300+ shafts to the unknowing?

In my experience it can help in some people, however you need fit properly and sometimes the numbers just aren’t worth it, like am I going to spend 600$ on a velocore shaft that gives me 1 more yard of distance and 2 more yard better dispersion, no lol
